I'm going to Italy this summer, anyone knows about good metal shops there? I'll be visiting Milano, Firenze, Pisa and some other Tuscany cities.

^Hey, I live in Sunderland, but am from Newcastle. I just go to uni here.
There used to be a seedy little record shop in Newcastle near JG Windows I think. It might have been called Reflex or something, but it's been so long since I went down there that I don't even know if it's still open (or anywhere near Windows...)
So yeah... If anyone knows any good places in Newcastle/Sunderland I'd appreciate that too!

You can kind-of see it there. Like I say, I haven't been down for years but last time I was in it had some weird stuff.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Every shop I've been to either is going out of business or is hipster central.

Is there anything in Salzburg, Austria [or near] you know about? I am studying here but I haven't found anything useful. Neither a bar, a concert location nor a nice metal store. Only a Christian CD store............

The main one in Richmond, Virginia is Plan 9 Records. They do have a metal selection, but the majority of the store (and surrounding area) is overflowing with hipsters

Do you know any rock/metal shop in India (Deli, Lucknow, Canpore) and Indonesia?
I'm heading for a trip through Asia and I know (and I've been to) only shops in Istanbul, Kathmandu, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Peking, Ulan Bator, Singapore but I've never been to Indonesia and never had enough time to search for shops in India...

Looking for shops in the United Kingdom. Anywhere in the midlands or south england Southampton area.

I've not been to a metal record shop yet. Do they even exist in England? All I see are hmv stores and they're terrible, but I did find some Darkthrone and Burzum cds once.

Have you been to the Exclusive Company's Metal Haus in Greenfield? It's a fairly small section of the larger store, but it's got some decent stuff. Firewalk Metal also apparently has a shop in Cudahy or somewhere, but I haven't been since they shut down the place they took over from Ear Wax in West Allis. I do like Rush Mor Records in Bay View, though. Yeah, it's "hipster central," but Dan, the owner who works there, is super cool. More of a hardcore than a metal guy, but still very cool. . .

In Firenze there are:

-Rock Bottom (Specialized in vinyl only. From progr rock 70 to metal to punk to alternative. Via de' Giraldi, 16R. ) http://www.rockbottom.it/modx/

-Super Records (ex Data Records, ex Contempo Records. Specialized in old metal/punk vinyl but also with a good selection of CD's from rock to psych to metal, death, punk, alternative.... Via Dei Neri http://www.superecords.com/)

-Galleria del Disco (it's just under the train station: specialized in CD, new releases and with a huge selection of old releases. Some vinyl replicas too)

30 minutes on the street : get a bike.
30 minutes on the highway : yeah, bus.

I'd do it just so I'd never have to pay shipping again.

Anyone know of a good metal shop in the bay area California?

From SF to no farther north than Mendocino... Sonoma where I live is so small it doesn't even have a normal music store.

I found an awesome hole in the wall shop in Salzburg last summer on Schallmooser HaupstaBe that was literally right next to a decent sized venue plastered with metal fliers. The guy behind the counter was stoked to see a foreigner and talked with me about local bands for a good hour. Great specialty selection, including a small rack of shirts and hoodies, awesome staff. I think the name had the word Metal in the title. Hopefully it's still there.

Closest to you that I know of would be Rasputin in Vallejo. It's not a specialty shop but I found a ton of great stuff when I lived out there, usually in the used bin for cheap. If you can make it further out, Berkley and SF have Rasputin's and Amoeba's with an unbeatable selection. Aside from those there's Aquarius in the Mission district of the city but they only carry black metal. Some really great finds and decent prices but super speific. They're website has their entire catalogue I believe along with paragraph reviews/pertinent info blurbs

Hey guys,

I'm going to Edinburgh in a weeks time and wouldn't mind visiting a metal/punk store. There's only one or two in my whole country. Cheers.

There's nowhere in particular, that I know of, which is an overtly metal shop, maybe there is some punk stuff, but I really don't know. I've spent a while looking, too.

perhaps not what you're looking for, but The Banshee Labyrinth is a decent metal/punk-pub - The kind of place where you could wear a Bathory t-shirt into and get at least one or two "Fuck yeah, Bathory" type remarks from random people.

Blacksburg, VA would be nice. There is a mall with an FYE nearby that has a decent selection but it could be better when I'm looking for stuff from my favorite underground Post-Glam-Speed-Folk band, you know? hahaha

Don't know if it's been posted here yet but there's a pretty good shop at the Mall of Georgia (Buford, Georgia). Lots of good metal gear and clothing, they've also got a killer collection of albums as well as comics. It's the only shop I know of in my area but if you guys and gals know of any other good stores in or around that area let me know!

Also, the name of the store is Rock Shop Music & Comics

Thanks for the recommendation! We are in the Mall of Georgia, so if anyone's in the Atlanta area, come check us out. We've got a ton of metal merch in stock. You can get an idea of what we have from our website (where you can order, and we ship for free!) and our Facebook page.

Fort Collins, CO. "Rock N Robin's" seems to carry some metal but I would like to find something that leans heavily to the metal side. It's a college town and metal isn't really in with the hipsters here so I doubt I'll find anything.

For Richmond check out Vinyl Conflict, they're a much smaller store, but focus mainly on punk and metal, definitely well worth checking out.
