So i'm pretty sure we've all heard Celtic Frost. And I'm sure everyone who has listened to Celtic Frost would know Fischer has churned out a lot of crazy sounds, most notably "oomph." Being one of the most famous and influential metal bands of all time, I'm sure there are a few bands who have copied/parodied them. One of the most obvious examples is "Celtic Frosted Flakes" by SOD. But I want to get a little more obscure. Does anyone know some more examples of this phenomenon? Of course, it can't be a cover of CF, cause that would defeat the purpose.

WINDS OF CREAT-OOMPH!

I always considered it an "Ugh". To refer to it as an "oomph" means it has an "fff" sound at the end of it, something Tom never did.

It's definitely more of an "UGH" than "OOMPH!" There's an "ugh" somewhere in Diamond Head's "Sucking My Love" towards the end. He's right in sync with the drum hit, so it's easy to miss, but it's there.

There are ughs all over the place in metal. For the most part, they're easy to miss.

What about the Fischer "hey-hey-hey"? I've always heard "I'm fat Albert!" coming after that in my mind.

Not sure about the ugh (I agree, definitely not an "oomph"), but the whiny gothic vocals from Into the Pandemonium have been imitated a lot, by Solefald for example.

There's nothing quite like a good old fashioned Tom G. Warrior "Ugh!". And no, it is not an "Oomph!".

My favourite non-Warrior version is Akerfeldt's effort on Bloodbath's "Weak Aside".

Obituary does a weird rendition of this "UGNF" in their cover of Circle of Tyrants.

Also, I know some bands that heavily use that kind of thing to set tone... Thulcandra and Obscura are some that come to mind, I'm sure Steffan is inspired by CF vocals.

the studio version of "delivering the goods" by priest, after the (i believe) second chorus. halford goes "deliving the goods...UGGH" i think its the first proper death growl.

I've always loved the "eeyah" at about 0:52 of Obscura's Choir of Spirits. It sounds cool as fuck, and it fits the whole ominous mood of the ongoing riff. But yeah, Steffan is a beast of a vocalist.

I've always considered that sort of thing to phonetically be a "Üah". I didn't know there was a widespread recognition/musical "theory" behind it, although it's definitely in widespread use.

The band Plaag named their album after it. Pretty good stuff actually.

War Ripper, this song has an UGH at the beginning, an UGH at the end, and an OWWWW at the end as well. Plus they're sweet. Like if Hellhammer and Discharge made sweet sweet love to each other.

Misery are from Brisbane, not Melbourne.

More than the "hey!" at the beginning of "In the Shadow of the Horns" is Nocturno Culto screaming "Nocturno Culto!"

Fischer also used other things:

"THRASH"
"RAID" (Visions Of Mortality)
and the best one ever: "SLOOOOOOOW" (Journey Into Fear, just incredibly fitting here)
