Give me a good reason why Demon Hunter is blacklisted. They are definitely Metal and less "-core" than a lot of the bands that are actually on the site. What is the logic behind putting/allowing bands in?

It stands for them as well. I don't know what do you mean by "good reasons", do we need to write 10 000 words essay to justify the rejection of a band? Feel free to post links of their "metal" songs, but don't get hopeful.

Here's a few samples:

Despite the usual atrocious gay howler monkey vocals, this might qualify (although not entirely convinced). Do they have an entire physical release that sounds like that?

And these are just singles for the most part, I assume they'd need more than just singles to qualify as an entire physical release though huh?

Yes, of course. One full physical release of entirely metallic material. A couple singles alone, even physical ones, aren't going to be enough to redeem the band.

Ok, dude. I'm very aware of the situation with your band being ambient and whatnot. I'm gonna be honest with you. The first thing I did was taking a look at the link you provided. To my surprise, there is *actually* a picture of a tape, but it is an obvious forgery. Only someone who has never seen a tape in person would actually believe it. And believe me, many of us mods still own tapes, and know how are they supposed to look. I'm not gonna bother listening to the samples until you bring a nice, solid-as-concrete piece of evidence. Then, and only then, I'm gonna check the samples to see IF this time your band is metal, as opposed to ambient.

I mean, I don't know about anyone else Tony, but if you took the time to actually write out an essay on why Demon Hunter is more core than metal, I'd set some time aside and read it...

Well you're going to have to provide us with proof as to why the blacklisting as wrong... The entry says it's mainly ambient, have you released anything physical and decidedly more metal since the blacklisting? If not, your chances of this being overturned are very, very slim.

"depressive rock experimental post black metal black metal drone drone ambient drone metal dronegaze expressionist post-punk post-rock shoegaze" - their bandcamp

There's some metal influences, but it's predominantly drone/ambient.

Don't bother. This guy's been trying to get his band approved many times. It's hilariously obvious ambient, not even a trace of anything remotely (black) metal.

Hi everyone.
My submission for the death metal band "Abscess", from Gbely (Slovakia) has been rejected, with the following motivation: "Can't find a single bit of info that says this was actually a tape, or any sort of info on the band online...".

The proof of the existence of the two demos released by them can be found here: http://demonahravkyslovenskehopodzemia. ... 2959679371
That's a blog dedicated to the ripping and uploading of old demos/tapes of the early slovakian death metal scene - mostly 1990s/2000s demos -, and that's where both the demos were posted.

Thanks in advance for the reply.

Yeah, that isn't going to stand as "evidence", I'm afraid. There's no guarantee that absolutely everything posted on that blog is from a legit source. Maybe you could contact the uploader and ask him to provide photographs of the tape, to prove that it was circulated physically.

Because as it is now, I see no other sign of that band's existence aside from what's on that blog.

The band 'Swedish Death Index' was rejected because it was considered "drone/noise with no hints of metal". I'm confused by this, as in my mind it bears many common attributes with a similar Melbourne-based group that is in the archive: Whitehorse (specifically, the low-tuned drone over slow drums and squally electronics, more so present on their first couple of recordings than later). It's metalness, I agree, would be harder to justify if it weren't for the presense of drums, as the sound is quite thick, and presently the band has no vocals.

For posterity's sake, in case other moderator's wish to look into this as well, here's the link to the first recording, images of the physical release, and an image from the first performance:

The song I heard was definitely not metal and I'm pretty sure all the other mods are gonna say the same thing. It was quite cool though.

Another blacklisted band I'd like to give a shot at submitting, Unlucky Morpheus are one of those touhou bands that were blacklisted, however being a doujin band rather than a straight up cover band they actually do have original material as of the past couple full length albums they've released. The link provided is a sampling of their latest album which is 100% original work, released last month.

Damn, these Japanese bands are annoying! This seems like a proper power metal band though, we'll look into it.

Oh, I see...
I think the Metal Archives should be change.
There are countries (for example Hungary) where very hard to release an album phisically because of the awful financial situation. And in this country there are lots of band which make quality music for free. There is no other chance...
Sorry for my bad English, but I have no money for language school... :-S

Yeah, erh, look... sorry for your loss, but rules are rules. We're not going to make an exception for the physical release rule just because a few broke artists can't afford to run off a physical pressing, even if it's just 50 burned CDrs and home-dubbed tapes.

This site only exists to document permanent, lasting, physical releases of metal bands. A collection of mp3s isn't a lasting physical release...

Ok! I thought that the physical release = pressed CD's (it is very expensive). If the burned (home made) CD is ok, I apologize.
So If I make 50 copy, and 50 laser printed booklets for my last two albums, it will be enough?

I have some weird problems, and i'm not sure what the problem is, so i'm just asking.

Why can't i find Avenged Sevenfold, Marilyn Manson or Uneven Structure for example? Those are metal, but they have been black listed, even though these artists are CLEARLY in the metal genre.

Also, why does Slipknot appear as a totally diffierent band? Why does the real band not show up?

I would add them myself, if it wheren't for that they are blacklisted. What does that mean? I'm new to this site, so i'm rather confused.

These bands, based on our guidelines, are not metal and that's the reason why they are blacklisted and you're obviously not the first one trying to add them. So, accept the decision or you know, contest it, but yeah, don't.

This Slipknot is also "real", for your information.

NONE of those bands are metal. Ax7 is metalcore (which is an abbreviation of "metallic hardcore"... note the "hardcore" part). Marilyn Manson is shock rock at best and industrial rock at worst, and not even remotely metal.

elsteven0 wrote:

Because the Slipknot you're clearly thinking of is a completely different band, and not a metal one.

Hi guys, i don't want to bore no one, some weeks ago i asked three times about a blacklisted band called MoRioR and no one ansewered, at the third time a moderator ansewered telling me that i'll have notice in the next days, a week is passed and nothing... i also see aswers about Slipknot and avenged sevenfold, banned bands from the opening of the site... also you answered to everyone... i'm the only one who posted questions without an answer.. please listen to this two short songs, and tell me if this band is ok... this demo is rare and the genre is different, i'm sure they were blacklisted for the recent material, tey're songs from the first CD are ok for sure. My post is in the page 154.

I think just because the band is not metal in the least bit shouldn't make the band not approved as a metal band.

2 songs, less than 10 minutes = 2 weeks for listen.
I swear this was my last post.

I want to inquire into why Burning Bethlehem (USA) was blacklisted? If it is because of no physical release, their latest album is a physical Release, they posted picture of the CD and Disc on their Facebook a while ago:
