Indeed. Pick her up anyway. If she doesn't like it, drop her on her head.

While ripping my Dark Funeral cds, the opening cut off Diabolis Interium, "The Arrival Of Satan's Empire" was put in my library as "The Arrival Of Stan's Empire".

Stan knows his shit.

I remember ripping Origin's "Algorithm" and it came up as "Al-Gore-ithm".

That reminds me of how windows media player insists that Sentenced's song Guilt and Regret is really Guild and Regret. But it was slightly funnier having another Sentenced song Crumbling Down labeled as Grumbling Down.

Here's a little funfact I learned: Only one word in a reCAPTCHA is used for authentication, the other one, which consists of undistorted print letters, is a word Google scanned and their computers can't identify, so you are supposed to do it for them. You can basically write whatever you want there and sabotage Google's little project of scanning the world's printed words if you are into that sort of stuff. Apologies if this is old news. I just find the idea of scans full of unexpected swearwords kind of tempting.

The missus flew out for her placement today, and after going through the metal detectors/security shit I was pulled aside and told I couldn't enter the boarding area until I put my bullet casing in the car, which is on my key ring. It's a 75mm shell casing with the tip and all, but it's... well a shell, nothing more. This is an illegal item to have on your person, even for interstate travel. I had no idea...

The beast that lurks in my genes
Is controlling my will
In endless search of the ultimate carnal thrill

The above is the first stanza from Wuthering Heights' "Demon Desire", with the rest below in spoiler tags for brevity:

Spoiler: show
Like a knight without an armour
I ride out to face the twobacked beast
Naked in the face of horror
A jester at this undercover feast

Desire fills my heart with guilt and pain
As my burning blood from my mind is drained

Demon desire; you lead. I drag behind
Demon desire; leave my fragile mind
How can I be at peace
When my blood is on fire
Don't want to be your slave
Demon desire

I can never fight my nature
I am he – the pleasant primitive
Or so the queens of lust they see me
But myself is all I have to give

Desire fills my heart with guilt and pain
As my burning blood from my mind is drained

Demon desire; you lead. I drag behind
Demon desire; leave my fragile mind
How can I be at peace
When my blood is on fire
Don't want to be your slave
Demon desire

Curse this world
That gives urges but no breeding grounds
How shall I see the sun
Behind desire's brooding clouds
I cannot fight my nature
The pleasant primitive
O, let me live...

All my years and all my gold
It takes to ease the demon
All my years and all my gold
To keep the beast at bay

Could I only put away my bow
When no prey in sight
But now I'll leave my mind behind
For another hungry quest into the night

Demon desire; you lead. I drag behind
Demon desire; leave my fragile mind
How can I be at peace
When my blood is on fire
Don't want to be your slave
Demon desire

The beast that lurks in my jeans
Is controlling my will
In endless search of the ultimate carnal thrill

Practically the same thing, yet incredibly different meaning at the same time.

Thank you, thank you, I'll take my leave now...

I just woke up from the most entertaining dream that I've had in a long time :-P

I dreamt that for some odd reason, I entered into a university program (psychology, which I hold no interest in in real life) that was only taught at the old elementary school I went to as a kid. And in going there, myself and all of the other people in the program could still enter the school's clubs and sports teams. The rest of the dream is a bit of a haze now, but I do remember forming a soccer team with the other psychology students and dominating the city's school league!

Edit: And on another note, I've been listening to the new Enslaved album. The first track was a bit boring, but it gets a hell of a lot better after that!

I had the wildest dream last night too....maybe it was the cheap malt liquor. But, it involved Method Man and Redman (who were my friends in real life), tanks stationed outside of my apartment complex (where Obama lived) and a girl who wanted to go out dancing and then have sex in my bathtub, who looked like an amalgamation of two previous girlfriends but sounded like my sister (woof...analyze that one). But we never actually had sex, because by the time we got back and in the tub, she revealed that she was the reincarnation of the Egyptian gods Thoth and Amunet and that our sexual activities would really just be spiritual time travelling and that I was needed throughout the spiritual realms.

It lasted all night too, never once woke up.

Dude, Freud would love to have a word with you.....

But yeah Frog, that's a seriously weird dream. Speaking of which, wasn't there already a thread for those? Or was it just a dream? :-D

To be honest I'm not impressed by tattoos with that much detail in them.

I wanna get a half sleeve with the text "Fuck Art" stretching around my arm.

:metal: Tiamat is awesome. I've been rocking Wildhoney all week and it's turning my view on music right on its ass. Sounds like a metal Pink Floyd. Totally stellar stuff.

The only band I've heard that sounds remotely close to them is Crippled Black Phoenix. You don't know how many people tell me Opeth sounds like Pink Floyd :nono:

I haven't had a strange dream lately, but a workmate mentioned one. He's pretty successful with ladies, in a very carnal sense, and he had had a dream about us sitting in a meeting. The client had been a beautiful young woman, and he said that instead of him, I had left the meeting room with the chick with the obvious intent of having sex in the next room.

The catch? He specifically said it was a nightmare...

I bought this album a few years ago expecting to be mesmerized by it, but I was a little let down. Is this an album that just escapes some people? Any advice for a good way to approach this album differently, without having to use drugs?

Try rainy days. Bonus points if you're down. More points if you're daydreaming.

First time I listened to it (or rather tried to) I had just gone on a binge of extreme metal... so when it started to play I quickly became disappointed with it. I played it again after a few months (some time around autumn/winter) and I realized that it's the greatest atmospheric (rock? metal? I don't give a fuck) album ever made.

That sounds like a very strange Canadian mating ritual. But we shall not judge. Since there still are Canadians, it must work. Occasionally.

It probably escapes some people; it's an incredibly unique and perplexing album. I find it more to be a "mood" album, meaning it listens well in certain situations. Give it a spin every once and awhile.

Metal is a lot like porn. Most people start out with the easily digestible, high production value mainstream stuff, then after like 5 years all you want is lo-fi amateur material made in a foreigner's basement.

Yay I quit my horrendous job! I also got a record... Player/converter? I got it from the mile long yardsale, witch for the most part sucked, everything was water damaged and retail priced.

$15? Where the fuck do you live. That's worth a dollar, tops. Even without the water damage.

Take George Carlin's advice on how to get out of jury duty:

When the judge asks you why you think you'd make a good juror, tell him you'd be great because you can spot guilty people *be sure to snap your fingers or gesture while clicking your tongue* just like that!
