Ouch. Always sucks to see a core member leave a band. Glad to see they're continuing, but I wonder how this effect the songwriting process...

Destroyer 666 always balanced black metal with thrash and melodic elements. In order to determine what their sound would be without him, we have to consider which of those dimensions was his contribution. The black metal core will remain the same, but it may become thrashier or less melodic. I don't like his leaving either, but their sound had grown somewhat stale on recent offerings, so perhaps his replacement will provide them a rebirth?

Very sad news. Shrapnel wrote some of my favourite music in metal. He was a great guitarist, and intimidating onstage. I wonder if he will continue with Adorior and Razor of Occam?

I believe Destroyer 666 will go on to make more excellent music though.

Does this mean a new Adorior album? Because fuck yes! Don't mind that he leaves D666 for that...

It's a shame, really. I'm sure Destroyer will continue to kick ass but I wonder how their sound will change. Now I'm even more interested in the new album.

Major bummer here, but that band is so good that I think they will carry on just fine without him. Here's hoping for new music soon. New ADORIOR please!

The man gave one hell of a last show I can tell you. Still waiting for a video to go up from the gig but it, aptly, destroyed.

It will be very interesting to see what direction the band goes in from here. My guess would be it will depend who they get as a guitarist. They could go after another Aussie playing in one of the million or so Black/Thrash bands down there or they could go for someone else entirely. Whatever they end up doing I'm sure the end result will blow our fucking minds, and our speakers.

If the early material is any indication where their direction might go, just listen to the Violence... EP. KK wrote all that and it's pretty thrashy black metal. That is if they don't get another guitarist, which I'm sure they will. I really hope the new material is more along the lines of Unchain the Wolves as I thought Defiance was somewhat weaker than the rest of their output. Anyway, this does suck as Shrapnel is a superb guitarist and a very nice, outgoing guy, but at least they are moving forward.

The CD mix of Defiance is terrible. Hearing the vinyl version does wonders for the album.

Would be interesting to see what kind of project he works on next. Also, at least the band isn't calling it quits because of this.

I have six, as I'm missing Defiance. I do have To The Devil His Due, but would like to own all the 7" at some stage. Might start a vinyl collection too...

No "Cold Steel..." or "To the Devil..."? Your really missing out mate.

Pretty sure all copies of Defiance came with a sticker. Know mine and two mates did.

Missing out for sure!

Both Cold Steel... For An Iron Age and To The Devil His Due are awesome.

Also people really need the hear Defiance on vinyl. Even the picture disc is 100X better than the CD.

Never got al the hate for the production on the CD myself. Sure its not top quality and the first couple of times I gave it a listen it sounded a little out of place but its grown on me and when I listen to it now its not anywhere near as bad. Although the production on the most recent EP is much better.

"An integral member of the pack... Destroyer will continue"

I cracked up when I read this. Obviously not too integral.

But yes, he was integral and even if they continue with a new guitarist, I'm not sure they will be able to create the same D666 feel. We'll just have to wait and see.

Have you heard the vinyl version? Much less compressed, and the guitars are higher in the mix.

I assure you guys that dreadmeat will 'get there'. You'd agree if you took a look at the amount of CDs he shares in the purchases thread.

Maybe me? If we're only counting their music catalogue anyway...only thing I know of that I don't own is the "Violence Is The Prince Of This World" Marble vinyl LP (limited to 5 copies)

Got so many other D666 collectables but it's hard to keep track of whats out there when it comes to that stuff...

UNCHAIN_THE WOLVES, what sort of collectables have you got?? do you also have Lord of the wild on blue wax, of women wolves and war on clear & Terror Abraxas on clear? They're a few im really struggling to find.

I wish they'd do a flag of some kind, that would be killer.

Yeah mainly Vinyl, the Marble "Violence" is the only one I haven't got yet... have all of them incuding the 3 you mentioned... they are tough to track down... especially that Blood/Clear Of Wolves Women & War & the Blue King Of Kings as there were only 100 of each pressed...... Have all their CD's, a few tapes, shirts, hoodies, and signed stuff too...

A flag would be awesome... the one thing I really want is an official live DVD... and an official live album!
