Manilla Road - The Courts Of Chaos

Remove the DOA cover song and this is a perfect album. Flows great from beginning to end.

I actually think that DOA cover is one of the best songs on there.

Alice in Chains - Frogs

Pure dejected misery. Digging the downbeat, sorrowful feel this has...

I find it out of place, slow, and too long. I love the 1-2-3 combo of 'Road To Chaos', 'Dig Me No Grave', and 'Into The Courts Of Chaos'.

Katatonia - Without God

This song features the angriest, most venomous harsh spitting I've ever heard by a human being. The ending still blows my mind off everytime.

Askeregn - Åndedrag

"Dude, there's no good black metal coming from Norway today, they're just not cutting it anymore!", say people who are completely imbecilic and probably deaf, too - or Watain fans, I neither know nor care.

I agree. Every now and then I have to listen to people complaining about "There has not been quality metal since 90's!".
What?!? FUCK YOU and open your FUCKING ears!

Triptykon - A Thousand Lies, off Eparistera Daimones

If this isn't the angriest song ever written by Tom Warrior, then it must be up there. Some fucking vicious vocals here too.

:np: Pagan Altar - "The Time Lord" - The Time Lord

I'm really psyched to see these guys at MDF now. Awesome band.

Aeon - Forgiveness Denied

My near-constand play of Aeons Black has prompted me to re-visit some older stuff. Damn this crushes.

Rotting Christ - Cold Colours, off Sleep of the Angels

This can hardly be called black metal, and I love it!

Carcass-Buried Dreams. Maybe I don't listen to enough melodeath, but for an album that's considered one of the most essential in the genre, it doesn't sound too much like most melodeath I've heard. Way less melodic and more thrashy.

Totenmond - "Mutterliebe" - Väterchen Frost

From deep within the German borders, Totenmond! Hehe, a bad ass punky death metal band. Very unique stuff.

Yes, musically they are one of a kind. I love how they seamlessly can infuse old style hardcore punk, extreme metal and doom metal into one coherent experience (kind of like Carnivore). Plus they manage to fit in progressive influences too. It's just too bad I don't speak a lick of German, otherwise my Totenmond experience would be even more enriched. Dammit...
