Same band. I never see them actually going by Pretty Little Flower anymore though and yeah, Splatterhouse is indeed awesome. I was on a Birdflesh kick for a hot minute a couple years ago, should go back and give them another listen... that Splatterhouse / Birdflesh split is top notch on both sides.

I'll definitely have to check that out. If you haven't already, check the split between Exhumed and Hemdale. It's a fuckin work of beautiful art.

I dig the Exhumed portion of that split for sure, came out of their best era imo. Dissecting the Caseated Omentum is a killer song. Never been able to get into Hemdale though.

I love that song, along with most tracks on that split.

I like Hemdale, I just don't care for Matt Rositano's high screams. His lows are sick, but his highs get quite obnoxious. I think they did a good job on that split, but no way in hell they'll ever match up to Exhumed.

Birdflesh anecdote for the day. I saw Brutal Truth play with PxDx and Repulsion a couple of years back and bought a Brutal Truth trucker hat. What does this have to do with Birdflesh? Well, the patch on the trucker hat had been glued on, so after a year or so of owning the hat i started to pluck at the patch and lo and behold it was a Birdflesh hat that the band (or their merch dude) simply pasted patches over.

Apparently the CD version is out somewhere, but I recently got my turntable working and would like it on vinyl. The two songs I heard sounded good, gotta hear the rest! Also, new Knelt Rote

Yea PLF a couple of years of go try to pass off that Pulverizing Lethal Force was their real name. Everyone who knew them still call them Pretty Little Flower and Dave pretty much accepted defeat that is always what everyone is going to know them as.

So I'm looking for a noise/grindcore band and I can't remember its name so can you guys help?

I saw a live video from them in youtube, the song did go like this;
First half of the song is a noise intro, then there's suddenly a grindcore breakdown and the guitarist goes nuts, he starts screaming and rolling on the floor and smashing his guitar around while the drummer does a blast beat or something like that

Can anyone help?

I've seen a bunch of bands do stuff like this, so I'm not really sure where to start...but I know they were definitely not playing "grindcore breakdowns", whatever the hell that means

Yeah, I'm not sure about the word... I mean when they suddenly start playing fast after the intro or something :D

EDIT: Also they dress up pretty clean on live shows.. if I remember right
In their one album there was like 20-30 songs, most of them were like 1 minute long

Sounds kind of like Yacøpsæ, try searching youtube for that.

Or maybe even Hewhocorrupts. pretty vague what you're asking for.

So been listening to Gridlink a fair bit lately, and was wondering if there are any other bands that play a similar style of "technical" grindcore which it seems is what they play. I know of Discordance Axis, and prefer Gridlink to be honest.

No band really sounds like Gridlink for better or worse. The sheer amount of riffs, melodic and otherwise compacted into each song is unmatched. However here are probably some of the closest you'll get, many of them containing members of Gridlink.

Noisear. Their drummer plays in Gridlink

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LHGRksE6GU

Cara Neir

http://caraneir.bandcamp.com/track/sons-lament

Mortalized - One of Gridlink's guitarists ( Takafumi Matsubara's) band prior to gridlink

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7rOa1q2L48

Human Remains Gridlink's other guitarist's prior band

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dnS3zdpmwg

Gride More recent releases fit better if you're looking for anything similar to Gridlink

Crowpath

How pig destroyer chose to destroy some good songs

http://www.absolutepunk.net/artists/sho ... ls&l=31552

the production is the flattest thing I've ever heard. Not to mention their retentions are just as lifeless.

Are your literacy skills really that bad, or are you being deliberately obtuse? Look at my first post.

Not really grindcore, but I think there were some people into Code Orange Kids in here. Their upcoming first full-length is streaming here: http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2 ... kid_1.html

First half of 'Liars // Trudge' is a killer.

I know it doesn't but after that 3 part post of reposting the original and then me restating what I said earlier thought translated it very much so.

hahahahaha

What else is there to be stoked about in the world of grindcore these days? I was thinking the other day that there aren't really a whole lot of releases that are making a huge impact (at least from what I could see) like, say, World Extermination did. You've got band's entire outputs that are staying solid (Suffering Mind), but not a whole lot that as a stand-alone release could sit next to something like Misery Index or Divided We Fall and STAY there. What have I missed out on guys? Anything from your local scenes that is tearing shit up under the radar?

Hmmmm... well, nothing on the level you speak of but as far as local bands that no one probably knows about you could look into God's Balls for some Scum-era ND worship, I think they have a fb page. We have plenty of fast hardcore bands that rip who generally fly under the radar but Atlanta is pretty much ignorant to the ways of grind unfortunately... and you obviously already know about Grinchfinger hehe

Definitely know of Grinchfinger haha

I'll check into God's Balls (lol). I saw that PLF had a new full-length coming out, that should be rad. Other than that, as far as grind goes I'm only super stoked on proposed new stuff from Internal Rot, The Oily Menace, and DT80K...I might be forgetting some. The Kill's new album was pretty good, though.

Yeah, stoked on new PLF though I hope it lives up to the stuff with Frank... Fajardo is a good drummer and all but I'm honestly not that big a fan of anything he's involved in, though not to his fault really.

For me, the biggest thing recently has been Greece's Dephosphorus. They've taken grindcore into another world and are running away with the best album this year.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeCk-Tnz ... re=related

Cellgraft's finale reminds me a lot of Insect Warfare, especially with their name and all.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_y2IhHN7Jr4

The Monomaniac Comp shows off some of the best young guns around, highlights being BodyHammer, thedowngoing, and Cloud Rat.

http://perpetualstrifemusic.blogspot.co ... vol-1.html

Check out my blog in the signature, I've covered a lot of this stuff (and more). Grindcore's a particular vice of mine.

Cellgraft, thedowngoing, and Dephosphorous stuff was good, totally forgot about them. Familiar with Cloud Rat from that three-way split they did with Wolbachia and The Oily Menace, definitely awesome stuff. I gotta look into BodyHammer, though. And I'm definitely familiar with your blog, FM. It's regular reading for me!

Shameless self promotion here.

Ryan Page, mastermind behind Body Hammer and Robocop, was kind enough to curate a mixtape for Perpetual Strife under the theme of Halloween (i know, I'm late).

So check it out, it's pretta-pretta cool.

Fairly generic but still pretty ripping crustgrind.
