I don't recall seeing them mentioned in this thread, but thought this would be a good place to recommend Belong's Common Era. Here's the opening track.

You might like Cult of Luna, they rarely go very fast, but they are heavy as fuck.

Can anyone recommend me some bands that play music like this ISIS song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgjH7-e6HM0

With the atmospheric stuff at the end especially, and the riffing at the beginning.

Alaskan might be what you are looking for http://alaskan.bandcamp.com/album/adversity-woe
Some big sludgy riffing while leaving a lot of room for the expansive post-rock atmosphere.

You may enjoy one of the bands I sing in, Súl ad Astral. "Amaurosis" and "In Solitude" will likely be the closest things on the album to satisfying your Dopamine craving. Also, Melting is an incredible song; one of my favorites in this style!

Deng has said that Dopamine also plans on doing a "real" recording of their full album, rather than just ending on the pre-production demos that exist, so that might be of interest to you when it comes out.

Hi, It's me again.

I want a uplifing, crescendo post rock with spoken word, especially if with effects of radio recording. Something similar to GY!BE's Static: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... hH0#t=270s

I only have the "Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven" album, if this band uses spoken words in other albums as well, please let me know.

Thanks and thanks. I'm really digging both, although the production on the Fell Voices is a bit raw for my taste.

"Amaurosis" was pretty spot on with what I was looking for. Actually from a quick listen the whole album is exception, good stuff, I'm impressed. And I'm happy to hear that news about Dopamine, it's a damn shame that their material never got the proper release it deserves.

Dead Flag Blues from F# A# also features spoken word. I want to say there is at least one more example of this by GY!BE (other than Sleep from Lift Your Skinny Fists). If I remember, I'll definitely let you know.
Other than that, Farewell Poetry uses spoken word with a hushed, female voice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qSs4IV7mQQ It's a bit more rhythmic than the stuff from Godspeed. There's also a little noise in the background that sounds like the clicking and popping of a dirty record, but I'm not sure if that's just the youtube rip or if it's actually mixed into the original song since I don't have the album myself. I recommend them if you are a fan of GY!BE for the instruments alone.

There is also this song by We Made God. Not exactly the radio lofi sound, but the production is a little noisy. The speech is from a great scene in the movie Network. And if you decide that you really love that speech, here's Mouth of the Architect using it too. Both of these are more post-metal so you might not get that uplifting feel you are looking for.

''The car's on fire
and there's no driver at the wheel.''

That spoken word always gives me shivers. Best one I know.

You're probably thinking of the other track of Slow Riot For New Zero Canada. Blaze Bailey Finnegan III or something.

Can you guys recommend me some stuff like Amesoeurs, Alcest, etc?
I'm new to blackgaze, shoegaze, post-rock etc.

Female vocals are a plus, and Joy Division influence/similarities are a plus.

I'd rather just listen to Slowdive, Mogwai, or Joy Division but that's an argument for another thread.

Coldworld's "Melancholie" often get's thrown into that whole 'Blackgaze' mix.

never heard of Slowdive and Mogwa. I'll look em up later.
I think Coldworld is leaning more towards DSBM/Atmospheric Black Metal. Idk, I just don't consider it blackgaze.

Check out Enablers. They don't really use samples but they have a vocalist who does spoken vocals in all of their songs.

Also check out Be Safe by The Cribs. Not post-rock but amazing spoken vocals http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwZ4TTSKZWY

Can anyone recommend some good post metal? Along the lines of ISIS, The Ocean, Pelican, Cult of Luna, etc.

I would really appreciate it. :)

Try Callisto for something similar to COL, and Neurosis if you've been under a rock for the past 20 years. :p

Check out Bossk, if you haven't already. Epic instrumental post-metal, they've just reformed after a few years break.

You can also check out a band I'm in, Marble Halls: http://marblehalls.bandcamp.com/
It's sort of a sludge-post-rock-metal thing. We've just released our first demo, so hope you enjoy!

All the bands above are good, some not mentioned -

Try Cosmonauts Day, Light Bearer, Ides of Gemini, Syqem, Tides from Nebula, Burst, and maybe Baroness(Red & Blue, and 1 & 2)

A few are not fully metal but close enough.

I'm looking for those obscure oddities in your collections; those unclassifiable demo tapes or CDrs in hand-made packaging put out by reclusive one-man projects, or duos, or collectives; that weird side-project of that guy in that band you saw in that club; those bizarre recordings that don't quite fall into any one genre or category, and end up being tagged as "experimental"; those under-the-radar releases that you know only a relative few have heard; those sounds that lurk somewhere between psychedelia, noise, folk, industrial, drone, ambient...

Furthermore, I'm especially interested in those projects that released just a couple of tracks. I find these releases particularly intriguing and strangely satisfying. My attention span is virtually nil these days, and long albums and extensive discographies tend to bore me.

Some examples of the sort of thing I'm looking for:

Olga - a curious demo I think I got from a distro. 2 brief tracks of simple acoustic guitar lines backed by strange synth noises.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbBKgYHNKaU
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-aHeDXsjow

Varghkoghargasmal - I discovered these in the MySpace days. Bizarre, amateurish surf-tinged neofolk(?) with a BM aesthetic.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srsXQN7wNkE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpiJMj0RSNI

Nancy's Place - these experimental/post-punk/industrial/noise friends of mine are an exception to my extensive discographies rule; they have released many albums over their 27 year existence, but in very limited runs, and have remained well under the radar.
http://www.myspace.com/vanitasqoheleth
http://www.myspace.com/nancy39splace

The Oak Acetator - a local guy who did solo gigs with backing tapes of freaky acid-fried punked-up psychedelia.
http://www.myspace.com/oakacetator

Red Racan - a local collective who would perform semi-improvised collages of experimental drone/psych/folk.
http://www.myspace.com/redracan

I could go on, but these will do for now...

Are there any Synthpop groups who sound like Kraftwerk? Especially something that sounds like Trans-Europe Express or Autobhan. I've been through a lot of the Berlin School stuff so I am already familiar with a lot of early Electronic stuff.

For a near clone of the Kraftwerk sound, check out "Electroworld" by Elecktroids:

And something from a more Krautrock angle, Ashra:

Or by SynthPop do you mean stuff like John Foxx?

I think the inclusion of electronica and trip hop is a terrible, terrible idea. Those kinds of groups shouldn't be discussed alongside metal in the same thread.

I need some good post black metal bands if anyone knows some... will read all 3 pages of the thread to see if any good ones are mentioned, but I'm definitely lacking in my collection.

Electronica and trip hop works for me. Trip-hop easily has some similarity with shoegaze, dream pop and post-rock and this thread is definitely not a metal thread

This.
I associate shoegaze, dream pop, post-punk, etc w/ metal for some reason
Probably because of Lantlos and Alcest and stuff idk.

Also, that vocal recording pic confirmed what I suspected: SLK records shirtless in a sweaty caveman-like delirium. You can almost hear the man stink in the recordings.

I think the inclusion of electronica and trip hop is a terrible, terrible idea. Those kinds of groups shouldn't be discussed alongside metal in the same thread.

what about metal bands WITH trip hop and electronica?

oh shiiii....t

That works. It doesn't necessarily have to be metal either. I just don't feel like music where people make it on a computer should be mixed in a thread with music played with actual instruments in widely different genres. Not that it doesn't take talent to make beats and stuff, it's just in my opinion that they generally don't fit together. Seems like I'm a minority in my thinking.

General recommendation here for anyone who likes Russian Circles: Toundra just released (III), and it's probably my favorite post-whatever of the year.

How so? Dream pop? Maybe. The rest? I don't see it. That isn't to say I have any issues with any of those genres being discussed here though.
