A lot of modern American bands (2000-present) play in drop C, probably half or more of metalcore bands use it.

A few come to mind:
Arsis (early stuff in drop C, then they moved to D standard and E standard)
Darkest Hour use it on nearly everything, except their first two EPs (Eb), a few tracks on Deliver Us in D standard, and a few on the last two in drop B and one or two on the last one in drop Bb.
The Black Dahlia Murder
As I Lay Dying
Children of Bodom (first album in C#, then D, then they started using drop C on some songs on Hate Crew Deathroll, I think)
Killswitch Engage

I don't think Opeth have used drop C, primarily drop D, E standard, and DADGAD.

Black Dahlia Murder play in C standard, not drop C. Origin play in drop C.

The Black Dahlia Murder use C standard, not drop C. System Of A Down use it as well. I think Metallica have used the tuning on their more abominable material also.

Also going to shamelessly point at my own band which uses Drop C on everything, Oshiego.

Cerebral Bore.
Gojira switch between D standard and drop C.

Baroness tune to drop Bb, though that means that switching to C standard is just a one string job.

Miss May I
A Day's Past
A Day to Remember (some songs)
Bullet for My Valentine (I think they might be C standard though)
As Blood Runs Black

Like Zodijackyl said, probably about half Metalcore bands use Drop C tuning. Drop D is another popular one, the rest is scattered. You might also find some Deathcore in Drop C, but they often like to tune even lower, some like to go so low that they just get a 7 string.

I'm going to close this because it is more or less a list thread without any individualized feedback/discussion, and quite a few of these are uh, not even close to metal. You can find very extensive lists of bands who use drop C (and other tunings) here:
