That song was specifically for the soundtrack wasn't it? I was under the impression it wasn't a representation of what the band was doing. I certainly hope not because that was the worst song they've ever written.

Probably so. Which is why in these circumstances, saying that the album is their darkest yet is somewhat justified. Provided that the claim has any basis, that is.

Only Disma is on par with current Incantation IMO, for good and quite obvious reasons. I don't see the album sucking or being barely average so I can't wait.

I haven't been floored by anything I've heard since Diabolical Conquest. The Infernal Storm had it's moments, but the production left a lot to be desired. Which one of the later albums is generally considered the best?

Dunno about everyone else, but the best recent Incantation for me is Primordial Domination. I love the production on that one.

My personal favourite post DC album is Blasphemy, just because its a bit faster and livlier, has a bit more of an identity than the others. Love it all though, wouldn't give any of them lower than an 80-85 or so.

I also think Blasphemy possibly ranks above Decimate Christendom and Primordial Domination, but aside from The Infernal Storm not quite being in the same league as other albums, I consider them all to be quite equally good.

I also like the production on Blasphemy the most. It's thin and rough, but it does seem to augment the album's vile, decayed atmosphere.

I'd also go for "Blasphemy" as my favourite album after "Diabolical Conquest." Not by a huge margin, though, I like them all a lot.

I agree with what everyone else has said. 'Blasphemy' is an excellent album.

Incantation's last good album was Diabolical Conquest, and even that wasn't as good as any of the material that preceded it.

I expect this to be painfully mediocre, just like the rest of their recent work. At this point Incantation is as much of a copycat retro act as the bands that are copying them, they've got basically nothing to do with the band that recorded Onward to Golgotha.

INCANTATION DISPLAY NEW ALBUM ARTWORK AND TRACKLISTING
US death metal pioneers INCANTATION have revealed the cover art and track listing for their anticipated new album,” Vanquish in Vengeance. “

The long-awaited followup to 2006's “Primordial Domination”, “Vanquish in Vengeance” carries a recurring lyrical theme that addresses the countless acts of genocide in the name of religion throughout our history.

Vanquish in Vengeance was recorded at Mars Studio with Bill Korecky and mixed by Dan Swano at Unisound Studios.

Cover art comes courtesy of Worthless [www.worthlessendeavors.com].

TRACKLISTING :

1. Invoked Infinity
2. Ascend into the Eternal
3. Progeny of Tyranny
4. Transcend into Absolute Dissolution
5. Haruspex
6. Vanquish In Vengeance
7. Profound Loathing
8. The Hellions Genesis
9. From Hollow Sands

EXCLUSIVE TRACK FOR DECIBEL MAGAZINE
An exclusive track for Decibel Magazine's Flexi Disc series will be available only to subscribers [www.DecibelMagazine.com]

For their contribution to Decibel, INCANTATION founder John McEntee dug into his vault and pulled up the tune "Degeneration," off the self-titled 1989 demo from his pre-INCAN tech-thrash band, REVENANT. INCANTATION gave the song a proper reworking and the deathed-up, newly-recorded version of the song will appear inside the December 2012 issue of Decibel.

Cover art looks very dark. I am stoked to hear this.

EDIT: Woops, sorry for the huge image.

I think that the new Incantation album after six years deserves a huge image. Very stoked! I love that it looks like an actual painting, rather than being one of the hackneyed modern 2-hour photoshop jobs.

I was literally just listening to "Diabolical Conquest" when I saw the news. I'm expecting nothing more than good ol' fashioned Incantation excellence.

Album art looks awesome and I'm suddenly very excited for this album after giving Primordial Domination a spin for the first time tonight. Don't know why I've put off later Incantation as much as I have, this shit rules.

Liking that cover art, nice to see them shifting out of that orangey red hue that's only like half of their albums.

Sweet news on the Revenant cover by the way, it's a great song by a great band, and I'd love to hear Incantation's take on it. Here's the original, listen to it, very underrated stuff (currently no reviews on M-A, though I'm working on one):

I've been considering buying this album, too. It's so expensive, though.

I'm hoping that over time they get enough exposure among the current crowd lusting for old school material that the album gets a good reissue, as long as they don't remaster it, butcher the artwork or release it on vinyl only...

Dave from Xtreem was supposed to reissue it but it feel through. When I asked him about it he told me that NB was demanding way too much money for the reissue rights. Sucks balls but I don't think it will be reissued any time soon.

Same could be said for the entire early nineties' NB and RR catalogues.

It was only going for $35-50 about a year ago, pretty much doubled in price in the last six months for sme reason.

Not to worry. I may still buy it at some stage if it's still available.

I'm still excited for Vanish in Vengeance. I've got Primordial Domination going in my car and it's awesome. I expect this one to be of similar quality!

Keep trying, man. Maybe there's something wrong on their end making that happen. It's a good album.

the first thing i thought of when i read the name of the new album was that bit in the movie spawn when the violator 'introduces' himself.

lets hope they do some more sweet touring and maybe even come down under again.

Samples sound great, love the dissonance. I'm one of those that only listens to the two first Incantation albums, any of their newer stuff that sounds kinda like the samples?

Yes, Decimate Christendom and Primordial Domination are in the same style as the samples of the new album.

That song seemed pretty mediocre for their standards. Its not bad by any means, but it doesn't hold a candle to Diabolical Conquest (my favorite Incantation album). I'd rather listen to newer death/doom bands like Ignivimous and Sonne Adam than that song, though.
