Armor Column - Warmonger, off Maximum Collateral Damage

A hybrid of modern day Overkill and Ample Destruction era Jag Panzer? Hell yes, and especially in the vocal department. War might be a cliché in metal, but this band's blitzkrieg-like energy certainly makes it work. You can almost see the tanks and the explosions before you.

Been meaning to check out Jungle Rot for a long time, might get around to it this weekend.

NP: Enslaved - Roots of the Mountain

A gorgeous song... Riitiir is easily one of my favourite Enslaved albums already.

Voivod: Voivod

I felt like giving War and Pain another listen. I love the overt punk feel this has.

Candlemass - Where the Runes Still Speak, off Chapter VI

One of the best Candlemass songs, period. It's totally up there with stuff such as Black Stone Wielder and At the Gallows End. It has it all; the Arabic melodies, the epic scope, the awesome guitar and keyboard duel during the middle section, and a once-in-a-lifetime vocal performance by Thomas Vikström.

"I'M COMING HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOME!"

I hope you like the new album, dude. That'll be mostly what they play.

The new album was by far my favourite for 2012, so I don't think it'll be a problem.

Aorlhac - Mémoires d'Alleuze.

The sound of Aorlhac has always been a bit messy, and I never liked the vocals, but some of the riffs on this album (Opus I) are fucking glorious.

Kawir - Hymn to Apollo. This band is just amazing.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who knows them. But yes, they would be so much better if they had less flat, generic vocals.

Exhorder - Into the Void (Black Sabbath cover), off The Law

A flawless exercise in heaviness. These guys sure know how to take a classic song and amplify it. Not saying that it beats the original, but the improved thickness and added vitriol sure as hell don't hurt it.
