I was listening to Burzum's Hlidskjalf last night, for the first time in a long time, and got inspired to make a simple, nice melody. I made this track, and I like the composition, but I notice that the second part of the passage is louder than the first. My buddy that heard it said he actually likes that, but I'm not so sure. I've tweaked the track a bunch since last night, played with recording it playing the second bit more quietly, and also tried using compression and limiting, but it doesn't have the same vibe. Just wanted to hear you guys' thoughts on whether the constant shift in volume is distracting or not. Any other opinions of course are welcome! Thanks.

I think mixing down that high end ring that starts showing up with the harmony would help it. Kind of short given its simplicity so maybe longer phrasing would be more interesting, but I didn't find the volume distracting and it was a nice melody.

I like it, could see this riff being played in a psyche-folk style with a phaser and fuzz pedal accompanied by a slow drum head
