So I'm spinning my original pressing of Asia's "Alpha" when I noticed something strange: the B side's label is marked as The SOS Band, and has tracks from their record "On The Rise" on it. These two "records" are from different record companies, so I have no idea how this could've gotten mixed up. The songs on both A and B are Asia's, so I was wondering if anyone else has come across this. I doubt it's a bootleg because of the quality of both the label and vinyl, but I could be wrong.

Any input would be cool.
Cheers.

Both albums were released in July 1983 and must've been manufactured at the same plant. I'd guess someone just messed up when loading labels on a machine.

Hm, right you are. Cool, cool. I wonder if this could be worth any bit more than normal.

^Or that. I have no idea. <_< Doesn't matter too much to me if that is the case, however.

I doubt it's got much value outside of a very limited market.
Asia aren't really a "cult"/"collector" band, if you know what I mean.

It's still neat, and I'd personally prefer to keep something like that in my collection for the novelty alone, but I don't suppose there is a big market for mispressed Asia records. Maybe if it were The Beatles or The Smiths or something, though.

Perhaps users on sites like Discogs would have a better-informed opinion on this though.
FWIW, there is no entry for a mispress version of the record on there... If nothing else, maybe you could add it and watch to see if any/how many users end up adding it to their wantlist to try to gauge the potential desirability/value of it.

That's a really good idea, I think I'll do that! And yeah, I just think it's cool as shit to have in my collection regardless. Not everyday you find a misprint of any kind of LP.

Depends on which Asia we're talking about :) (yes, I know this isn't the one we're talking about here, but it had to be done)

I fail to see any reason why "it had to be done" since it's clear "that Asia" has nothing to do with "this thread", but okay...
I'm pretty sure there are/have been dozens of other bands called Asia, too.
