Slavia - The Blasphemous Art

Fucking hell this is some great Norwegian black metal. Full-on, heavy, blistering sound and corrosive as acid delivery. Good, good stuff indeed.

Beyond Terror Beyond Grace - Nadir

Excellent atmospheric death metal. I'm very happy with this band's stylistic shift, and I hope they continue to pump out great albums like this one.

Christicide - Christicide

Excellent, atmospheric, real black metal from France. Hypnotising, repetitive blackness which is richly melodic, and expertly woven. Stunning.

Might check them out; Finding bands is all my hungover self is good for today.

Celtic Frost - Mexican Radio. Oh, so very very catchy.

Joan Baez - Diamonds And Rust

I feel stupid for years of thinking this was written by Judas Priest...

I'm gonna have to dig mine out again. They caught me off guard with this album, a very good change in direction.

N.P: Imperium Dekadenz - Dammerung Der Szenarien. Cold mid paced black metal with some lovely melodies.

Early Graves - Rot. Kinda like a mix of stoner sludge and grindcore, not a big fan of the latter or former, but I'm really digging this combination of styles... I guess you could say I'm "digging" early graves.

Through Gleams Of Death from (1996) Limbonic Art - Moon In The Scorpio.
I should check out more albums cause, lately, I find this less catchy than I remember.

Candlemass - Lucifer Rising EP.

Perhaps a bit redundant release, but I like the fit between the music and Lowe's voice. What a pity he never learned the lyrics for live performances...

Dream Theater - A Change of Seasons

Heh, Dream Theater are the band with 666 versions of basically every song they've once written. Anyway, this demo version while a bit shorter than the original (just clocking at 16 mins or so) sounds solid and a bit more straightforward, too. LaBrie's vocals seem to be really high here so I assume this is quite an early work of the band. Not bad at all.

Down - Open Coffins

Sure as shit, this is good. I'm sold on most anything Anselmo/Keenan already, but this is definitely worthy material.

Motorhead - Rock n' Roll

I think a Motorhead kick is imminent - The music gives me such a feeling of get-up-and-go, as it were.

Black Flag - My War

Love this album, love Rollins, but Morris era Flag is definitely my favorite. Listening to the Nervous Breakdown EP after this.

I don't know why I used to not care for these guys. Songs like this are right up my alley.

More excellent French black metal. Pounding and cruelly melodic.

Easy. Flo is a self-righteous cunt. I do like that album, though.

Luciferion - Demonication (The Manifest)

This is a great old-school death metal album with some vicious riffs and pounding drumming. The one thing that brings it down? Those awful solos. Could they get someone other than E.T. to construct them? However, despite that, this is well worth listening to, and the music itself is good enough to ignore the soloing.

The solos? damn, Wojtek it's incredible in that department IMO! I think that sometimes the solos are too high on the mix, but I think they are well crafted. The album is a brutal assault combining Morbid Angel, early Deicide and some Nocturnus.

Did you hear the second album The Apostate?

np: Sirius - Into Forbidden Dimensions. If you're a fan of Emperor, check this out!
