I recently tried to add the following band.
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Funesta-N ... 2899039607
http://www.myspace.com/567621257

In the rules it says that a review from a well-known site is also acceptable as evidence of physical release.

Would this do?

Read the first post, hope this is the right place to ask this

I have been trying to add a band and for some reason they are blacklisted. They have never been on Metal Archives, have physical releases, and have been on multiple labels but for some reason the band "Loud Silence" will not be accepted. I am wondering why this is. Hopefully the blacklisting can be removed so I may add the band.
If there is a good reason for the Blacklisting then do tell please. Thanks.

The band: www.facebook.com/LoudSilenceOFFICIAL

Has been on Depressive Illusions Records, Smell The Stench, and is scheduled for a release on Kadaath records.
Does Depressive Black Metal, Harsh Noise, and Ambience (Often mixed together)
So far the band has 3 physical releases and it working on a split with Exhaled Life

I hope this is enough to remove the blacklisting.

Personally I think you have answered your own question: they probably aren't metal enough i.e. they do not have a single release that is considered Metal enough by the moderators.

Now, now, Rob1 isn't a moderator, so there might be a totally different reason behind the band's blacklisting.

The blacklist note suggests that Rob1 is indeed correct. I know nothing about this band or its history here, but if they don't have at least one predominantly metal album physically released, they'll stay blacklisted.

So if a band has at least one mostly metal album they will be listed? Or does it have to be most of their discography in general?
And the guy said that he had never done anything on this site or with his band on this site, he was just blacklisted from the beginning for some reason.

One predominantly, without-a-shadow-of-a-doubt metal album.

Please answer. I don't want to submit this band and have it rejected in addition to (probably) having my ass banned out of existence.

Sorry, but after running that through Google Translate (sorry, I don't know a word of Italian :p), I wasn't able to find any mention that the demo was released physically. The webzine could've easily been reviewing a digital-only release.

Most probably because it's punk-based grindcore with too few or no metal elements.

Philm are blacklisted ... but they have a release out and should qualify as a side-project of Dave Lombardo and David Nestler. Their music is distributed by Ipecac Recordings.
It is available:

Why have Black Spiders been blacklisted? It's old-school, but it's metal without a doubt.

Can Visceral Throne be Un-Blacklisted? I know the date of release is tomorrow on Brutal bands (US time , I'm guessing as Brutal Bands is American Label). But the CD is Available to buy straight from the band's merch site: http://visceralthrone.bigcartel.com/pro ... sperity-cd

I was going to add Aversions Crown from Australia, but saw that they were already blacklisted. I think it now fits to ask: Why?
They got a physical release(of not two), and I've seen them been listed as "Technical Deathcore"(don't remember where), "Death Metal"(on Spirit Of Metal) and "Deathcore"(somewhere). They're on facebook(hm...), Spirit of metal(as I said earlier), myspace and youtube etc. Not a side project(as far as I can tell...).
It may be on the genre part, cuz I'm just somewhat good recognizing genres. But I'm sure they're deathcore(yes, I know you don't take deathcore bands "if they're not metal enough"), but not sure about that technical and/or death metal thing... maybe I've already answered myself here...

They're deathcore; and they are predominantly more based in -core than they are in metal.

In all honesty, we don't care what others might label them. Why? Because everyone else has their own views on what metal is, and so does MA. MA doesn't consider that band to be metal; the "qualifying element" of what this site considers metal - the metal riff - just isn't what the music of that band tends to be based on. Spirit of Metal will consider them with whatever is closest to how that site defines metal... and to be honest, I really don't know what that is. Spirit of Metal is most certainly more broad and less strict on what it accepts, and for what reason, I do not know.

Sorry. I know it might suck that MA doesn't consider a lot of -core based music to be metal enough for acceptance here. It's just the nature of the site. It tries to be a metal encyclopedia, and part of that is making sure that the qualifications for what this site considers metal is narrow enough (and broad enough) to reflect what is viable as a metal band, and what is not a metal band... and sometime that line is difficult to draw. Deathcore is just one of those genres that tends to ride that line; the music of some bands is driven by metal riffs with hardcore-style influences, and the music of others is the exact opposite... it's just -core with some loose and shallow take on metal. It sounds ridiculous, with trying to narrow down what each band sounds like to its most basic level, but it can be done.

Ok, was just wondering :) I can understand that thing with "what is metal and what's not". Cuz I'm often unsure what to classify a band(if it isn't too obvious of course), and find it better to ask nicely instead of arguing that I'm right and that kind of stuff.

Yes, I may be alot into -core, but I do respect MA and your guidelines/rules about what's metal(oh, a rare piece of shit I am :D ) and I DO understand if we don't got the same view of what's metal, and I can get along with it ;) and hopefully follow your standards in the future :)

Upload them to the internet (imgur.com for example) and then just copy-paste the links into the section on the band page named "Submission Notes."

I'm not sure if this has been asked before, but may I ask why a German band called Knorkator has been blacklisted?
They have several albums(I own one), and they play industrial metal (despite their random lyrics). Also, the band actually exists, and they have a real website.
Thanks in advance.

The blacklist note claimed they were a "fake band" with "just a website with no content"... since that's obviously not the case, I've unblacklisted them.

Not guaranteeing they'll qualify as a side-project, though. Submit, and then we'll see. :)

Philm submitted ...

now what about this one:
http://www.discogs.com/DJ-Spooky-That-S ... ase/511208
Can such even be submitted? And how? Simply as one side-project of Dave Lombardo? A label that has David Bowie and the like has a world-wide distribution.

There are some more releases:

Didn't you read the rejection email? It's not metal (the self-titled EP, at least).

I don't think that's much of a separate entity, just a temporary collaboration and it would look really out of place (haven't heard it, just going by what I see). Adding it to the additional notes on Dave's artist page should be enough.

Gotta update my email address. I'll get on that. I see that the format of the rejection emails has changed since the last time I tried to add a band. Actually says why its rejected.

Tried to submit the band Cyclopian but it's blacklisted... their record sounds pretty metal to me

Their debut it's free for downloading and streaming in bandcamp (Also, the CD can be ordered from their site)

Thanks!

The blacklist note says "post-rock" but this sounds like pretty damn solid doom metal to me. I've unblacklisted them, you can submit. :)
