There are a LOT of bands/artists on MA that have incorrect link names (eg. Xband@Myspace), possibly more do than don't, and few users who change them to just "Myspace" (which looks MUCH cleaner). I discussed this a bit with another mod (who also changes lots of link names) and he rather liked the idea of this thread. Hopefully we can get some help from other users with 1000< points, cause I'm also getting a little tired of all these incorrect link names.

Also, this isn't a problem that low ranked users could report because of how many reports we'd get! Anyone wanna try and help us here?

Yes, I'll fix all links. That's my task. Don't worry. You're right, many of 'em looks awful and tons of 'em are broken. I've already do it for the countries with less than 200 bands, but second checking 'em now.

Kinda late, but for future reference:

If the band's official website is broken, plug it into http://archive.org/web/web.php. I have found many old websites this way, and might still contain information for old bands (ie, verification that the band did exist.)

I've been fixing these as I run across them. I might make a more concerted effort soon.

So I've been cleaning a lot of these up lately - if the link is broken and I plug it into archives.org and nothing comes up - is that a fair point to simply delete the link? Is there another similar site I should try before deleting it? Or should I leave it alone? (I know that might sound stupid if it's broken, but for example, if the only link present is broken and there's no archive, it at least serves the purpose to show that at one time there was some proof of the band).
