Xasthur-suicide in dark serenity

One of his best. Very dark and haunting.

Watain - Legions of the Black Light

If I ever shoot myself in the face, I hope I too have a song this good dedicated to me.

Six Feet Under - Frozen At the Moment of Death
Was not expecting anything good, but lo and behold, it does not suck.
The first song by SFU to not bore me to tears, it's somewhat memorable to boot.

Old Man's Child - Born of the Flickering. I guess Galder's uselessness in Dimmu it's explained for reserving all the great riffs for himself.

Quite so. His last album is still solid proof that the good songwriting and riffs are withheld from DB.

Destruction - Mad Butcher

Good times. Sounds suspiciously similar to Bay Area thrash.

Cattle Decapitation - Monolith of Inhumanity

First listen... This album is pummeling my ears like a freight train. Fucking awesome record. I see this becoming another one of my favorites this year. Liking it more than the Harvest Floor so far. Travis' vocals never cease to amaze me. The riffs... the bass... the blast beats... absolute brutality.

Type O Negative - Wolf Moon

I've fallen in love with the whole October Rust album. They're not a band I'd have invisioned loving a few years ago, but they're in my top-ten just now.

Nuclear Assault - Game Over
Guitar tone is unbelievable on this album. I don't listen to as much thrash these days, but I seem to go back to the bands with a fuzzier guitar tone.

Electric Wizard - Funeralopolis

That opening riff could be used to disrupt schools of blue whales in the Sea of Cortez--from the English Channel. So heavy. I am constantly paying homage to the majesty of the Wizard's "Great Triumvirate" (Come My Fanatics, Dopethrone, and Let Us Prey) by playing them until my windows rattle in their casings.

Indeed. A brutally evil sound. And that album cover is so twisted. Love it.

Allegaeon - Formshifter

Great fallow up. This record seems easier to figure out upon first listen then their first. However Il still need a few more listens to b ecome more familiar with the material. Surely it will grow on me. Very impressive over all.

Reido - -11

For those of you wanting something like F:all, you will be totally disappointed. This sounds absolutely nothing like that one. It's still quite doomy but nothing like what the debut was. However, I'm still enjoying this. It's a lot more accessible and it will take some listens to fully digest but I am enjoying it. It's basically a different band now, though.

^ Some good shit in there.

P.H.O.B.O.S. - Atonal Hypermnesia

Hmm! Not as aggressive as anything else they've done. It's still without a doubt P.H.O.B.O.S., but they're definitely holding back. A softer approach to what they do. I don't hate it, but it may not live up to my expectations. Time will reveal.
