I've gone mental with really down and dirty in your face, simple, crusty, thrashy, not ultra fast metal. Ideally I'm looking for records that have a similar sound to Darkthrone's newer material: F.O.A.D., Dark Thrones and Black Flags, Circle the Wagons. - These three records rock so hard, it's ridiculous (to me, anyway. I've heard of plenty who can't stand them).

What I've found in a somewhat similar vein is listed below (although the majority seems to be a lot more aggressive and fast):

  • Deströyer 666.
  • Midnight.
  • Deathhammer.
  • Toxic Holocaust (this is probably maxing out on both technicality and production quality).
  • Death Breath.
  • Speedwolf.
  • Aura Noir.
  • Black Breath.

I've also checked out Maximum Oversatan, but they haven't really released anything other than a short demo (which ripped ass, though).

The old farts Anthrax, Megadeth etc. and overly technical/well produced newer thrash (Fueled by Fire, Bonded by Blood, Warbringer etc.) can go fart in a can.

So, any of you got suggestions to further piss off my neighbor?

Probably a bit obvious but Slaughter "Strappado" is (I think) something you might be looking for. I'd also recommend both Bastard Priest albums. They are more death metal, but still very thrashy, raw and in your face!

how about Wastelander (RIP, unfortunately). Chances are pretty good you will like them - a great blend of Thrash, Black and some slight bits of crust. Partly mid-paced, partly faster. Have a try here:

Other bands you might like are maybe Dishammer (yes, it's Discharge meets Hellhammer sound) and Children Of Technology (think Onslaught, old Bathory and Motörhead in a ferocious mix)

maybe also Evil Army (though probably too fast for your request), Blizzard (Ger) and Warfare (not Thrash enough maybe)
SWORD OF STEEL - classic fantasy/horror artworks with a high dosage of blood and boobs ;)

Thank you all. I completely forgot about Bastard Priest myself, even though I already knew them. Dishammer rocks.

On a related note, I realized most of the mentioned bands actually hail from Hell's Headbangers Records and by extension of this fact I tracked down Trench Hell (talk about grimy production, damn) among other slamming bands.

And please, keep 'em coming if you feel so inclined.

Also: Sorry and thanks to the moderator who had to move this thread. I don't know how I missed this subforum.

Voivod's first album 'War and Pain' is actually pretty fucking nasty, crusty thrash. 'Rrrooaaarrr!!!' fits that bill too. And if you like Destroyer 666 and Aura Noir, Desaster would be right up your alley.

In case anyone else's on the hunt for ripping black thrash, I just found two very similar bands. Urn and Old. And they both fucking rock.

Thanks to all suggestions so far. Great stuff.

Sounds like you may like Vomitor? Maybe a little faster than what's in the OP, but it fits the grimy dirty thrash description perfectly.

I've divided my recommendations into two piles - "Probably too tecnical" and "You've probably already listened too..."

Probably too technical:
Nekromantheon [Not unlike Aura Noir]

You've probably already listened to:
Celtic Frost

...And then there's:
Children of Technology [Probably the closest, in my mind, to what you're after?]
Heavy-Metal Spotlight: Reviews of the renowned and the obscure. Most Recently: Windhand - Grief's Infernal Flower
I drum haphazardly in: Nolti Nan Gana Nan Nolta -- "Death By The Venomhammer" EP available on Bandcamp
