I have an affinity for the more experimental forms of metal, and as such have heard a LOT of crazy avant garde metal bands.

But this takes the cake.

Do not hear 10 seconds and run away screaming from the speakers. Give it time to get its cyborg alien tentacles into you and trust me, ye shall crave the insanity. Also let me know if I am now certifiably insane in liking this immensely ? What does it do for you ?

I... Uh... Wha... Damn. What the hell was that? Nope, not digging it. And I like crazy avant-garde stuff. But this? This didn't make any sense. I'm not even sure if it's supposed to make sense, though.

... Dubstep?
I don't know its ok, lot of conventional melody at play, but it just sounds like dubstep to me.
I don't know if you insane, my sis really enjoys it too.
for "unhinged" I'd go with NOISM or Orthrelm.
I prefer GXXX, lot less melody http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIgFM2JlJxg

sounds like the guys who upload those "LOL ITS 8-BIT METAL LIKE ON A NES!" videos to youtube started listening to dubstep. can't see how it would relate to heavy metal in any sense.

Yeah, I'm unimpressed (not like I was expecting much). This just sounds like Whourkr/Igorrr with less of an idea to go about writing a song. Not to mention it's hardly metal at all since it seems a lot more infatuated with breakcore and dubstep than metal riffs.

well this is pretty boring and disappointing. bleeps bloops and cutups I've came across many times before in more interesting songs/projects.

Meh.

This isn't metal, nor is avant-garde, nor is it particularly experimental, nor is it unhinged.

OP, you have failed us miserably.

Disco Volante by Mr. Bungle...I've nearly caused a couple car crashes with that album.

I put my Smiths bootlegs on pause for this?

UNHINGED? This is pretty tame... I mean, the vocals are pretty intense, and it's "unusual music", but hardly groundbreaking or mindbending stuff.

I actually do dig it, though... pretty much just monochromatic, cold breakcore with EBM and metal influences, tho... What it sounds like to me, anyway. Heck, O.L.D. were doing the whole "fusion" thing long before this.

Like I said, I actually enjoy this, and it has a pretty unique atmosphere that sounds rather "unreal", but this isn't really that "out there", assuming I'm not just jaded... :/

Noooooo. I would not even come close to describing this as Dubestep (of any kind... be it "traditional or the annoying BRAP BRAP "brostep" variety that's constantly invading advertisements now).

EDIT: Okay, no... I just got to the WUBWUBWUB parts... Yeah, I can see the dubstep influence mentioned earlier now.
PS: As others have mentioned, hardly Metal at all... and def. not "avant-garde" (not that most AGM is).

I hate the use of the word avant-garde when it comes to most metal bands.... John Zorn, John Cage, Steve Reich, etc. Those guys were avant-garde. This music is pretty frickin' normal in many many many ways. Nor is it particularly good.

Yeah I couldn't even finish the first one that's just bloody awful to me at least. And is it just me or are some of those spoken word vocals ripped from fringe?

Wow, that was completely stupid. It's not 'unhinged', it's just asinine. And yeah, completely not metal at all.

I like you. The Smiths = <3

But yeah, this isn't bad but describing it as avant garde metal is ridiculous. I listened to a few tracks and it seems like glitchy breakcore mixed with bits of dubstep, modern EDM, drum and bass and a hint of metal influences. While I'm not much for labels it's way off the mark to call this metal.

That sounded like my father's ass.

The most unhinged music I can think of is Kryzstof Penderecki. His music, while still sounding like he was legitimately trying to not be an ass, is pretty outlandishly wildly fucky. "Experimental," I mean.

It's really cool stuff.

For as hard as Mike Patton was trying and as unapologetic and childish as it is, Mr. Bungle's debut is really unhinged. I mean, if you think from the perspective of Mike's imagination. He had a deep love for pretty poppy forms of music, so his 'unhinged' imagination would sound like a caffeine-riddled anthropology report on the last fifty years of western popular music.

Reminds me a lot of this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLa8Br569gA

I don't really see it as being particularly "unhinged", seems like it is trying to be weird and not quite getting there. I think stuff like Gigantic Brain is a bit crazier than this.

Burst out in laughter 1 minute in. The bleeps and bloops combined with weak ass screams form something utterly lame, not to mention the completely random note piano solo.

I would say it's not even extreme enough to be considered cybergrind or glitchcore, and it does have some dubstep and black metal influences in some songs. But I've heard cybergrind much worse than this, I don't think this is that horrible, but it does have some really annoying parts like the autotuned vocals.

Boring and terrible.
Honestly, this was one of the worst things I've heard in my life, and I used to work in A&R. Nothing "unhinged" or "avant garde" about someone trying to be as "weird" as possible, and failing. Miserably.

whooooah ! hold on horsie !

i do not detect any hipster content here at all.
this just proves that context matters a lot in metal (and this forum).

I guess i like it soo much because i have following the artists for a while.

It is one of the main songwriters / guitarists (Cal Scott) from Necrosanct (remember them ? - 90's killer death metal from UK)

He became something of a underground/AG metal visionry with Umbah.

To me it sounds more like a continuation of Umbah , except with less focus on tech. death metal.

Eye of the beholder, indeed.

Strange : i found Igorr to be more a jumble / mash-up with too many snippets of other people's music

this has some definite songs , whether you like the style or not : creature of malevolence, beat of the dead, myrtleberry lake etc

First track was kind of interesting, the rest of it was kinda filled with dubstep garbage and what-not. I'm surprised at all the hate the thread is giving. There are some cool ideas in there, it just needs solidification. It is definitely "unhinged" though. The spastic shifts are kinda cool.

Maybe I didn't listen to enough of this to hear the "other worldly death metal sound" but I sure as hell didn't hear anything remotely close to death metal in there.

Funny, when I think of "Unhinged music" the first stuff to come to mind is mad shit like Vulcano's Bloody Vengeance, early Sarcofago and maybe Beherit. Perhaps bizarro one-man projects like Furze, too, which contain an individual's singular insanity and uncompromising ideas about making music. I didn't listen to the link above, but genre mixing/bending and unpredictable changes in style and sound sound quite calculated and deliberate most of the time, and not unhinged. Note that I like some kind of weird stuff myself, so I'm not putting down artists like Sigh or Frank Zappa who are eminently unpredictable.
