Went to see The Temper Trap last night, and I had to tell you guys how crappy the opener was.

Three guys, on stage. Drummer, vocals/DJ, and 'Hype-Man'. The hype guys' main function on stage was swaying to the high energy drumming/beat, and hitting a tambourine. The vocalists atonal off key singing ( he had a sore throat apparently) essentially killed anything the drummer worked for, and the audience very nearly ran to the outdoors bar after the first song.

This shit may have flown at the VELD festival or whatever, but the Tuesday night audience isn't hopped up on E cut with whatever the dollar store has on sale. I still don't know who these guys were, as there name was nowhere to be found. I guess that is kind of lucky, so that any curious souls don't get ear-raped after reading this.



Luckily, The Temper Trap put on a great show, and the crowd was really into it. Great concert, if I could forget about the opener..

What I do when I want a slew of new bands, of whatever genre I am feeling at the time, is to just use the advanced search. For example; Speed metal, Germany, formed between '84-94' or something, then go wild. I actually do this all the time and end up searching through a solid few hundred bands at a time. I tend to forget, but my wanted list should be roughly twice the size it is now.

Do this also. Thrash metal, America (or whatever country), 80-88, and just click on the bands that have the coolest names and hope for the best. Found some pretty good stuff that way.

It wasn't a promo thread and the owner of Abyss records has been annoying us since we rejected this band. Also, received a very mean hatemail today for a review I rejected. Busy day!

You and all the other mods should post all the hatemail you guys get. And to pad this post out, you people should all listen to Horrorscope.

That would be mighty entertaining. But in Abyss' defense, I've had nothing but good experience's with them.

I second the notion of mods posting the hate mail they get. It would certainly make for a very entertaining thread, akin to the Rejected Reviews thread.

Anyone who likes chaotic, cavernous and grimey as fuck black/death should check out the recent split from Antediluvian and Adversarial. It’s absolutely killer.

That's my favorite release so far this year. It's one of the few splits where one band doesn't completely outmatch the other.

So everytime I turn on the Olympics it's a lame event that I have exactly zero interest in (basketball, in this case).
Kinda bumming me out.
