Powerwolf - Sanctified with Dynamite

I'm really cruisin' down the list now. As for this tune, it's about as fun as anything can be.

Elderoth - Stars Within Shadows, courtesy of YouTube

I'm not digging these vocals at all. He sounds like a neanderthal trying to imitate the vocalist from Black Majesty.

Prodigy - No Faith for the Liar

Now this is much better. I've never heard these guys before now, and I can tell already that was a mistake.

Prodigy - Prisoner (Of Your Own Soul)

This vocalist sounds like 80s Geoff Tate and Marco Hietala had a love child. It's rather surreal.

Queensryche - Take Hold of the Flame

This song's kinda overrated. Sure, it's fun and well-written, but the song of the album's gotta be "No Sanctuary" for me.

Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime

Last.fm has it marked as just "Operation." Now I must hear a song about the game Operation.

Queensryche - Waiting for 22/My Empty Room

These tracks plus "Eyes of a Stranger" are probably the greatest shining moment of the album. And considering some of the classic songs earlier on, that's saying something.

Lich King - Born of the Bomb

For all of the shit these guys have had thrown their way from this forum and other circles as well, that hasn't detracted them in the slightest from making huge steps in every department with each subsequent album. While their first two leave a lot to be desired and could hardly be considered anything more than glorified demos (the band itself hardly acknowledges them outside of playing select songs live,) World Gone Dead was an unexpected but welcomed example of what these guys can do when focused and Born of the Bomb is a fulfillment on that promise. Make no mistake, their comedic lyrics are still in place on a number of songs and the Exodus and Vio-lence worship is still the driving force of the writing, but the riffs are stronger, the production is slicker, and the performances are tighter. These are the songs Lich King should have been making from the start and they're aware of that. Significant bandmember changes obviously have factored into their progression but their collective middle fingers to both serious-minded listeners and the "Thrash is back!" retro-heads are still raised. This is hardly a modern classic as there's really nothing new here in the grand sense, but this is some inspired stuff that may get some of their naysayers to take notice. It sure worked on me.

Nice. :)

Anomalous - Ohmnivalent

Even when I don't come to this often, I still realise how great this is. Technical death metal with great mixes of brutality and melody. I don't even care that the drums were played on an electric kit - it all sounds great and it is still worthy of best of 2011 for me. So much going on but you can still catch a rhythm to it.

The singing of the birds in the yard.

Most relaxing ambient ever...

Crap the record must be over.

Dream Theater - Bridges In The Sky

This took its sweet time to grow on me but now that it has, I love every bit!

That lyric; seeing through darkness with borrowed eyes rules!

Even I need something different than blasphemy, perversion, necropedophile and stuff. I also happen to like prog rock, ol' ska and reggae.

I'm actually listening a only-chilean metal radio, you can check it out here: http://www.codigometal.net/

From what I've seen, some of the best bands are missing and some terrible ones exist, but there are some good bands being played there as well.

np: Cerberus - Redemption of Demigod
