Ugh, seriously, I have a hard time understanding how these people are my age or perhaps just a couple of years younger. Not trying to sound all high and mighty here, but damn..... Have some fucking dignity, for crying out loud. A little thing called "context" exists, and teenagers don't seem to be aware of its existence nowadays.

And don't even get me started on Facebook. I'd delete my account if it weren't the only means of communication with many of my friends/ acquaintances.

I deleted it a couple of days ago. Decided it wasn't worth the perpetual stream of bullshit, whining and passive-aggressive comments.

I don't know what's worse: youngers complaining ''URGH SORRY FOR WHAT MY GENERATION HAS DONE TO MUZIC!!1'' or oldies who talk like ''BACKWHENMUSICWASGOOD!EVERYTHING PAST THE 80'S IS CRAP!!!!'' Both are really lame. Occasionaly an actual thoughtful comment shows up...but that's rare.

Facebook is similiar with the cringe-worthy comments. I use to stay in touc with people I otherwise wouldn't have contact with (or quite less) but the drama is unbelievable. FB would be funnier if it had a dislike button and perhaps some sort of check: e.g if your post add nothing it couldn't be posted.

Don't forget the kids who post like that, too.

I mean, fuck, at least 4chan can be entertaining once in a blue moon. I swear. Youtube is an abyss with a gravitational pull so stong no intelligence can escape it.

Well, every once in a while you do come across the soccer mom who thinks shes hip.

I love the fact that soccer moms are almost non-existent here in Comodoro Rivadavia. We could have less preachy church-goers though.....

You know those mega-churches with the hustler preachers? We've got one of those, Mormons, and every stereotype of the religious right-winger you can think of.

Well, we got Mormons, Jehova's witnesses (which, as far as I'm concerned, are the bloody same), Evangelists, some Baptists, and Catholics, each one of them preachier than the last. We thankfully lack in the stereotypical right-winger department though, even if a couple of them exist here. Hell, my mother's husband thinks Obama is the Antichrist and that Santorum was sent by God, so..... Yeah :nono:

Well, Victoria Beckham might have some justification. But I have a feeling that's not what you meant by 'soccer mom'. Do you Americans classify your mothers by the sports they're into?

Soccer moms are stereotypical modern mothers who shield their kids from anything "evil" (read; "fun") and are called such because they have a habit of sending their children to soccer clubs and wouldn't miss a game even if their life depended on it.

Blood Geometry is an absolute masterpiece of metaldom. It is on another level of composition, and musical texturing. The sense of scale, pacing and scope is absolutely immense. It's a giant album. Better than almost anything that has come out in the last decade or so. It is a maddening album, filled with these twists and turns, and has a very "rabbit hole" vibe, where each listen draws you closer and closer into this stark and beautiful void. It's the musical equivalent of exploring the ocean; huge in scope, terrifying, but wondrous and magnificent. It's sonic evolution.

If people don't like Blood Geometry it's because they don't give it the time it deserves and/or are big dumb babies.

C'mon PhilFrog, it's got a few riffs and a the same wash of ephemeral sound as all bands in this style. It's not even catchy like the good bands doing this stuff. Blood Geometry does not stand out.

Ooogboog, you quoted the wrong part of my post, but yes, they seem to want to seal their children away in little boxes for whatever reason.

But yeah, you have to be particularly fucked up as a person to think that keeping your children away from the outside world will turn them into good people.

I'm listening to this now (BG) I played it a few times when released (maybe I expected too much after years of waiting) but left it for a few months as I decided it was boring :oh shit: , but it is good, very ambitious, can't touch Levitating the Carnal for atmosphere though.

I think I should check this out...I have a hunch it's the kind of thing I'd like.

They've obviously never been to a football game in England. Drunken brawls, racist chants, and even that's mild compared with some parts of the world.

I know man, I'm from Argentina, where football games are always a second away from turning into full blown riots.

I'm going to be in a situation soon where I'm going to have to listen to copious amounts of classical music. I'm not very well-versed in the genre, so does anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking more for pieces of music rather than composer names.

Frog, I stand by you. We form a human chain and say "NO!" to the enemies of truth (you know who you are! :grr: ).

Empyreal, I highly recommend you check it out. I know you're a fan of The Ruins of Beverast, and BG has got that same sprawling scope and tenebrous grandeur, albeit shrouded in a much foggier, more ghostly veil. Like it or not, you will want to review it.

Ephemeral...? You mean ethereal?

The good bands doing this stuff... Well these I have to hear, then. Give us some names, John!

Wagner composed some great operas. This is one of my favourites. Franz List too, for that matter.

Hell. Might as well through in all the Russion nationalists in there.

Not only is that the only Wagner piece anyone ever knows, it's also the only decent piece from him I've ever heard. I don't know if you've ever actually seen any of his operas, but I simply had to get out of Tristan and Isolde after the first third, or my head would have exploded with a muffled "thump". It was goddamn fucking horrible, and boring beyond words. Never again shall I commit myself to any works of Wagner. And I've actually managed to survive close to 20 operas.
