Anyone else think this will become the next semi-popular subgenre? It's bound to happen someday. I'm sure there's already some hardcore bands with elements of black metal out there. I bet it'll rustle the jimmies of "trve" black metalheads.

I think it can work out, as long as the bands don't use the same formula that most modern metalcore and deathcore bands use, with breakdowns every 5 seconds.

Know of any "blackcore" bands? Feel free to share.

If you're not wedded to modern hardcore, the mashup of black metal and hardcore goes back a fair way. I'd wager there's some from the 80s, but the earliest I can think of is Gehenna from the early 90s. A lot of the bands on the edge of the Holy Terror scene had their share of blackened sections.

When done right, a personal favorite of mine. There are quite a few.

Tempest. More of a traditional hardcore style (think Integrity) with a strong dose of black metal and metal in general. Solace in particular is
great.

Mohoram Atta. Similar to Tempest this ain't your "chugga wugga" style hardcore. It's HHIG styled hardcore with a dose of atmospheric black metal and post hardcore.Drummer now plays in Fell Voices. Definitely listen to the split with Thou as that's their blackest material.

Nefastus Dies A bit on the cheesey/cliche side. But here you have inhale vocals, breakdowns, sweeping keyboards and amazing drumming. I actually like it a lot. They have many tie ins with other Canadian black metal bands of a similar ilk as well as deathcore/hardcore acts Despised Icon and Ion Dissonance.

Germany's Planks Might fit as well. More of a post-hardcore vibe with black metal influences. Check out their latest.

Technically you could say that Bathory is blackcore. They have a lot of GBH influence.
Then you have newer bands like Ildjarn which you could argue are more punk than black metal.

These days there is also this blackened crust thing going on with bands like infernal stronghold.

I've been really getting digging alotta this kinda stuff lately. Somebody recommended me this band awhile back on that thread Nevermore posted (thanks for the bump, by the way). Not very hardcore sounding, more atmospherical but still has a modern blackened sound to it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lj-fl3ydJe4
I'm just gonna dump like 3 more bands on here that I've really been into lately that might fit the category you're lookin for...
Antagony-El Banquette http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSwY8Sb1RTs
Aurora Black-Before the sun was created http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8P1ld3aQy4
Glass Casket - Too Scared to live http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sGEqZh1 ... re=related

Whoever mentioned the Holy Terror bands, I'll second this. Bands like Fear Tomorrow and Integrity put out some albums with definitively blackened sections of hardcore.

Ordo ab Khao is a French blackened hardcore band, but they only have four songs out. The vocals sound like harsh metalcore, the instruments remind me of Blut aus Nord's 777 - Sect(s); in fact, the guitar riff at the beginning of one song sounds 95% similar to the one in Epitome 02.

They private messaged me on YouTube years ago asking to check them out, I gave them a listen and it sounded really good.

first thing I thought of after looking at some of the other bands being linked was Celeste

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQrU6-nhUy4&feature=list_other&playnext=1&list=ALzxNYRMVOCRi8p8nC4snuPNSZ7r3Kdj2E

that tempest is great, ordered it this morning.

I was going to recommend a couple of local bands that I know mix some black metal elements into their music, but ... well... they don't compare to Tempest.

Well, I'm partial to Rivers of Nihil. I like these guys and they are definitely one of the most talented bands from my area. However, their genre is largely based on technical death metal. They have black metal moments and deathcore moments, sometimes they interweave. Sometimes they go into a completely mellow Jazz fusion break like Meshuggah before slamming Devourment style. Not a lot of samples on Youtube, but here's one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwu3yLCPxZc

Then there is I Am The Trireme from Philadelphia. Surprised the hell out of me when they opened for Horna up in Allentown because the imagery and logo was screaming out "I AM A DEATHCORE BAND" to me and they go up and played black/melodic death metal. They fuckin' burned a bible on stage. How kvlt is that? I think their recent EP is more blackened melodic death metal, but they've had this blackened influence throughout their discography.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlZwp5YNJz4 <--- This is from their second release. It may not be something to phone home about, but this is what I think of when I hear the term blackened deathcore or blackcore.

But of course, preconceptions can always be proven false. Perhaps true blackcore is crusty and draws from classic hardcore, just like with Tempest. Wonderful recommendation, thanks! If this is what overtakes djent as the next big thing (Djent seemed to be the one to overtake deathcore), I can live with that. But I doubt it'll be I Am The Trireme or old Abigail Williams playing blackened deathcore that creates a new and unique merger of black metal and hardcore.

How about The Secret?

http://www.last.fm/music/The+Secret

Also...I'm going to get hate for this...but Bleeding Through's Declaration album has some undeniable black metal riffs and influence on a few songs.

Night Hag are blackened hardcore. However, the hardcore part refers to hardcore punk and not the breakdown sort of hardcore.
