THIRD TIME I ASK, ANSWER PLEASE!!!
Hi! i'm asking about a blacklisted band called MoRioR from Italy, i can prove with consistent proves that they were metal.
I'm sure that they were blacklisted for their latest material that sounds really -core/not metal for Metal Archives, but and i'm sure that they will be accepted for their old songs present in their demo CD.
At the beginning they were metal, they released a 2 track demo CD in 2009 and i've got it because they are friends of mine, later they changed style and leave the old songs.
I'm a friend of them, some members of this band played in mine and you can ask everything to them on facebook with a message.
Here i put a photo of the CD that i have at home:
Here the 2 songs from the demo

Christ on a stick, will you please stop posting? We're aware of your question, the fact that it hasn't been answered instantly doesn't mean we've forgotten about it. Re-posting the same thing twice in half a week won't get it answered any faster. Be patient.

Wow, the last two pages of this thread are ridiculous.

A general warning for all; if we see reposts like the ones on the proceeding last two pages, or bitching and whining demanding that we review a band immediately, not only will we be reluctant to do a review of a band in the manner that you ask, but we may be inclined to ban you. You push our buttons by being incessant, immature, impatient turds and we have zero toleration for that.

Ah thank you! I wasn't going to say anything about it, but holy crap it's annoying, I as well as several others asked questions up to 4 pages back which seemed to be hidden away by all the repeated questions, it's annoying as most of us plain old users ask a question and wait patiently for an answer while lately there's dozens of repeats.

OK, just for the record, I am posting this here, although an e-mail told me to post is elsewhere:

This is an appeal to the rejection of including Progressive Metal band OmnisighT into the Encyclopedia Metallum.

Reason was "Rock, not metal", and it is easy to be mislead by a band with clean vocals and melodies but if you can include a band like Dream Theater here, then you can include OmnisighT, who is even more METAL (shred guitar, double kicks, heavy riffs, etc) and has NO keyboards so soften up their sound. Here is my valid argument:

1) Did you read all the Site Rules? YES
2) Does your submitted band have a physical album out? (e.g. CD, LP or cassette) YES
3) Is your submitted band's CD/LP/tape released already as of the date of your posting? YES
4) Did you provide evidence of the above under the "submission rules" field of the band form? YES (pretty sure, see link below)

5) Is your band a non-metal side-project? NO

It is the main band of former SOULSCAR (can be found on the encyclopedia) drummer Chris Warunki on his independent label Warunki Media.
Here is what famous metal site BLABBERMOUTH has to say about it:

http://www.blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?m ... mID=178971

Also here is a published review of their album "Path", note: with the headline "OmnisighT specializes in progressive metal":

http://www.straight.com/node/766171

I know you run a tight ship here, which is good, but I hope you take all of the above into consideration since I'm providing a valid case.
Thanks... DEK

PS... even if it were more "Progressive Rock" and not "Progressive Metal", then why do you include Fates Warning, Queensryche and Dream Theater in the Encyclopedia here and not OmnisighT?? How are those bands any more "Metal" than they?

1) I know it's your band, so you can stop using "they" and "it"
2) These bands are progressive metal and we judge bands individually and the fact that you consider Awaken the Guardian, Operation Mindcrime or Train of Thought "rock" is baffling.

Metantoine, thanks for not locking the thread so we can actually communicate here.

1) I never said it was not but I am speaking about an entity other than myself.
2) OmnisighT is progressive metal too... it's well documented, go listen to more than just ONE song.

Tell me this is not METAL: http://omnisight.bandcamp.com/track/no-atrophy-feat-blake-rurik

Just because it grooves, has clean vocals and melody doesn't mean it's not metal ;)

...and just to add another point to my argument here, since we are splitting hairs on what is and isn't metal; was the last Opeth album "Heritage" metal? Did it even have the slightest trace of metal in it? The answer is clearly NO. Then why is it listed here on Encyclopedia Metallum?

Because they have other, metal material. Duh.

Now please accept our decision. As Metantoine said, three moderators (me included) agreed that the band was more rock than metal after listening to the album.

Well, I must say thanks (sincerely) for taking 80 minutes of your day to listen to the entire album. In your humble opinion was it "less metal" than say... Train of Thought by Dream Theater?

*Heritage and Opeth has metal albums, consider this conversation over since your arguments are quite pitiful and ridiculous.

And yes, ToT is definitely metal, no questions there, your band is not.

No need to condescend. I'm not trying to be argumentative, I'm just trying to understand why Dream Theater or any of the other prog bands I mentioned are more metal than OmnisighT. What makes "Train of Thought" more metal than "Path"? If anything, most people would say "Path" is more metal due to lack of keyboards. Just trying to understand your point of view before I accept rejection. Thanks.

We are not arguing about Dream Theater here. The issue is with your band and we won't address the "why was band X rejected, even though you have band Y listed?" kind of arguments. Each band is judged for itself. Keyboards or lack thereof don't mean a thing. We are primarily looking for metal riffing/structuring, of which Omnisight was found lacking. And that's it, case closed.

It's also baffling that you and your people at EM think that heavy riffs tuned down to C#, Malmsteen inspired guitar solos, odd-time signature double kick drumming is NOT metal enough for the encyclopedia. Truly!

I'm going to search "King's X" and if that comes up then you've got some SERIOUS back peddling to do here.

"OmnisighT is Vancouver's premier progressive hard rock band"

Man, you even describe it as that above... But anyway, sorry, but even Tool is heavier than your band and they're not even listed here.

That should actually read: "OmnisighT is Vancouver's premier progressive hard rock/metal band" as it does on most of the other bio's. We have elements of both, like Fates Warning does, like Queensryche does, like Dream Theater does.

I just find it hilariously contradictory that OmnnisighT gets rejected for not being metal enough yet Soul/Blues/Gospel inspired ROCK bands like King's X are up here. Perhaps this is an indication that this site is controlled by major labels? Now when someone with his own legit band and independent record label tries to join the fold and meets ALL criteria he/they are rejected. Food for thought. Eat up.

Indeed, very silly.

I'll be back later, I need to call Brian Slagel, he left me a message.

Congrats to Azmodes for his first ban!

Also, a HUGE warning to everyone, if you want to play like this dude, you'll get banned. Thanks.

Hello,

my submission for the band "PORTA NIGRA" was rejected. It is true, the release date for the EP is September, 21th. But "Megalomaniac" already exists. If you wish I can send pictures showing the vinyl.

Label is French Debemur Morti Productions, see announcement here: http://www.debemur-morti.com/default.php

See this video for proof that it is metal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oo-5zzim ... r_embedded

If you wish to wait for the 21th that is ok for me. Beside that there is no reason to reject the band in my opinion.

thank you

metal-archives is a great site, I really appreciate your work here.

Yes, wait for the release date. That is when we consider an album released and thus a publicly available physical release to exist. Strange, I know. :P The rules are also very clear about this. I understand that it may look pedantic on an individual level, but if we want to have a set of rules to govern acceptable bands, sticking with the release date is the best way to go about it when it comes to albums.

Last Question:

Do I re-submit it then or I come back to this forum? How will it work?

thanks!

I don't know how big their discography or the number of unacceptable material is, but a 2-track demo doesn't quite cut it, I'm afraid.

Hello,
I tried to submit Russian band called Tarantul (or Тарантул), but it was rejected because "CD-R with hand writng on it without any cover doesn't count as a proper release". I'd like to object to this decision for two reasons:

1. I probably mentioned that about 50 copies of the band's Demo 2004 (which remains their only physical release to date) were made. The thing is... 30 to 35 of them actually had a cover, and the rest didn't. I was "lucky" enough to get a no-cover version. All CD-Rs with covers were sent to various zines for reviewing, all the other were given to friends, fellow musicians etc. So this release had a cover, but unfortunately I can't prove it:-(

2. I've done a kind of quick "research" and found (for example) these three bands:
http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Death_Force/87680
http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Broadax/3540300743
http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Car ... est/113856
I'm pretty sure there's a bunch of similar band pages here. So... All the three above-mentioned bands have only one demo each, but there're no pictures, no covers, no additional info, no nothing. Still all these bands were accepted. I'm confused...

Please note that I mean no offense, I'm just trying to understand the moderation policy. At the moment it seems a bit odd to me, I'd appreciate some clarification...

Hm, if the ones with a cover were only sent to 'zines and the non-promotional cover-less rest given to friends and acquaintances and such, it doesn't sound like much of a public release. I can see that it might still qualify in some sense, but it would be best to wait until they release something more serious. That is, if they're still active. If not, sorry.

Hello again, I've got another question about a band who were previously rejected. NoGoD from Japan fits somewhere under the gothic / power metal section to me, one of you mods mind checking this for me? :3

Here's a few samples:

Despite the usual atrocious gay howler monkey vocals, this might qualify (although not entirely convinced). Do they have an entire physical release that sounds like that?

They're not, they sound like Protest the Hero. Accept the decision, feel free to bring up their new album when it will be released.
