Between the Buried and Me - Alaska

Boy do I love this fucking album or what. Second only to Colors in their discography, it's the transition between the techy metalcore on their first 2 albums and the masterful progginess of the future albums.

That really is a fantastic album. Selkies gets me every time.

Metallica - Wherever I May Roam

Listening to the radio at work. Apparently they have a "Metallica in the Morning" segment. Cool song, I've always thought it was the standout track on TBA.

Musta Surma - Usvan Lapset

This is off rhe '97 demo, which according to a review is vastly superior to following Musta Surma material. I don't know if it's that much better, but this is very good still. Reminds me of Vitsaus, especially the drumming.

Avichi - Sermon on the Mount

Like Milton put to music. What an incredible song. The Devil's Fractal is an absolute masterwork of an album.

It's probably his idea of metal. That Black Sabbath and Trouble stuff doesn't have enough gangsta giving the finger.

Dragging Entrails - Misogynistic Clitoral Flaying

Sounds a lot like Kraanium, and since the guitarist from Kraanium plays in this band, it makes sense. The riffs sound straight off of Post Coital Fixation. Filthy, sick slam grooves. (hat tip to morguelord for turning me on to this)

Von - Jesus Stain

The, well, the single riff this song is made of is not nearly as terrible as I expected. Early Von is somewhat interesting because of the influence it had on better musicians. This however is mostly a waste of time. Maybe if their songs were 20 seconds long it could work...

dark millennium: ashore celestial burden

old school death metal with some nice doomy parts, and the vocalist reminds me of the guy from early asphyx.

One of my favorite doom death metal albums of all time. Totally bizarre atmosphere, always keeps me coming back for more.

Enslaved - Death in the Eyes of Dawn

I dig the almost psychedelic feel their music has on some of the more recent albums.

Make sure you spell the song's name correctly when you get around to that. ;)

Shadow Gallery - Christmas Day

I like these guys, but...it seems like their albums have moments where the band is like, "Oh shit! We're supposed to be a metal band! Quick, throw in a solo here!"
