I'd also def recommend Sixbrewbantha, some good groovy parts and varied vocals. Should be right up your alley, maybe even more so then IW and DT80K since they're a bit more straight forward in their song writing and I remember Wormrot being pretty varied. All 3 are absolutely essential listening though.

Thanks fellas. I am already into Insect Warfare and Magrudergrind. Quite brilliant bands.

I checked out Death Toll 80k and wasn't to my liking. I think the guitar tone and the general atmosphere was a bit off from what I was looking for. Great band nonetheless, maybe i'll be able to digest them later on.

I'll check out Rehashed (Fit, drummer of Wormrot, had a Rehashed tshirt when I saw them live) and Sixbrewbantha in the coming days and let you know what I think.

SBB's new stuff rips even harder than the LP.

Maybe Afgrund? This album has a lot of groove and the vocals switch it up often enough

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81EAbvmAXHU

Cellgraft

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74OyzaHb ... ure=relmfu

Later era Extreme Noise Terror maybe? the album gets pretty groovy at times a'la death metal

In Disgust

Oh man, SBB is amazing. I am currently listening to their LP and it's gonna be on repeat for quite sometime.
I had heard of Afgrund before, just never checked their music out. That youtube video is quite promising.
Cellgraft is such an incredible band (at least I feel so). I checked out other live performances of theirs and I'm hooked! Brilliant recommendation!
ENT are a more popular band but I never really listened to them on a regular basis. Will definitely give their latest album a listen. And finally, I wasn't too keen on 'In Disgust'.

Anywho, thanks a ton for the recommendations, I'll get back to SBB now!

Glad you dig it man, solid band.

For something similarly frantic but in more of a fastcore direction as opposed to straight up grind you should check out Hummingbird of Death. Not their newer material so much but the Diagnosis: Delicious EP, Goatmeal 5", and their split with I Accuse.

I'd also recommend PLF, less groovy than SBB but still pretty varied and punishing.

not getting the SBB hype. only checked out their LP, sounds like fairly typical well produced fastcore/grindcore. What am I missing?

On the other hand I gave my Saywhy? / idiots parade split a spin the other day and forgot how great those bands are (and were)

Saywhy?

Central European bands are killing it.

They just do what they do very well, and throw in some different-than-usual riffs to keep it interesting. I also like how they don't settle into d-beats that often, they just keep the intensity going. Their upcoming splits are even better than the LP, like I've said before.

I haven't listened to Idiots Parade or Saywhy in a while, thanks for the reminder!

I'm wondering what the resident grinders here think of Dethroned Emperor? It's pretty gritty grind with heavy war metal & death (think early Cryptopsy and Suffo) influences. I feel like they get some flack for not being trve DIY anarchoveganpunxgrind, but I love 'em.

I enjoy them. on a side note I don't really know of any vegan grind bands... not that it even makes a difference and if someone says cattle decapitation I swear I'll stab someone.

Re: Dethroned Emperor
Not bad but I think they have too much to do with death metal musically (in a non-deathgrind way) to really even be classified as grindcore.

Calling Dead in the Dirt a grindcore band is kinda stretching it... more like hardcore that occasionally blasts.

ENT were(are) vegans i think.

Cloud Rat are vegans i think? it's too bad all these bands can be so right about music and politics, but so utterly wrong about their diet.

Yea I wouldn't consider Dead in the Dirt grind at all. Though I really do enjoy them, also didn't know they were vegan. I'm glad that's not part of their whole stickt.

yea lol on them right about politics.

Checked out that Dethroned Emperor page, and that compilation of theirs is pretty ripping so far (Vincent Price samples certainly don't hurt ;)).

ENT were vegans. I'm pretty sure in an interview they had recently (withing the last few years) they said they were not vegans anymore.

Anything out there nowadays similar to Assuck's "Misery Index" besides that Worlds 7", Cellgraft, and Gate? Been digging all of the above lately and was wondering if I'm missing something current. Shit, every time I listen to "Alabaster" I wish the band had stuck it out to record at least another 7".

Yes. They are called Amputee. Set up a show in a basement with them, they even covered Socialized Crucifixion. Serious Assuck worship.

Maybe a bit obvious, maybe a long shot, but how about Misery Index's stuff before Retaliation? I still love Overthrow.

It really sounds like later Assuck? I forget which Misery Index albums I heard but they had more in common with Dying Fetus than their namesake. Still, I shall give it a go.

If you guys are interested I make noisegrind under the name Severed End its low-fi, inspired by all kinds of extreme metal and electric music, The sound projects freedom, heaviness, and can induce headaches. My favorite demos that I have created under that name are PentagramII:Imagination Reality[ https://soundcloud.com/#severed-end/set ... magination ] if you listen to it as a whole it sounds like you are atop the throne of hell and PentagramIIII:Eyes of the Awakener [ https://soundcloud.com/#severed-end/set ... s-of-the-1 ] if you listen to it in its entirety sounds like you are occult magic bound in transdimentional travel destroying everything in your wake.

In all fairness the posters on this forum are asking about grindcore recommendations and despite Severed End being rejected, I can promote it in the promotional forum even though its not metal by the archives standards. I thought that METAL ONLY meant promoting metal that was so by the archives standards. Not trying to be a smartass I just would like some clarity eventhough you told me to post this where you told me to post it, just for future reference. Thanks

Ah, I thought they were on the site and I didn't checked to confirm if it was the case. I'm not aware of all the rejections. But the usual etiquette is that promotion outside of the Promo forum is kinda lame.

my to-do list includes this, The Kill's Make 'em Suffer, and Violent Restitution's s/t. Speaking of Violent Restitution.... does anyone own this b/c the tracks on the bandcamp sound like super low quality- i hope that's not how it actually sounds.

http://violentrestitution.bandcamp.com/album/s-t

Compiling my year's top albums and it's surprisingly boring, have I missed any awesome grind/pv? (i know there's dephosphorus,CoH, cellgraft, the kill, and sbb).

I've also realized why SBB's been sitting poorly with me; that snare drum. I hate that setup with meaty kicks and a snare that bores itself into the center of your brain. Otherwise I've come around to it a bit.

You probably saw my list on the TLAL board but you should def check out the following grinders if you haven't already:

Grinchfinger - In Tune With Grind
Powercup / Pizzahifive - split
Gowl - Submit To Only Noise
Misanthropic Noise / Pizzahifive - split
Misanthropic Noise - Grindcore Ruined Our Lives

Yeah, going out to LI does suck, and I'm in the same boat as you as far as Magrudergrind goes (especially since two of the dudes moved up here), but I've been itching for another grind show lately.

Glad people be digging Water Torture. Thomas the drummer is really nice and so is the bass player Matt.

Really digging Six Brew Bantha. Why do they have to be on the West coast though! Damn you Upstate New York and your lack of a grindcore scene! Born too late I guess.

Edit: I think my friend and I are the only ones that don't like Magrudergrind. People make such a big deal about them but I don't see the appeal anymore. Way better bands in my opinion.

How 'Bout Some Danish grind?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dm657PsYho

Sidenote 1: Moms on Meth is awesome.
Sidenote 2: Suffering Mind/DT80K split coming next year.
Sidenote 3: Why does no one mention Sidetracked? For me they're the greatest pv band around these days, too bad, they put out 2 minutes of music half a year.

Got the new Hatred Surge 7". Pretty boring mid/slow paced death metal with a cacophonous production. What the hell has this band done? I also say this having really liked the Mammoth Grinder Split and Brutal Supremacy comp.
