I know I ride these dudes' dicks all day, but check out Insect Warfare's side of the split with Carcass Grinder. Real strong Wormrot similarities there, especially on the song "City of Enemies."

Haha, mine came Saturday too, interestingly enough. Too bad I slept in too long and had to wait until today to get it. But the dude threw in four free splits and two issues of his zine. So no complaints. Also, my copy is still sealed. Good shit.

Does yours say "Teenass Rebellion" on it? I haven't done much research to find out if that's how the album comes anyways, but it seemed a bit fishy. Anyways, mine came sealed too, thankfully. Plays well too, so I guess that's all I could ask for! Which splits did you get?

All down the back on the left side it says that. It says "Teenass Revolt" on the spine though. Is yours gatefold too?

As for the splits:

Sete Star Sept/Penis Geyser
Insomnia Isterica/Agathocles
Kursk/Damage Digital
Haemophagus/Spiral

and nice that Kursk is awesome.

And i was wondering if anyone here would be down to do some grind long distance. like real grind that's been discussed here. for the life of me I can't find anyone around here who wants to play nor really anyone online.. just some simple awesomeingly blistering grind. I'd prefer to just play drums on it cause I do write and record for 2 grind bands already. I just love playing it so much.

Okay, then I've got the same one as you, as I never even thought about looking at the spine.

and Sete Star Sept...that's a band I've been meaning to get stuff from but I just haven't. I've heard a few mp3s of them, definitely sounds up my alley as far as noisecore goes.

Oh you know will!

And I'm totally down to do this, although I'm still sorting out all of what I need to record at home. I remember a while back you recommended a Presonus Firepod, though I still haven't had a chance to get it. Are there any other alternatives that would at least get me going? I've been wanting to do some grind recordings for a while now. Just some really intense, hammering grind somewhere in between the riff madness of The Kill and the Discharge-on-meth style of Excruciating Terror...but with a huge, thick, nasty guitar tone. Oh yeah, I'd want to be playing guitar.

Yeah, the Kursk isn't bad. The real winner though is the Spiral side of their split. Japanese grind with funeral doom-esque vocals. Dude doesn't even bother keeping up with the tempo. He just does these ridiculously long UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHs and it's sooooooo fucking good. The liner notes are rife with typos and it just rules. The Haemophagus side's alright too. Real Repulsion/Impetigo/Reek of Putrefaction vibes.

I'll be totally down for that... I'll see if there is something else that could work. back in the day I used an old fucking soundboard that I ran into a computer in the mic jack on the back. ran that into cool edit pro2.0. It works. makes the recording a bit darker overall but it works. find you an old 4 track with an output for the headphones... just run it into the mic... point cool edit pro2 to read from that and presto... you got recordings! works great for guitar or bass... wasn't great for drums since it's mono.

and that's sweet I need to hear that Spiral.

Haemophagus i'm familar with. I have one of their cds... it's the dudes from Undead Creep

Okay, so I know this is probably blasphemy in this thread, but I've never heard any Napalm Death besides that one video they played on Beavis and Butthead. My buddy just left me pretty much all their full lengths. I like death metal and groove. Where do I begin, according to there MA they are more death metal further on in there career ?

I gotta rec their early jams. From Enslavement to Obliteration is one of the greatest grindcore records of all time but I think Scum and their Peel Sessions are probably my personal favorites.

Also... IF I had the ability to record at home i'd be all about doing some long distance grinding. I have garage band on my comp and mics and a rig, I could probably figure out a way to plug that in somehow with a little guidance? Thoughts?

I know that you can do it with those components cause I work with my vocalist in Ishimura that way. he records his vocals in garage band. I'll text him tmwr and ask him what he does and how he does it cause I've never worked with the program before.

How about two vocalists?

I can do guitar. I've been wanting to write some Harmony Corruption through Fear Emptiness Despair type of stuff. My grindcore band just broke up after two demo tracks, was thinking of forming an OSDM/grind band in a couple months. Been really digging Harmony/Fear though.

Words from the Exit Wound is their most groovy record, and it's the most death metal thing they'd done to that point aside from Harmony and Fear. Groovier than both, though.

Is there such a thing as bad grindcore? I listen to so much of it, and I buy so many tapes and albums, but I haven't heard any I didn't like. So I see three alternatives: Either I have no critical listening skills, grindcore is like a black hole for talent, or grindcore is super easy to play. Which is it?

Does anyone have some really bad grindcore so I can reestablish confidence in my music?

Grindcore is like funeral doom in that it's rare that something is mindblowing amazing, it's rare that something outright just fucking sucks (aside from recording quality, I'm talking music here), but it's very commonplace to be incredibly bland. Off of the top of my head, I can't think of any grind record that I had to turn off because I found the actual music to be appalling.

I've heard a fair bit of awful cyber/goregrind, but nothing that was truly repulsive in straight-up grindcore.

THIS.

Once you leave the realm of "pure" grindcore then it gets pretty hit or miss but it's hard to screw up by-the-book grind too bad... though it's pretty easy to just be mediocre and nothing overly special at it.

Anyone got anything crazy and spastic like Parlamentarisk Sodomi or Psudoku? I've been jamming this guys albums continuously all day, looking for more like it.

So I've suddenly realised there's a huge Agoraphobic Nosebleed shaped hole in my otherwise fairly extensive grindcore library. Obviously they have a big catalogue to go through, any advice on where to start/high points to focus on? (Other than the obvious go from the beginning and get everything).

Could try Magnicide, another Singaporean grind band. I've got their s/t LP and split with Noisear and both are pretty killer.

An extension to a more DM-based request I've made elsewhere; I'm looking for oldschool goregrind with a sound similar to Cadaver's "Hallucinating Anxiety" and Exulceration. I know this is borderline grind, but I'm hoping to find something in the goregrind scene that fits. The key requirements are:

audible, fuzzy guitar sound
not too downtuned (if at all)
not overly tight/technical or brutal (though not as sloppy as "Reek"-era Carcass).
Vocal style isn't too important, though if it has high rasps like Cadaver then great.

I know Carcass, Xysma, Traumatic, Pungent Stench etc.

Gore fiends, do your worst.

Most likely not what you are looking for, but your mention of goregrind made me want to listen to Dead Infection's "Chapter of Accidents". Cheers!

I don't dabble in the realm of goregrind very frequently but your description of what you're looking for made me think of these bands that you may enjoy.

50/50 - s/t or the split with Endless Demise
Couple Skate
Powercup - Renovate At All Costs

Thanks for the recs, I've just been checking them out. 50/50 are pretty damn good, I'll be getting their stuff for sure. Powercup were a bit too brutal for my liking, though they had some good moments. I couldn't find any samples of Couple Skate, so I'll have to look further into them. Cheers!

Keep 'em coming people.

Absolutely fantastic band, and Honduran were a great opener when they played in Seattle. Hopefully they tour the United States again soon, they were too much fun. And I doubt I'll be in their part of the world any time soon.

Yeah, I like that track more than anything they've ever done, Human Overdose is definitely on my watch list. That and I gotta get the new Six Brew Bantha LP at some point, I must've listened to it on their bandcamp page a million times now. Also, remember that band Worlds from Gainesville, the band that has one or two of the dudes from Assuck in it? They need to do some new recordings, I've been listening to "Unforeseen Paths" a lot lately. Shit is pretty cool.

Damn, that new Hatred Surge song is good, psyched for their new stuff. Also agreed that Worlds need to make more music.

On the topic of making more music, a couple of new Mammoth Grinder tracks that I haven't seen put up here, plus an Amebix cover:

Unfortunately, I just recently heard through the grapevine that Worlds is done.

But in better news NIBIRU recorded new shit, some of which will be on a split 6" with Suffering Mind.

Still need to check out Suffering Mind. I've heard too much good shit about them not to.

Anyway, does anyone know of any drum-machine pv?

Duuuuuuddeee, get pretty much anything Suffering Mind has put out, especially their splits with Lycanthropy and The Afternoon Gentleman. One of the best bands going right now. Their side projects, Hellisheaven and ENTH, are pretty solid too.

drum machine pv kinda defeats the purpose of it being pv. closest thing I can think of is Enemy Soil's early shit.

Suffering Mind is great. I picked up a cd of theirs on ebay for a dollar and it was well worth that and more.

Yeah man, don't sleep on SM, you can listen to a good bit of their stuff here
http://sufferingmind.bandcamp.com/

and SLK beat me to the Enemy Soil rec. I despise drum machines so my knowledge is very limited in the realm of bands who use them beyond Psudoku and Parlamentarisk Sodomi.

Funny, I was going to rec Enemy Soil too but passed on it. I really can't think of any drum machine powerviolence, or really anything using a drum machine that you could even kinda call powerviolence. Also, I thought PS and Psudoku were live drums? Not that that changes my opinion of the music or anything...I dunno why I thought the dude behind those projects actually played the drums.

and SLK beat me to the Enemy Soil rec. I despise drum machines so my knowledge is very limited in the realm of bands who use them beyond Psudoku and Parlamentarisk Sodomi.

Great band!

I thought PS and Psudoku were live drums? Not that that changes my opinion of the music or anything...I dunno why I thought the dude behind those projects actually played the drums.

I don't know that it's been confirmed whether it's actually a drum machine or just a triggered kit. The cymbals def give it away as not being a raw recording but it could very well be the dude playing it and just replacing the audio. Either way, he's damn good at what he does and if it is actually a drum machine then he's putting pretty much everyone who's touched one of those things to shame.
