Hey guys!
So I have been really digging Indian music recently and I was wondering if any of you can recommend me any band that uses sitar and tabla heavily.

I would really appreciate any kind of recommendation.
Thanks!

You're tempting me to upload my shittily recorded doom metal track with synthesized sitar... I also have one with a synthesized tamboura, which is another instrument common to Indian music.

The Argentinian doom metal band Luz de Invierno synthesized both on their song Serpents of the Moon from their 2002 demo.

As far as REAL instruments on a REAL album, the stoner/doom band Om uses a tamboura on about half of this song from their album God is Good. It makes another appearance on this song also from God is Good. That last song has no metal elements though.

EDIT: I just realized I left out the name of Luz de Invierno, lol

From what I remember, these guys only use a sitar on this track.

Bong uses sitar (and shahi baaja) extensively. The album Mana-Yood-Sushai is a good starting point.

You might be interested in Rudra. They describe their sub-genre as "Vedic Metal." Mostly this means Sanskrit Vedic lyrics combined with Western black metal instrumentation. They also have an acoustic mode using traditional instruments. On the album I have ("Brahmavidya: Transcendental I") the "traditional" mode is used mostly for interludes and for one entire song. The black metal and acoustic modes are only occasionally mixed (at least on this album). E.g., one song features a percussion solo on the tabla, while another has a black metal drum solo accompanied by what sounds like a tanpura.
