Apparently Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth has been involved in a car crash, but he seems to have got away with a broken arm...

As long as he's fine, that's what's important!

I'm not a fan of newer Opeth but I'm glad he wasn't seriously injured.

Seems the rumours about a broken arm were not true, it's just a cut on the head: http://legacy.roadrunnerrecords.com/bla ... mID=173680

From Opeths facebook-page:

"Many have already learned that yesterday’s performances at The Myth In St Paul had to be cancelled due to Mikael having an accident.
Right before stage time Mike bumped his head on the tour bus which resulted in a pretty deep cut that required urgent medical attention. Mike was taken to hospital which he left a little later with eight stitches and a nasty headache. He’s doing OK now and we expect him to be up and running (though slightly slower) again for tomorrow’s show and onwards.

Mike & the band were very disappointed not being able to play yesterday but thank everyone for their understanding and for the tons of get-well-wishes Mike has received since.

The band also thanks their friends in Mastodon for playing an extended set that hopefully kept all who attended happy".

Funny thing, rumours... glad it wasn't anything worse than that!

I hope Mikael is alright! It'd suck if anything happened to him since Storm Corrosion and Opeth seem to be pretty big for him right now.

I'm really glad the guy's fine, and everyone should even if they dislike his music. We've lost far too many (great) metal musicians. Also, it's really funny how rumors are made-up and spread so quickly!

Indeed, I am releaved that he's fine aswell. I feel bad for the fans, that could not see Opeth on the night of the accident tho...

I'm glad he's fine. It's funny how these things work. First its a car crash with a broken arm, then it's a car crash with a head wound, and now it's probably just Mikaell or the busdriver being a little clumsy resulting in a head wound. :/

The OP got it wrong: The car crash got involved with Mikael. That's why he has only a broken arm. You can't keep a good man down.

It says it was right before stage time... so this means that he merely hit his head clumsily on the low ceiling of the tourbus (while it was parked up outside the venue), on his way to the stage or something. Quite a stretch to call it a car crash by any means :P

A deep gash on the head? Perhaps that could spark some inspiration for a new Bloodbath song!

I almost went to that show. In a way, I wish I did so I could've caught the extended Mastodon set...

Get well soon Mike!

If the gash jolts him into playing heavy stuff again, could be a good thing. Glad he's okay.

I'm glad the rumor about the broken arm isn't true. I'm not a fan of Opeth, but I'm glad he can still play his guitar. If I was as active of a musician as he is, and I couldn't play my instrument, I'd be devastated. Pretty nasty gash on his head though.

I'm glad he didn't break his arm, that'd be a real shame for the fans.

Still Life is really the only Opeth album I really like. They've got some good songs, on other albums, but Still Life is my favourite overall release.

He is fine, and a trooper, saying that he will recover and continue to tour, and from a broken arm! Huge respect, and I like both new and old Opeth, so this is sad, yet good news that he is getting better.

Even if he had, it's only a broken arm, it's not like it's anything that serious.

If not, I may have to start devoting my time to becoming the Gary Busey of heavy metal.
