Just found out about this cool doom band whose apparently from from the same city as me. Sounds like a middle ground between Ozzy Sabbath doom and Candlemass's "epic doom" style. Some of ya'll will like it for sure.

Neat. Are you listed on airbnb or are the services only for MA users? Would be cool to meet you if ever I tread those areas.

After "holidaying" overseas for the past week and watching major news networks, I've come to the conclusion that I like watching gun debates. I'm not exactly sure if my life can get any more sad from this point on.

Also, is it just me or are all record labels/bands missing out on having a bandcamp site? Seriously, bandcamp is an amazing service, why don't more musicians have it? Hell, it INCLINES me to buy music, and that's something that's rarely happened before. And it makes sense why it would do such a thing as well, since it's a website that appears in google, hosts downloads right in the site page (no reference back to iTunes or others), and is run by the actual musicians/rightsholders. Shit of the future, man, and good on M-A for finally making bandcamp releases/online releases valid

NWN! is right behind it these days, as are Hells Headbangers.

Aside from those 2 I've got another 60 or so bandcamp links to various labels and bands in my favorites on my browser. An excellent site for sure though I concede I wish more of the long running labels would put their back catalogs on there. Heavy Artillery had one with full streams of every album until they were bought out (by metal blade?) and then everything was taken down... LAME.

Woke up this morning, and the rash is halfway gone. I'm still going to the doctor, but now at least I don't look like a burn victim.

Good luck with that X.

I'm looking for a switch in jobs. Doing stuff on your own is a long and painful process and it drags the life out of you. I'm actually considering getting in touch with a head hunter or some of those fancy consultants :<

Word on the street is I just demolished my first ever job interview (at 27). It's for a sister company to Walgreens that does home infusions for people who have just been released from the hospital. I'll be calling customers for their 30 day re-up of supplies and getting the orders ready. Significant pay increase from what I'm doing now, and I'll have benefits/401k for the first time ever in my life. I'm floating.

Hahah my biggest fear was that they were going to ask me to put my hair in a pony tail! No one said anything about it so I guess I'm clear. It was shockingly un-corporate, a lot more so than I was expecting. One of the guys who was doing the same job I'll probably have joked with me about drinking some of the product hahah. I told him he'd have to point out the best ones to me.

Sounds like you're going to get this job Jonpo, and ace it! Also, remember that four-day Deathfest passes go on sale again next Tuesday! :P

I don't really understand why people are bothered by clowns, either. I have to think pretty abstract in order to make a connection between clowns and primal fears. That kind of thing has never resonated with me.

I think that the fear of clowns must have something to do with the Uncanny Valley. You know, something that looks human, yet has some inhuman traits that make it unsettling? Yeah.....

I've only come across this phenomenon in the internet. I thought it a joke initially; I guess some people are just huge scaredy-cats.

Clowns and spiders, people on the internet freak the fuck out over them, and I don't get why. Clowns' sole purpose is to make children smile and spiders are tiny and mostly harmless. Goddamn everybody afraid of spiders has a vagina, so if you're a girl, great, if not, grow a fucking pair.

There have been studies than indicate that most children simply dislike clowns. Something about kids seeing the big clown shoes/feet/noses as monstrous or deformed. And (just quoting wikipedia here) when infants begin to process and make sense of facial features, The significant aberrations in a clown's face may frighten a child so much that they carry this phobia throughout their adult life.

Hey guys, anyone have suggestions for a nice but cheap vinyl player (budget perhaps around $80-140)? I've been starting to up the ante on my audio gear and so I'd like to upgrade the quality of my source while I'm at it, especially since metal is blessed to have vinyls still being released widely by bands. It'll probably only be used for music listening.

I'm curious about what other uses you would consider giving to a turntable besides "only for music listening".

8 foot ladder. The ladder was wet, and I wasn't wearing shoes that had enough treading, which probably made it worse than it had to be.

Encounter a brown recluse or a camel spider. Those things are eldritch abominations summoned from Hell itself.

Also, I've never had a clown phobia. I've always loved evil clowns.

Just wait till an evil clown "loves" you...

Getting away from clowns, turntables, and spiders (and the various torture scenarios that combination of ingredients conjures in the mind) for a moment: Just gave a full listen to Abyssal's Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius today during a convoluted jaunt through Greenwich Village, and damn does it qualify as in-excess-of-a-sufficient-level-of-quality death metal! Really great stuff. And yes, it's better than Portal :P

Really been enjoying Serpent Ascending, as well.

Late to the discussion, but I agree that spiders aren't really scary. Clowns though? They're simply..... Off.
