I think I'm gonna go revisit some WASP this afternoon. The Last Command was always a personal favorite. The Headless Children had their best overall songs, but TLC was probably their most consistent. The Crimson Idol isn't something I play very often but I like the melancholy of it.

Does your invitation to fight in the darkness of hell still stand?

That's both hilarious and immensely disquieting.

At most of the cool funerals, yes. Like mine, hopefully.

So I got a CDR from a trucker labeled "Obama" and was given the impression that it was some anti-Obama music. Wasn't too keen on checking out anti-Obama music from a trucker in Kansas, but when I popped it in the compy, it was actually a DVD documentary from Alex Jones about the NWO. :|

Child slavery, religious weirds, funeral doom haters, Shapeshifters for Prez, and yet I still can't get over the phrase "Astounding Luck Wave."

I want to start a psychedelic doom band called that.

I'd go with Esoteric's Pernicious Enigma or Paragon of Dissonance, or Wormpleghm's album as the best in funeral doom myself, but Tragedy and Weeds is magnificent and needs more love. Only heard the last Colloseum, but I didn't like it. I gave Thergothon another listen to the other day since its been getting so much love, and it is great, but it wouldn't be in my top 30 funeral doom albums.

On the Christian friends thing, I've only had one close Christian friend, the only stupid thing he had was the "if we evolved from monkeys why are there still monkeys" thing, and the "a scientist stuck moths to trees to prove evolution, therefore all evolution science is fraudulent". Its weird because the guy was way smarter than me, and far more leftist than I was back then.

It always surprises me too when intelligent people are religious. But I suppose they're just as afraid of death as idiots are.

You aren't implying that the only reason for being religious is fear of death are you?

Basically everyone is, to a certain degree. The unsettling, while accurate, name psychology gives all methods of coping is "Terror Management." I'm personally terrible at Terror Management. I really like being alive, and it's infuriating that I'm doomed regardless of what I do. So I pretty much lack sufficient or long-acting coping mechanisms. Eventually the mortal terror creeps in and I compulsively tell everyone I love how much I love them and why, and that it's a nightmare that no matter how much I love them, it won't keep either of us alive. That's a rough time. Eventually I surface and go on with my life, but .. damn. It just fucking blows and I hate it. #existentialdoomspiral/nohope

I know what you mean, Grave_Wyrm. Once I start thinking about it, usually late at night, my thoughts go in a loop of existential dismay that it's pretty hard to break free of.

Right .. so we ride the pendulum between resignation and resolve, hopefully with some reflections like this to help us stay something like on track:

"Why grinnest thou at me, thou hollow skull?
Save that thy brain, confused like mine, once sought bright day
And in the sombre twilight dull,
With lust for truth, went wretchedly astray?"

Well I've never been afraid of death myself, It's how I die that concerns me. There are some ways of dying I'd rather not experience.

I've never read any Gaiman, but he wrote an intro for one of my Lovecraft anthologies and it was one of the most pretentious and awkwardly written things I've read, so I was never exactly interested.
