Finally got my blog up and running with a couple of posts:
http://ifthisishellthenimlucky.blogspot.ca/

Yeah, its super annoying when albums don't come out by their release date. I'm looking forward to Blood Symmetry, but somehow I feel that its not going to be as good as Levitating The Carnal. I can't for the life of me figure out why Mutatiis would say "I don't hate this anymore." Guess marketing isn't his strong point.

Is Blood Geometry by Elysian Blaze even out yet? It's been a month since it was supposed to be released but the last I've seen from the label was that it was being sent out to be pressed. I haven't seen the album being sold anywhere, not even Osmose Productions. I was told off for putting it up without a definite release date, but its entry page is still up even though it's a month overdue, at the very least.

I had forgot all about the new Elysian Blaze! You are correct, I can't seem to find it on the Osmose site.

It says on the site it will soon go to manufacture

http://www.osmoseproductions.com/headin ... -news.html

I've never known an album take so long. I read somewhere Mutatiis has recorded 2 albums since BG, but I'm hugely skeptical about anything EB now.
It's like that famous movie, Waiting for Godot

only here three will probably come along at once :ugh:

I may not have been able to get through a Melville short novel ("Billy Budd"...ehh...) today but I did update my movie blog. At least that makes me feel a little more productive.

Man, I really want to like Portrait and In Solitude, but I can't seem to manage it. Vocals have nothing on the King, and the riffs, melodies, etc just aren't there. You walk too closely in someone footsteps, you're always going to be in their shadow.

One of my favorite short stories. Some wonderful, ambiguous characters, an odd sense of morality, the detriment of war...what wonders! Of course, Melville is one of my favorites and wrote my favorite book (Moby Dick) so my tastes are a teensy bit biased.

Oh, I loooooooove Firefly, I watched the serie like 3 times and I own the dvds. Hellblazer is a huge fan of it too.

Mal

Let's just say I probably wasn't in the right mood for that one - I'll try it again later. I started reading Moby Dick also and I like that way better. Both of these are for class, but I'd be perfectly happy discovering them even not for a class.

Firefly is great, so are Buffy and Angel. Joss Whedon is the man.

Hahaha I love when people come here and try to argue about what's "fair", "best", or my absolute favorite "logical" in relation to a completely privately owned and operated website. Sorry, you have not a leg to stand on.

In other news one of my closest friends and roomies had his first motorcycle wreck. Jumped a median while turning to read a sign. The bike allegedly got fully airborn, and he was drug along the ground helmet scraping pavement on the landing. Bike only took some scrapes but he broke his collar bone so he'll be on short-term disability for awhile. I'm glad he wasn't too cool for a helmet.

Right on, Firefly has always been my favourite of the Science-Fiction shows. Never could get into any of the eras of Star Trek. agreed with the Whedon love.

Yeah, Firefly is a sick show. Liked how it ended with the movie. Its a shame It only lasted one season. Star Trek is alright I guess, I'll watch some of the older stuff if other people are watching, but I'd never watch it on my own initiative.

Yeah, and it just makes it so confusing that they would care that much in the first place. Do they lose sleep over it? This guy was worse than usual just because he was so entitled about it, what with writing for so many other metal sites that allow him to talk about Disturbed and Tool and other such crap.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I've never used this site before, but they have some stuff I was looking for for way cheaper than other places.

Oop!

Oh, about Blood Geometry, give it some time, bros. Sometimes label stuff moves slowly. I'm really looking forward to it myself, but if the wait has been this long already, what's another few weeks? Definitely looking to get my hands on it as soon as possible, though, as it's one of my most anticipated releases of this year. Admittedly, there aren't many.

Anhedonist seems like an interesting newish band. I like the doom/death hybrid, but somehow haven't been able to fully get into albums like Transcendence Into the Peripheral. Should probably give that one another chance.

Anhedonist is amazing, and Netherwards is soul-crushing. I especially like the higher-pitched yelping/screeching parts. Eerie as hell.

Anhedonist was very boring in my opinion, I'm usually a fan of doom/death but meh. Anguish is great though if we're talking about DDR bands, they got that epic doom feel while being quite heavy and crushing.

I've seen Anhedonist live multiple times here in Seattle and they bored me. Granted I was there to see other bands like Wormrot on one occasion, so Anhedonist just felt like some troublesome opening band.

Metantoine, your response.

But yes, Wormrot were very, very good. Small venue, and I only found out the day of by MA user iAm a few hours prior. Good thing I was able to go, as I got to meet the members and get Abuse with a t-shirt (Abuse cover art) as well. This was right before Dirge was released, too. Their set was ruthless.

So, I'm listening to a little piece called Rain Upon the Impure for the first time right now. WHAT THE FUCK, WHERE HAS THIS BEEN MY WHOLE LIFE!? I've only gotten through 50 Forts Along the Rhine so far, but that song seriously fucked my face clean off my head.

I like Anhedonist, it's heavy, it's loud, it doesn't try to be gothic or overuse the quiet/loud dynamic, simple and brutal. Admittedly they're a bit one toned because of it but they have a bunch of great riffs and I would take their stuff over shit like Pallbear any day. I wish they used their death metal side a bit more though, not only are they a nice change in pace they're also really good at it. Currently it's my fifth best album of the year, as far as BEST doom Inverloch is better, but it's only 21 minutes including the minute of absolute silence between every song, so it's like 18.

Yeah, don't compare them to Pallbearer, I liked their album on my first listen, but it's very uninspired doom, Pilgrim's full length is much better. The best doom of 2012 so far is the latest Ancestors so good, the new Alderaban seems cool, I'll need to check it out.

Indeed, Misery Wizard is a collection of mostly excellent riffs and awesome vocals. I'll check out that Ancestors album.

I wouldn't say they're going the same thing as Pallbearer, that'd be silly, I was more getting at if I was given a choice between those two styles I'd take the stupid heavy as hell one any day. Pallbearer are almost boring, they're kinda like Reverend Bizarre in that they'd make a pretty cool heavy metal band, but they're really determined to be doom and they totally suck at doom. Pallbearer at leas only wait 6 or seven minutes between cool rocking out parts, RB wait like 14.

What is Ancestors great quality, I know nothing of it. Oh god, Aldebaran, that thing made me want to kill myself, fucking tedious shit, I can't tell the difference between it and Profetus and the dozens of other bands doing exact the same, boring, riffless garbage. Words cannot describe how badly I have fallen off the funeral doom wagon haha.

I gotta disagree there. Sure Reverend Bizarre are pretty repetitive, but they're leagues better than Pallbearer and have way better tone and riffs.

I'm biased, because I'm convinced RB are the worst popular thing to ever happen to doom.
