I wanted to know, are there any bands whose lyrics are in poetic meters?

one could argue spoken any lyrics are in one meter or another... but I'm sure that's not what you're after.

I remeber, oddly enough, some Misery Index's "Pulling out the nails" is pretty easyily measurable

It deviates here and there... but you get the drift. But any band that's particularly poetic and adheres to strict meter/form? I'm at a loss.

Pig Destroyer's got a poetic flair... I've never bothered to scan their lyrics, but I do love the word play, imagery, metaphors etc shown on Prowler in the Yard

Quote:
Dear everything. Today I witnessed a crucifixion in pink and lavender and gold. I've heard people say that beauty is in the details, but I don't think they have ever seen you. There were mortal wounds inflicted on the sky and incriminating blue stains on my shirt. The shirt you bought for me. Christ it hurts. Like stars in my belly going supernova. I feel like a zombie that refuses to live. Haunting the junkyards and cutting myself on scraps of you. The other day I masturbated to pictures of you at your birthday party. They were the only ones I still had. It felt so wrong. Just like my life. I hope I'm dead by the time you read this. I love you.

My Dying Bride-The Light At the End of the World has a very well structured meter. It seems to me like the lyrics were written before the music or perhaps intended as a standalone piece of poetry. Hope this helps.

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but Bartsch from Bethlehem never called his lyrics 'lyrics'. Instead he calls them 'poems', and indeed some parts are.

I hope German is not too much of a deterrent. Bethlehem does, however, have some songs re-done in English, which you can find on 'A Sacrificial Offering to the Kingdom of Heaven in a Cracked Dog's Ear' and 'Stoenkfitzchen'.

An English one:

Good luck!
