Hah, that's pretty good. I'd have to assume then, that "The Drummer" is probably the creative payload behind this project. I love that all the songs on the demo are untitled too. They fucking commit, I'll give em that.

It gets better:
Quote:
Each demo copy has its own unique, hand-made cover made from duct tape and cardboard. The exact number of copies made is unknown, but it's somewhere around 15 or 30.

 Because it matters so much how many there were... although I kinda want one now, just to find out what it sounds like.

As a collector, I can attest to the fact that the number of copies of an album that are available is SRS BSNS. ಠ_ಠ

Wow and one of the dudes is from Jex Thoth, so its likely that this isn't just some crappy garage band.

Just listened to my first Disgorge (Mex) album, who would have thought a band which resorts to such gruesome cover photos would actually be one of the more most musically worthwhile brutal death metal bands around. Although I admit, the album was the tamely covered Nekrholocaust.

So I just listened to Absu for the first time...

Why in the name of Lemmy did I not do this before? Heard everyone talking about them before, but never actually sat down and gave them a whirl. Cool, cool shit.

Anyone here a fan of the group Blacklodge? Been sampling some of their gear, and holy fuck! I need to get me some this shit. Fucking good stuff. Check it out.

Absu are quite wonderful. Of course, I managed to become interested in them after their local tour... I am blessed with fabulous timing: I get into a band, look them up online to see if there's any chance of catching live, only to find out that they've just played here and probably won't again (for a while, at least). :grumble:

Man, listening to the new Rage is like a big old nostalgia trip for me - one of the first bands I really got into in metal with Unity and Soundchaser. And the new one finally has some great tunes to live up to those albums. Feels good to sit here and listen to this one.

I wish I could say the same about the bands that got me into metal. Even speaking of actual metal, there isn't much good to be said of Abrahadabra, and whatever the latest Children of Bodom album is called - not that any of their older material is worth much either, though I must say Dimmus have some rather good passages in their back catalogue, buried in a morass of mediocrity of course. In Death's Embrace and Kings of Carnival Creation have riffs that still sound quite good to me.

The only Children of Bodom album I still listen to is Follow the Reaper, about half for nostalgia value and half because it really is quite an original, fun album with all the zany guitar and keyboard dueling and even Alexi's crazy vocals. Like it or hate it, it's still one of a kind.

I don't like any Dimmu though. :p

Oh, good grief. My eyes are burning. Seriously, that hair monstrosity is now singed into my retinas... The only thing more painful than - I don't even know what that hairstyle is called, actually - is the comments section. Granted, the spelling confirms my opinion of Machine Head fans, and makes me feel all fancy and superior with my book learnin' and such; still, I wish more browsers had basic spell-check software. You know, the kind the delivers small electric shocks.

CoB are meh, I mainly hate them because they were the start of the huge downfall of Melodic Death Metal. The album Children of Bodom is alright, though.

As for Dimmu.... For All Tid and Storm Blast are all I can stand, even if they ripped off a significant amount of melodies (in some cases, off video games) for both albums.

The worst thing about missing that gig was that you missed out on fucking Portal. Absu were good, but Proscriptor wears so many shiny silver things, he looks like either the silver spandex Dennis wears when he wants to be a musician in It's Always Sunny In Philidephia, or the Mirror Ball Suit from the Mighty Boosh, depending on whether you've watched either show. I mean the music was good, but the ridiculousness of it all kind of took away from it a bit, too silly for my tastes.

Considering most Gothenburgy mainstream melodeath is complete crap, I don't think COB has much to do with that. And eh, I'd probably rather have the goofy over-produced modern Dimmu over the incredibly dull, poorly done old material of theirs.

No. Stormblåst is Norwegian for stormblown. There's no space between the words, and it's not a blast.

 I can imagine what that looked like; I love both shows, actually. And Portal is another one of those bands that I got into soon after missing their gig - I get a little mad every time I see someone with a shirt from that tour. At least there's a good chance they'll be around again, given their location. Right? Right? Oh, dammit.

Old school melodeath used to be a depressive atmosphere, but you seem to not like much Swedish Melodeath, haha.

It's just gotten to the point where when people think Melodic Death Metal, they often associate with subpar metalcore. Of course that is not the fault of Children of Bodom, but they made it, say... "Too happy"

Swedish Melodeath...or M3loD3th as the kids call it, is awful.

Unlike you fools, it's Friday, NIGGA. I'm out tonight after work, party p4rty. PaRTY. Tomorrow is my chill night with the lady. Tonight is bars and drinks and shenanigans. Be more social!

Also, dates are awesome. I liked dating, but not lame dates. Dates where you can't talk to each other suck, never understood movies as first dates, dinners and creative stuff...way better. Trust me, I am the happiest, most successful and handsomest (outside of Tony) man on this board.

I guess I lucked out for the most part, I fell into freelance writing work, and I've just been moving around the country doing weird writing jobs.

Also, humility and modesty? When you're as handsome and rich and successful as me, you don't have time for things like that. Page 1 of Handsome Rich Guy Quarterly says that.

Yeah man, it really is cool. I've been posted up in Cleveland for a little while now, and I haven't left just because the market for writers is off the charts here. But, it's cool just being able to uproot and go wherever. I'm off to DC this summer for some Migrant Worker's Legal program, then I've got some work for a paper out in Baltimore lined up. You just gotta put your shit out there and keep pushing. I love it. Especially cause my girlfriend is doing a career in politics in DC, and has been very supportive of me moving all around. However, if you're single, just go for it.

I'm slowly approaching those lofty upper echelons. This week I ascended the ranks: from having a desk around the corner from my supervisor's office, to a cubicle with a) drawers, b) real bins that are actually emptied, and c) a lockable cabinet. Yeah, I'm movin' on up. Now I just have to find a powerpoint...
