Hey, cool. I didn't make the connection that you were behind super famicom for some reason; I'd looked you up because of the Plan-it-X Fest Roster and thought it was really awesome stuff. A bit all over the place, but it mostly adheres to genres I really enjoy so it works out nicely.

God I feel like such a fuckup right now. At our gig last night, we do this one song where there's a funky drum breakdown which is followed by a part with just guitar. Now, all the monitors are pointing outward, so I'm having a hard time hearing what everyone else is playing. Anyway, I'm playing the breakdown, which is 8 bars, and my guitarist starts giving me this look that I read as "stop what you're doing right now." So even though I was pretty sure it was only 4 bars (I don't count when I play) so I stopped...and then silence. And then I realized and it was just like "fuck." And to make matters worse, when I came back in, I was unsure if we were on 6 or 7, and blah it was just bad.

Thankfully, that was the only fuckup of the entire gig.

It'll be the only thing anyone will talk about from now on at band practice till the next show you do.

yesterday.. recorded a Yzordderrex song and mixed on some tracks.

today recorded a Yzordderrex track, Uzumaki track, and a Filtheater track.

pretty pleased with what i got done.

Ended up writing a four minute long blackthrash song as the closer on my grindy project's new album. Which is a bit strange, because this song's actually not terrible, which kinda goes against the general idea, but what the hell. Now I just have to write lyrics, record vocals, and make an intro track...

It's kind of Anal Cunt worship at times, I guess. Essentially just really fast, ultra short noisy shit. It's not really the kinda thing many people like, but there's a few that like it enough to have paid me for it, so I'm not complaining.

Anyway, about to record some vocals for said noisy shit, and edit some recordings of my folk metal band's last rehearsal.

I finished the acoustic guitars for the Forestfather album, but I'm very tired and probably I'll need to revisit a couple of sections.

This is part of the recording session, so you can tell me what do you think about it - especially the execution.

Hey, thats really good man. The sad sounding acoustic guitar is awesome and that little tremolo thing in the background really adds to the atmosphere.

The tremolo picking could be substituted with finger-picked 16th triplet 3 note arpeggios for greater effect.

You say that I could try to play the tremolo doing an arpegio instead playing a single note with 3 fingers? I'm not sure if I can do it... keep in mind that my playing it's just 1 guitar, I'm doing everything at the same time (the slow arpeggio done with my thumb and the tremolo thing is done with my index, middle and ring fingers). My tremolo it's not that solid tho, I still need to practice it more ot master it.

I'm glad that you liked it! (you too dystopia4). The album will feature more acoustic sections!

Sounds a bit monotone to me, both the music which needs something else and the execution which kind of lacks any type of accentuation. It's not bad, just that nothing is going on. Maybe in the context of the song it makes more sense though.

That is some of the fanciest right hand technique I have heard in quite some time. I liked it, how did you go about recording that part?

I recorded it in a very simple way: I just put my Behringer C-1 condenser mic just in front of the guitar, specifically in front of the 12th fret (I guess with a pair of mics the results could have been better). About the technique: it's just practice (I'm not an exception). In more detail, you just get used to play arpeggios with the sole thumb, so you have the rest of the fingers free to add single notes, arpeggios or a tremolo lead (what I did). in this order: thumb-ring-middle-index/repeat (I play the very first note with the thumb alone, then everything goes at the same time)

At first, I used simple chord progressions and added octaves or 11th/13ths at the same speed of the arpeggio (for example, playing arpeggios using strictly half notes or quarter notes; after nailing that you can add more notes while keeping the same arpeggio - playing with the thumb in half notes and the rest in quarter ones). Practice SLOWLY first. To get it slow is the most important part, since you build consistency and control.

All masters and advanced classic guitarist know this technique and people dedicated to the instrument can do it with patience and perseverance. I still need to work a lot my tremolo.

This is a very well known piece with tremolo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opBK61xYShE

Edit: long nails in the right hand help a lot.

Wrote a few minutes of a post-rock song. Currently writing a gothic, Moonspell-ish kind of groovy song.

right now i have a few ideas for songs that could really e completed, but sitting down with tux guitar and getting into that mode to account for a full band's worth of tracks is stumping me at times, and im ending up writing something completely different. kinda cool that its giving me new ideas and all, but iv been trying to get atleast an ep's worth of songs written so i can start giving the parts out to people and recording for a few months atleast now. act's, prom, and finals are consuming alot of my time right now, but hopefully i will get something done soon

pretty nice, wish it had some vocals on it cause I don't find it so over the top technical that vocals would distract from it in anyway. I think it would further push it.

Since I'm outta town. Not much writing like normal, I have penned a ton of new lyrics. Just been going to town... since monday I've done... let me count real quick....14 sets some titled and some already alotted to various projects.

We are pretty much done writing the new Hellige song, it's going to be about twenty minutes long and more spacey in feeling than the demo, I think that we'll have it done and recorded in about one or two months (we're really lazy).

Today I'll give the final touches to electric guitars and bass - probably I'll add some more acoustic guitars in some sections.

Got about half way through a song for my prog band today. It's by far the most metal and in your face as of yet so it should be interesting to see how that turns out. We're gonna be having our first gig pretty soon too so I'm pretty excited.

Since I'm out of town all I've done is pretty much write lyrics. I've jotted down some ideas for some possible KP work when I get home. My main goal when I get home is finish the last 2 Forestfather tracks I didn't get done before i left. and then possibly some drum tracks for Exeque.

Good stuff, I don't like much modern tech-death but that's solid. Maybe a bit too much of the guitars in the higher frequencies, but it might be tough to get a good sound there otherwise with programmed drums.

Redid a Forestfather track today.

wrote & recorded 2 songs for upcoming Kamikaze Pilots ep
wrote 2 additional tracks for this project that came from the sorta ashes of another band...
I had joined a band via internet in 09 since I was asked. It was basically some very simple old school death/grind. so in a few months I wrote around 2 hours worth of material. I was doing everything aside from drums and lyrics (but doing the vocals). 8 songs were completed in those 3 years due to the drummer being filled with all kinds of setbacks, failures, and excuses. Anyway last week i was informed in email that he was going to go on under the name with a guitarist he lives near so they can play live shows. No prob, said I'll be keeping my material that I wrote and I created a new project to put it to use. also wrote some new material for it as well cause I was kinda pumped to actually have some good drumming/drum recording for it.

this is demo of the upcoming ep planned.
http://youtu.be/9U7jwhdY7YE

Vocals are going to be redone, but nothing was done with the mix aside from panning the guitars. it was just to give some interested parties a taste.

I'm preparing an additional song which I hope will be mixed and mastered in the same sessions as the Forestfather debut, but for a different purpose. I have a bunch of neofolk stuff written and this song is mostly that. Probably the next release will follow this path.

Tomorrow I'll be editing some of the debut' material and record the last set of electric guitars.

I finally left my awful metal band to form two more metal bands. One I'll be axing away in a black metal band called Astral Chaos and playing drums for a doom band call Despiser of the Sun. Possible forming a blues group as a fun side project. Lyrics will be based around selling the soul to the devil and walking the path of evil. We're talking some sweet sweet New Orleans style blues here. Should be a good time. My garage rock band has been neglected due to scheduling, but my main project (my alt rock band) has been writing music left and right. We've got about two hours worth of usable live material, and probably another hours worth of songs that aren't quite ready yet. I've been a bit busy lately, haha. It feels good to be making this much music thought; I haven't been this musically productive in quite a while.

Yesterday I got in contact with a guy who's planning to form a band. He was being really vague about the genre he wants to play, but hopefully it isn't too shitty. He did mention heavy metal and DM though, so hopefully it could turn out to be something like Arghoslent, haha.

Just got back from a gig. We opened for Die Mannequin, but our sound doesn't quite fit the bill so the crowd reaction was kinda mixed. The other two guys in the band have these obnoxious 18 year-old groupies stalking them that threw roses on the stage when we were done. I would have been a bit embarrassed, but it was so fucking stupid I had to laugh.

Sounds dopesick. Want to hear that blues stuff.

Wrote three sludge songs in the vein of Iron Monkey and EHG and I'm working on this funeral doom metal song. Need to get my four track from my friend so I can start recording shit.

I haven't practiced/played much for a while due to other things taking priority, so I'm not very sharp on the tougher stuff I have written. I decided to revisit a bunch of the old school death metal stuff that I wrote many years ago, when I had no sense of songwriting but had some pretty good riffs. I managed to assemble two songs today and I like where I'm going with this. My drum-writing abilities are now much better than 1-2 and kick/snare following the guitar, which really helps it. Now I just need to set up my main guitar once more and find some time when I can record.

My doom band's getting pretty good now, we've got two songs nailed. Both are about ten minutes long, but we have dragged one of them out for 28 before... So we're hopefully going to record them in the end of June, play some gigs, then try and blag our way into supporting Pentagram/Gentleman's Pistols when they tour here in November...

My band's looking to record our 2nd full-length sometime in the latter half of the year, this time with a Focusrite soundcard for guitars and bass and drums in studio, instead of everything being recorded at the studio. Armed with 9 killer(in our own humble opinion of course !) tracks, and we're looking to do a suitable cover as well. For our debut we did a take on Into The Grave by Grave, well received by fans and reviewers alike. This time round, we're considering Black To The Blind by Vader, or possibly an Incantation song, as of yet undecided.

Oh, and here's Into The Grave :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSAkRrf4MHw

Churned out a song for the new band I mentioned in my previous post. Riffs were laid down in a 5min jam, then organized into a coherent song in about 30mins. Which is surprisingly fast considering I take days to write a single song in my other projects. :D
