Can you please recommend me bands with music similar to early Fates Warning, Queensryche and Crimson Glory... I really like first three FW albums with John Arch on vocals, Queensryche up to the Operation Mindcrime and Crimson Glory's first two albums, so I'd like to hear more music in the same vein. Heavy metal with progressive elements and high vocals, something like that.

Thanks!

Queensryche-influenced - Syrus, Mercury Rising, Damien Steele
Crimson Glory-influenced - Screamer
Fates Warning influenced - Enchanter, False Witness, Chozzen Phate, Cauldorn Born, early Steel Prophet.

Slauter Xstroyes, Adramelch, and Taramis are three of the early prog/power greats despite not sounding as clearly influenced by any of the big three. For ones that are, Mystic Force has some clear Spectre-isms, and of the many Queensryche worshipers out there, Drive has always been one of my favorites. On the demo side, A Shattered Dream and The Answer (of Texas) are great too.

Heir Apparent

Especially on "One Small Voice"

but you will come to notice that even with the wealth of great suggestions given above, this holy grail of metal perfection (early QR / CG) is nigh impossible to come by...best of luck

Thing is, Suicide Silence actually are more sonically massive than a good 95% of all the death metal bands in the Archives! Not metal, sure, but definitely a lot more brutal.

Prodigy - As Darkness Reigns should fit your criteria. Heavier than any of the bands in the OP, yes, but the influence is unmistakable. Any fan of Queensryche or Crimson Glory will be hugely satisfied.

I had created an identical thread about a year ago. Check it out: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=86531&p=1985881#p1985881

Definitely check out their first album Graceful Inheritance, much better than the second album.

Check out Phantom's "Cyberchrist". Much more Judas Priesty but has those sweet high screaming vocals you will surely dig.

Slauter Xstroyes and Lords of the Crimson Alliance should scratch the same itch.

i just knew someone was gonna say that....its a great debut but has more of a QR meets Preist vibe while the second seems more of QR meets CG kinda deal

Aside from all the mentioned before, I would definitely recommend you to check Sanctuary, Savatage, Powersurge, Jester's March, Sacred Blade, Secrecy, Fifth Angel and Cloven Hoof's "A Sultan's Ransom". All of them have different styles, but they all play a brand of power/progressive metal that would probably appeal to your taste.

Then, there are tons of more average bands that can also fit into this category but miles ahead from the better bands of the syle: Alias, Shadowkeep, Recon, Sacred Warrior, Scarlet Rayne, Siam, Lord Bane, Sanctum...
