I don't know how to explain properly but can anyone recommend me some "happy" sounding bands/songs? Something which sounds major, amazing, very melodic, "fluffy" or christmas-like?. Something which would make you cheerful. I'd also like to hear something brutal and technical fused with something melodic and major or presence of melodic vocal/keyboards

Wuthering Heights can be quite cheerful at times.

If you're looking for happy black metal, then Dekadent is where it's at:

The closest thing to "happy metal" is funk metal stuff like Living Colour & Infectious Grooves, but obviously a lot of those bands aren't even metal.

Astral Doors, since someone recommended Wuthering Heights, something about the vocals always make me giddy.

This Dark Moor song always make me smile.

Is there a distinction between "Happy" and "Merry" - if not, there is a huge swathe of cheesy folk and power metal just waiting to be heard - it's not my genre of choice, but there are plenty of bands in the vein of Korpiklaani and the like.

Neonfly

Power Quest

Freedom Call

All very happy, very powerful and very melodic. May not be particularly heavy but hopefully they should do ya!

Edguy's Theater of Salvation album; that's the quintessential "happy" power metal album for me.
Here's an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sDStUvmCMY

You might wanna try The Crown.

Rebel Angel, Killing Star, Satanist, Back from the Grave, Kill 'em All, have an upbeat, energetic sound that you might like

Forgot to add Dream Evil.

Their album The Book of Heavy Metal is very uplifting and fun! Definitely worth a shot.

Well, that's not uncommon at all. Many people go on 4chan in order to get off.

Even when they're trying to be tough, most Japanese girl bands somehow just can't help but sound positive and happy.

That music video gave me a boner for the drummer's clavicle.

On the fluffy side: Keldian, Epiclore and some Rhapsody would definitely be right up your alley.

On the brutal but happy side, I second Kvelertak. There's also this song by Nargaroth you might enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvfQqJeNF08

Great recommendation.

I'll add Nargaroth's "Frühling", very happy, festive sounding black metal song.

Stop recommending Freedom Call, it makes me sad they suck so hard. On topic, Eucharist is a great melo-death band that seems joyful to me and of course the incredible Imaginary Sonicscape by Sigh might be one the happiest albums in music.

I'd like more bands like Freedom Call. Really flowery, catchy and cheesy, but it has some meaty riffs in there as well. Stuff like that!

Kind of related, but has a power metal band ever wrote a song about sexual intercourse with or among dragons....?

Neonfly have some great riffs and really passionate vocals.

Hammerfall you may already know of, but are one of the cheesiest bands out there!

Edguy are a really popular band as well. Their newer stuff is simpler, but still worth every moment of your time!

Nocturnal Rites besides their latest album have a particularly powerful stuff.

Power Quest has everything you are looking for (besides the dragon fucking :P).

Any Stratovarius styled power metal. I'm a fan of Sonata Arctica, they definitely started off in that sound, although by Unia they were adding progressive elements and becoming darker. Relatively at least. But I'm a fan of the way they put somewhat depressing concepts to happy music. I've started a trend among my friends of referring to Silence as a happy breakup album. It's actually pretty funny.

Devin Townsend's Epicloud album for sure.

On the other hand, I'm totally thinking Maiden at this point, so...

I found a song that's kind of about sex with dragons.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0my5wLpBCjE

I'm also willing to bet a few KeyDragon songs are lyrically what I'm looking for... but this thread is about "Happy metal"... and KeyDragon depresses the living hell out of me.
