Normally people complain that MA is too underground and full of "close minded elitists who only listen to black metal demos limited to 666 copies on special red goat blood vinyl". Never seen anybody complain that MA is too entry level/mainstream.

He's talking about the Braveboard, not mA, and it really is as bad as he says. It used to be the only other metal forum I frequented because a huge portion of the local scene "hangs out" there, but I felt like banging my head against the keyboard when I'd look at teh first page and see about five variations of topics like 'So there's a new Megadeth album out?", or "what's your favourite Metallica riff"...seriously the same topics posted by different people with just slightly different wording in the OPs. THe moderation is pretty poor, but maybe better than it used to be, since one guy used to shut down topics started about shows he didn't support/endorse...I think that kind of stuff's ancient history now though...at least I hope so.

It's not "You", it's the fact that because MA has such a big footprint on the net the forums attract a lot of entry-level discussion which the kind of late-30's underground vet people who by and large make up that board find symptomatic of trends in social discourse they find distasteful. It's a version of "get off my damn lawn".

No issue with the RIP thing, but I WILL admit I was livid when you allowed users to put my date of birth up on my band's profile. It's just asking for identity theft and problems passing customs checkpoints when you try and fly under the radar as far as touring visas go.
