g'day, i got a Nebula cd called "peel session" and i'm trying to figure out if it's a bootleg or promo cd etc
it's got no booklet or covers, it doesn't sound live and it's too good to be a demo [i suppose]
i don't see it here at MA or at Discogs, any suggestions? they have a live album called Peel Sessions but this isn't it.

here are two scans of the cd and a screenshot of it playing in my media player [which means it's in CDDB]

I'm going to assume that you did this first, right? You wouldn't just randomly post, would you? Naw, I didn't think so. :)

John Peel hosted a show on BBC radio where bands would play and record live tracks. There are plenty of gems to be found through this show.

nebula - sonic titan

sleep - sonic titan

if you look at the track listing on the peel sessions release
http://www.discogs.com/Nebula-Peel-Sessions/release/1722404
http://www.metal-archives.com/albums/Nebula/Peel_Sessions/244184
  • 6 This One
  • 7 Sonic Titan
  • 8 Freedom
  • 9 All The Way
the only song that's missing from the 22nd August 2001 for Radio 1 Peel Session is Do It Now which is on Charged.
This One and All The Way are also on charged.
this could be a promo disc for the peel sessions album?
it's definitely a burned disc [note the green hue] what do you guys think? legitimate promo?

No, it's an official CD that the band sold at shows in 2001. I bought one from them when I saw them play at Spaceland in Silver Lake (that's in L.A., in case you're not familiar.) It came with a hand painted cover - I mean, this cover is thick from the paint. I was introduced to them at the club and hadn't even heard them play yet, but they were cool. I figured that I'd buy a cd of theirs - I usually always ended up liking the bands I saw anyways, so I asked which one they recommended. I was told that there were only 500 of these CDs made and that they were special recordings. They made them sound like they were really out of the ordinary and that it was really something great, so, I bought one. The funny thing about this story is that I didn't even have a cd player until about 1995!!! Anyways, I listed it at Discogs just recently. I was searching for more info on this very cd when I came across this post, which is the only evidence that I have to prove that I didn't just conjure this cd up in my own imagination. And, if I am the one who is depended on to forward the info about this release then I gotta say, I really fucked up and should have paid more attention to what was being said that night! HAHAHA!

LOL! That's cool! I had no idea. I guess because I didn't notice the unofficial releases. Since you got to it first, you can do the honors of the merge. That, plus I've only been submitting info for about a month but it's been about a month straight! Yeah, so I'm still looking for info, if I come across anything good I'll clue you in.
