I think there's a chance I might be able to be in the next one if it's black or doom or somethin :]
and I might be able to do a collab with someone, since I've improved with my black metal vocals lately.

one last post before I force myself to bed haha

perhaps the next challenge should be combining a genre with another genre that the person isn't as comfortable with? idk

EDIT: or maybe like. Grind.
or Blackened Grind.. I'm always down for some Anaal

Grind would be fun. We could have like twenty participants and have the compilation be 25 mins.

Could some sort of themes be assigned with grind, like hybrid genres or certain types of grind/bands to be inspired by?

That's not a bad idea. Genre challenges are alright but I like having the element of randomness to make it a challenge. We'd need someone knowledgeable in grind to put together some criteria though.

Never done grind, but the idea of a short, chaotic song sounds like fun. Especially goregrind. I'll put my vote in for that.

SLK probably can write 150 grind songs in a day and release it the day after.

also lol, SLK thinks he's Napoleon.

I'd like to participate to the grind challenge, I have some lyrics laying around so fuck themes! (at least for me) or simply give me "porn". I might get Juicebitch or Necro.

I can't be Napoleon, I'm not short.

i didn't really think themes as in lyrical. I mean some sort of guideline. cause grind has plenty of subgenres like metal does. I didn't know if were going to narrow it down or anything. If not, no problem.

and I could try to do 150 grind songs in a day. I think the most I've ever done in a day was 60. the only way it's possible is if I'm doing it during my vacation that way I have all day to do so.

Since we are doing a grind challenge, I do think it should be at least 5 songs each. basically everyone doing an mini-ep

At least that way it would be plenty for us all to listen to and at least more of a challenge than just squeezing out a single song.

doesn't matter on time length but try to keep it on the shorter side.

Would this be for Jan? I'll be willing to throw down drums on shit if it is. I'll be home.

haha I wasn't thinking that short really. hell i rarely ever write a song that short since many times they don't sound complete to me. I was thinking more along the lines that none of the songs should be over 2 mins. I think 2 mins is about the longest most grind runs when it's getting lengthy and I think a minimum time of at least 10 secs... cause really if you are going to do early meatshits stuff where you hit a chord and scream in one second and call it a song I don't want to be bother since anyone can just do that. I want to hear some song writing at least and you can cram a ton in 10secs if you choose.

The Shortest I'll probably do is like.. 25 seconds lol i dunno.
yeah under 10 is kinda lame. but i do love stupidly short songs lol

Swweeeeeeeeeet. I'm going to do all goregrind. I'm taking a pitstop here in New York (finger lakes, wine country) and on Thursday I'll be at my new home in Maryland. It'll be a good way to break the place in, by writing a bunch of goregrind. I'm going to write a song about raping someone with a john deer tractor. Oh, I should write one about Hellboy fisting someone. And I have to say, the minimum of 25 seconds is like a challenge to me. I tend to try to make my songs 4-5 minutes, so I'm going to try to write a 30 second song and fit everything I can in there, including a guitar solo. Now I just need to learn to shred, so I can fit more notes in 3 seconds, haha

It can be done! i've thrown guitar solos in 40sec pv songs!

Well I'll host if no one else wants to, and probably we'll have a large gap of time for everyone to join in and actually possibly get shit done. like how the doom challenge was a month and a half I figured this would be maybe 2 months.. hell set it for next week cause there are bound to be people free to do stuff while on holiday (maybe)... and then have it run till Feb 14th?

and stupidly short songs are great if they at least sound like songs, hell I just happen to write a 10 sec song today. I didn't really intend to.. it just fit right and I really couldn't think of anything to follow up the last riff with.

Anyone up for working with themes? Genre and/or lyrical? Based on another band's album artwork, randomly assigned to you? I could do the work to make any of those happen if anyone is interested, and limitations do make the these more challenging!

This is a good idea. Grind isn't really my thing but I'd agree with Zodijackyl that themes make things a bit more interesting.

So would the band's artwork be from other grind bands to kinda narrow down what genre you are tackling or will it be album artwork from any assortment of bands?

I'd prefer to at least keep it to grind/pv bands.

I like the idea of themes in general, but personally I don't want a theme for my music for this particular challenge. I tend to write the majority of my lyrics in a socio-politically charged manner, so writing goregrind will be both new to me (well, kind of), and fun. I just got into my new townhouse in Maryland today and my furniture or anything hasn't arrived yet, just what I brought with me, which is basically 5 cases of wine, 2 guitars, my computer and direct box, and some cats, so I'm going to try to "break in" my new place with a goregrind song tonight. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! I'm going to write a song about having a hole cut in the side of a person, then said hole being fornicated. Nice and gorey.

I was hoping the theme wouldn't have to be lyrical but more if you don't know what kind of grind you want to tackle well here is say... Brodequin or The Endless Blockade to give you a push to try to go for. I don't know Zodi don't want to come back to address it.

write one about an alien licking out someones eye so they can fuck the socket and they fuck it so hard the skull cracks and the cum is parasitic and eats the victims brain so they trip balls and flip out and rip out their kidneys and twitch as they die.

Or their parasitic cum takes over their brain, turning them into an alien slave. It'll be a concept album about aliens enslaving the human race via eye socket-fucking.

You mean the theme would be much like the art challenge, but with existing album art? but .. all goregrind?
