Anyone else see The End has some huge discounts at the webstore? Any other labels having good sale for the Cyber Monday bullshit?

I'll have to check that one out; hopefully the shipping won't be horrendous. Dark Descent Records (lots of excellent underground death metal, some thrash and doom) had a pretty good sale lately; it was meant to end on Saturday, but all the sale items are still listed as such under the reduced price on the webstore, so... Not sure. It's not a label, but WOWHD (never sure which of those to capitalise, so I'm capitalising all of them! Yes, I'm sleep-deprived, hence easily excited...) are holding their '12 days of Christmas' thing (no idea why they're doing it now - nowhere near said holiday), with some pretty sweet discounts; they've got a great range of metal (entire Mournful Congregation back catalogue for $12.95 each, yay), so it's worth checking out. So, yeah... sorry. Shopping frenzy.

Btw, I won't get involved in another discussion about libertarianism (had enough in that crazy real world out there), but, darkeningday, 'Rand-tards' is quite awesome; mind if I borrow that?

I saw that sale from The End. Went through all the pages and didn't find anything I really wanted. GoHastings.com is having a 40% off sale when you buy 4 used cd's. Probably the best sale on the internet considering their 96 cent per item shipping.

The End has free shipping on orders over $40.00, at least in the US. With like twenty pages of CDs on sale, there wasn't a whole lot interesting there.

What's with The End's Canadian shipping? Two CDs and the cheapest shipping option is 27 bucks? I sent them an email asking about that. Ridiculous shit. Their sale last year was great, don't remember if that was Black Friday, or a Christmas sale. Hopefully they do it again if it was a Christmas sale.

I paid $30 a while back for shipping for a vinyl from US to UK, which seemed a hell of a lot, but worth it as it's OOP. That above does seem wrong.

For some reason, I expected the kid to end up as a serial killer.

The reason might be that you listen to metal. I think the kid should have become a serial killer. My advice to kids living in absurd nightmares like that.

So I may be moving away from here sometime early next year; my parents are getting into the housing market game and want me to be a landlord of sorts. As part of the deal I get to keep a small percentage of the rent from my housemates, and well, I won't be living out in the sticks any more which will be nice.

That, or that I read enough about psychology to know how most psychopathic serial killers come to be. But still, the clip was hilarious, and the visuals great.

Nah. Technically Reno, Nevada is still a desert climate. Plus, Lake Tahoe right next door has some epic Black Metal album-cover-esque scenery. I'll make something work with that

On the topic of Heavy Metal and serial killers, I won't lie and say I haven't thought of offing a bunch of townies whilst jamming out to "My Angel is a Centerfold" on my cassette deck.

Maybe you would prefer "Hoth inhabitant"?

Come to think of it, Reno is where the Donner Party was. Or further North anyways. Cannibalism and freezing cold is Metal.

"That damn wastelander is scaring the kids again!"
I guess if you get your neighbors to refer to you like that you can keep the title.

Out of curiosity, are there any other Blink 182 fans on metal archives?

There was this one kid I remembered that hated the drummer (Travis Barker, was it?) just because he didn't use a double kick pedal for his kit. That's like saying a guitarist sucks because he/she doesn't use extra stings.

Fun fact:
Apparently Travis Barker is from this little desert shithole.

I think they're pretty good (well, were) at what they do. Much better than Sum 41. I don't feel the need to listen to them very often, but some of their older stuff is fun to listen to while drinking or whatever.

I revisited Blink 182 a couple months ago. They were probably the first band that literally got me into music in the first place back in 1998. After revisiting, I only like 2 songs: "Stay Together for the Children" and "Adam's Song". Nothing else really stuck for me.

Betwixt all the bickering and belittling and baseless bravado and other alliterative ballyhoo in the Cerebral Bore thread, I discovered Abnormality's existence. This is the kind of tech death I like.

Also, the reason Sum 41 is superior to Blink 182 is simply because Blink never shat out legit punk songs like this.

EDIT: HOLY SHIT ABNORMALITY IS SIGNED TO SEVARED?! THEY ACTUALLY SIGNED GOOD BAND??

The reason Blink is superior to Sum is simply because Blink never shat out any legit punk songs. Real punk is lame, only sugar coated pop punk is real.

I love sugar coated pop punk. I have several gigs of crappy obscure skate punk and overpolished melodic hardcore. Blink was just a lame pop band while Sum 41 was at least an interestingly lame pop band.

Full disclosure: when both bands were at the height of their popularity my position was the exact opposite. I actually claimed that Sum 41 was the worst band making music at the time.

Disclaimer: They're more legit than Blink so you probably won't like them, but if you don't suck you'll realize they rule.

Hit the Switch
Mighty Midgets
The Decline
Mute
Close Your Eyes

That last one is my fucking jam right now. I listen to it ten times a day.

EDIT: Whoops, can't forget Atlas Losing Grip. Satanic Surfers vocalist there.

The Decline is my favorite of the six bands I posted, but Hit the Switch is a close second. "Tidal Wave" is what would happen if you forced me to write a punk song at gunpoint.

I fully admit that you, mindshadow, probably have good reasons for your views; I just probably disagree with them. Just don't call your opponents 'brain washed' - it's one of those insults that is impervious to any argument the other person makes; you can just repeat it over and over, regardless of what the other says. That annoys me. As does labelling any vaguely positive sentiment toward the EU/immigration/whatever 'political correctness'.

I find it impossible not to procrastinate with work if I'm on a computer. I could probably finish this essay I need to do in three hours, but there's so goddamned many distractions on here. And everything needs to be typed, so not like I can just switch the computer off. No idea how people can do it. So much uni work I need to be doing.

I don't want to argue, but posting the original link on the other page, all I expected is for people, especially overseas, to realise how things are over here.

I'd like to link to an article about an interesting study Anus talked about in their blog, but the articles they linked to are paywalled [rant]and paywalls are only marginally better than cancer AIDS[/rant] so unfortunately I have to link to the blog which has a habit of making everything sound pretentious and unscientific (but at least it's an improvement that they started naming their sources) so here you go: http://www.deathmetal.org/news/heavy-me ... you-think/

Fuck you, Times.

It would be cool to find the original publication of the study, because the survey Anus linked is something else for some reason.
