For those in the Twin Cities area of MN, check out Discland in Bloomington (822 W 98th Street, Bloomington MN 55420). They have a pretty nice metal selection, much better than any of the Cheapo Records stores or the Electric Fetus. Mostly used death metal, but I've found quite a few goodies the times I've visited. Nothing will ever match Root Cellar Records though.

If anybody ever goes to Daytona Beach in Florida, there's a nice independant record/CD store there called Atlantic Sounds. They have a decent new metal section, and a used metal section with some surprisingly underground releases in there. A good portion of the shop is vinyl, and they have a nice rock section as well. Definitely a place you'll want to spend awhile looking around. The owner is a super nice guy, but keep in mind most Sundays they're closed.

Probably pissing in the wind, but Wichita, Kansas? Fuck, the only place I could think of was FYE in Towne East and that thing doesn't exist anymore. That was the only place that got stuff from Peaceville and Candlelight.

Home of Manilla Road, and we have jack shit for buying metal...

Hogwild is the absolute best place in San Antonio.

Hogwild is the best place in San Antonio, but it's kind of expensive. I bought an original pressing, sealed copy of "Fatal Portrait" by King Diamond at Flipside. A few days later at Hogwild, I found an original pressing of the same record, not sealed, and with a bit of damage, for $12 more than the copy I got at Flipside.

I lived in Texas for 19 years, and the best record store I have seen in Texas (or anywhere else) is Forever Young Records in Grand Prairie. They have all kinds of music on vinyl, including a goldmine of extremely rare stuff. They sort the records a little weird, but believe me, it's more than worth it, and worth the drive from San Antonio. The fact that Deh Dabbler lives in Dallas and hasn't heard of this is wild. Get there!!

Yes. Vinyl Conflict. Somewhat small, but good selection, and almost all metal. A former drummer of Municipal Waste works there.

Lunchbox Records. I have never been there myself, but the drummer of my band has been a couple times. He goes on and on about the black metal selection, and he's into even more obscure stuff than I am.

I know of the metaltravelguide site, but I'm interested if any people here can offer some suggestions for music shops in the following cities because going through that site didn't reveal much: Munich, Prague, Saltzburg and Vienna. Any recommendations along with small descriptions and comments about the selection, prices etc. would be extremely helpful.

There are a few record stores in Scranton, PA, but they're not metal exclusive. Some do have a decent selection. I got The Olden Domain by Borknagar at one for like $5 or $6. That was easily the best find ever for me, but other than that, there isn't much else around here. There is also a pawn shop owned by a huge metalhead, but he doesn't have much in the metal CD or Vinyl department for sale. He has a great personal collection of metal albums, though.

I saw this one asked twice and to no avail, which I'm not taking as good news. But does anyone know anywhere in Las Vegas OTHER THAN Zia? Their selection isn't bad, but it's kinda small.

hi, I used to live in Las Vegas. Very hard to find metal there. Zia is pretty much the only place. If you're into vinyl, there is Record City for used LPs and trading. there are several locations. Nothing too obscure, since it's not a metal shop, but there is a lot of good old-school 80s metal and prog records. I got handful of NWOBHM records for real cheap last i went. They sell CDs too.

There used to be Big B's records (similar selection to Zia) by UNLV, but I don't know if it's still open.
there is a punk store called Cash 4 Chaos also close to UNLV. Somewhere near Maryland Parkway and Flamingo, if I can remember correctly. it's mostly a punk clothing store, but they sell a little metal in the CD selection.

There´s a lot of good stores along the Avenida (Calle) 19. In the Via Libre shopping mall (Avenida 19 Carrera 5) and Carrera 8 esquina second floor.
Anything from vinlys to Blue-Rays.

I just checked out their online store and am very surprised at the amount of metal music/merch. They didn't have any of that when I was living in Vegas, at least not in-store. It was all punk.

Here in Appleton, WI, we had one metal shop 'Earwax Punk & Metal' that lasted for four months (May-August of 2003). However, we also have a long running indie shop, the Exclusive Company, with a heavy slant towards metal CDs, vnyl, and t-shirts.

Anything in the Los Angeles area other than:

Jacknife which seems to specialize mostly in vinyls/tapes/old stuff and collectibles

Dark Realms which seems to be purely black and death metal

Amoeba which seems to only have the popular metal stuff

Second Spin which seems to have the best "metal" stuff although it's sort of hit and miss (used CDs)

I'm hoping there's more out there...

I'm planning to go to Singapore around September/October this year. Any metalheads would be willing to allow me to either crash in or show me around (metal shops and most probably comic shops too)? If there are any big gigs going, do tell me too.

I'm from East Malaysia, not West, so I've never been to Singapore before.

Actually, the Princeton Record Exchange (20 South Tulane St.) has an excellent selection of Metal and only 40 minutes away is the best music store on the East Coast, Vintage Vinyl. http://www.vvinyl.com

There's an excellent new Metal store in the Hampden section of Baltimore on Falls Rd. called Black Mess. Also, Sound Garden on Thames St. in the Fells Point section of Baltimore has an excellent selection of Metal.

I'm heading out to Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia soon and was wondering if there were any cool metal/punk spots to visit out there? Record shops, venues, or even something silly like metal bars.

Thanks
