Cathedral - Midnight Mountain

The Ethereal Mirror is, then, it turns out, a bit of an odd album, but great fun to listen to so far - very bouncy and fun.

Yeah, but...

True American Hate from (2012) Testament - Dark Roots Of Earth (Limited Edition).
Testament has always been a difficult band for me to get into (even with (1994) Testament - Low or (1999) Testament - The Gathering) and this album feels the same for me.

Helloween - The Departed

Anyone who can say they prefer the Kiske stuff over this...well, I guess I just can't agree. Huge atmospheric, awesome track. And Kiske never sounded nearly so dramatic as Deris does on this album.

Nuclear Death - The planet Cachexial

Incredibly obscure album. It took me a couple years of searching before I finally was able to even hear this album! It sounds really cool.

Celtic Frost - Eternal Summer

It's good, granted, but I don't understand why the album has a 94% rating. I'm guessing it takes some time to savour.

Sure, To Mega Therion is indeed an acquired taste. But it is also one of the most amazing albums ever in my opinion. The way it's almost "proto-everything" gets me every time. The thrashy/deathy/blackish/whatever edges all colliding... Man do I love it. Guess I should go listen to it again for the millionth time. :D

Dio - Sacred Heart

Got The Last In Line CD the other day for next to nothing and now I have the first four. Seems like it's time to remember the "king of rock'n'roll"!

Death metal, done in a totally no frills, non bullshit manner. It's the kind of tried and true formula that gives all those hipster fags menstrual pains.

Obituary - "Set in Stone" - World Demise

I have had the biggest Obituary binge imaginable this past month (almost, drone trumped mine awhile ago). World Demise is a superb album though, could possibly be my second favorite Obituary album overall just behind Cause of Death. I hear a touch of industrial influences on this album in some of the songs, and I love it.
