Speaking of books and authors and literature things, I just started reading a book by Vonnegut and I'm loving the hell out of it so far.

Which one? Kurt Vonnegut is easily one of my favorite authors.

Also, I enjoyed Dark Tower more than I made out but there was just a huge amount of balls in the latter half of the series.

Galapagos. About 80 or so pages in and it's really, really good. A lot different than the last book I tried to read, Crime and Punishment.

Mitt Romney. Binders full of women. The night is OVER.

Best part: this isn't even the dumbest thing he said tonight.

I watched the debate entirely and I glanced over that because I understood what he was trying to say. Getting a little picky there... though looks like the rest of the internet hasn't. I still hate the guy. You're right that he said some dumber things in the last two hours. Didn't even have to watch tv - youtube had it set up (albeit laggy at first) so that you could do homework, watch porn, listen to Asphyx and watch two hacks debate - all at the same time!

I watched the debate live, Obama came across as dominant, Mitt changing his stances hilarious. "American jobs, I CARE"

The pension thing was funny too.

*For the record I don't like either of them.

Went through and looked at the racks of CDs wondering what to listen to. Ever have that moment where you look at a disc on the shelf and you're like "I didn't know it was time to listen to you, but clearly you were what I was subconsciously looking for the last few days?" Those are good times.

This election is going to be another one of those "won by a hair" type of deals methinks. From the people I've talked to no one seems to favour either one.

The way I look at it, Mitt Romney wants bad things (And is terrible at hiding it), and Obama wants -slightly- different bad things, and is reasonably good at hiding it. Fuck 'em both.

One thing I've learned with a few select friends of mine being clinically diagnosed as turd licking assfaces, is that nobody (except Bill Belichick) is truly a Bond villain. Nobody willingly does the wrong thing just to be an asshole, everybody thinks they're right, that's why they believe in whatever they believe in so strongly. I do honestly believe that both Mitt Romney and Barack Obama want to get America back on track. They both want the cartoonishly huge debt to be a thing of the past and for reduced unemployment and happier Americans, they just have different ways of reaching these goals. They both tread two different paths to the same goal of a better country, and they fucking hate each others' guts as a result. It's silly, but that's how America works because our government is split into teams and all anybody gives a shit about is their team winning. We're just entering Super Bowl season.

Man, I love mentally reading some of the rants in the "why was band x rejected/deleted" thread in that "Dramatic Reading of a Breakup Letter" voice.

Gods, that debate gave me AIDS. Essentially, it was Romney saying random stuff that didn't really trace back to the source and Obama replying with "NUH-UH!"
Binders full of women possibly made that worth watching, however. When that phrase was said, I saw at least 10 facebook pages and groups form again.

Last night's debate confirms I'm voting for Obama because Mormon Mitt goes into factual freefall when the room gets hot. Granted, Obama isn't the The Dark Knight of America (well, I take that back), but at least he got his shit in order and fried Romney.

Thank god he came out victorious on this one. It's downright embarrassing that he lost the first one to Romney.

That "binders full of women" is hilarious, not because he "fucked up" or whatever, but because it makes no sense at all.

He only "lost" because he was surprised by Romney's total abandonment of all his supposed stances on issues. I'm sure he had prepared all sorts of great material to respond to Romney's platform up until that point.

Who cares its not as if they're both all that different anyway with regards to the major issues, Obama has no idea what to do with economy and Romney would redistribute wealth taxpayer dollars to a war with Iran and an even more bloated defense budget. They're both terrible and the debates are a horrible joke

Yeah, sure whatever keeps you going at night knowing you're either voting for a guy that has a kill list and blows people up with remote control drones or the other guy that thinks the government's best function is to benefit his golfing buddies.

In all seriousness, I can't wait for this election to be over.

Two sides of the same coin. The notion that 300 million people have to choose between two opposite extremes is asinine... especially when the candidates are merely pandering to their target voter demographic, regardless of what they actually believe or their intentions truly are, which only furthers the stupidity of the whole thing. Is there really a difference between the two? REALLY?!

No different than the whole Sesame Street blow-up a couple of weeks ago. Here, "enlightened" voters. Focus on these shiny objects that make for soundbites with replay value and trope-y internet memes you can share among yourselves and pretend that you have a clue about what's going on as opposed to the actual issues that were discussed (or at least touched on, albeit inadequately.) We're all just so fucking witty and clever!

I'm not a fan of the guy either, but there's an apparent minority of those whom didn't watch the circus last night with the sole intent of looking for little quotes and faux-pas from either candidate to snipe at so we can pat ourselves on the back at how in tune our slacktivism is with real-world events. Now if you don't mind, I have another anti-bullying campaign to "like" so I can support the wellbeing of white photogenic girls from committing suicide, because they're the only ones that are such victims.

I'm pointing out my indignation by referencing the Amanda Todd incident as another bandwagon attempt for swaths of the "socially conscious" to rally their limp-wristed moral righteousness behind while neglecting other examples of the same thing.

Of course I'm mimicking their attitude, as hypocritical at it appears. The difference is they deserve to have it reflected back to them. If that comes off as if I'm portraying myself as above such things, so be it.

That's an incredibly ignorant statement. One has to be better than the other unless they have the exact same stance on every significant issue, and even then, personality is going to come through eventually. The fact that you seem to want to believe that they're both the same suggests that you're too lazy to actually dissect either candidate enough to choose one. By rationalizing that nothing voters can do would make a difference for the country, you've made it feel okay for yourself to sit back and not even try to make a difference.

Okay, I wasn't trying to be too vicious there, but that statement just annoyed the hell out of me.

That's good to know, and instead of going on some lengthy rant about how I'm too lazy to research the actual issues, why not share what substantial differences between them instead? I didn't think so but thanks for trying to be the better man here.

The fact that they're two different people that aren't from the same family should be enough to tell you that they have substantial differences. Pretty much everyone has substantial differences. Not to mention the fact that they have different views on several issues. Sure, they might spew bullshit 24/7 that suggests they want the same things to appeal to as many demographics as possible, but that doesn't actually mean that's what they believe.

The fact that there are two different people doesn't prove a damn thing. They both support massive spending albeit allocated for different purposes, they both have insane foreign policy ideas, and they both are owned by interests that have their own stakes to gain. Though they are minutely different with Romney have more corporate backing and Obama with more banking backing, its not enough and is even far less than the differences held from Mccain and Obama in the prior election. Of course its not what they actually believe but this is irrelevant in terms of overall policy they're remarkably similar, voting in this election is meaningless.
