My main amp is in the shop. Attempting to get a good tone from a Marshall solid state is proving to be a futile endeavor.

I'm not fond of solid state marshalls. it might be time to upgrade.

How is that a Valvestate? A valve or a tube amp yes. But valvestates are hybrids, with tube(s) in the power amp.

After a long time of being unable to do shit I'm finally writing stuff for piano back, man those days/weeks where nothing would come out whenever I sat with the idea of composing were quite frustrating.

Finished up one more song from my main project after taking a long break from it. I think the 2nd album is about 90% done right now.

Heres a quick update on the project I previously posted about. I literally just got home from recording our first song at the studio. Went to a buddy we knew. Hooked us up with a decent quick recording for $20. Still No drums and No vocals though.

That's awesome, seems like you just mentioned how you were going abroad to work on the video not so long ago. Everyone must have put it together pretty damn fast. Impressive.

Spoiler: show
I laughed at how y'all simultaneously pointed at the kraken in the end.

Wow haven't listened to you guys in a minute and I must say I like it. The extreme metal parts are really sick and I wasn't expecting them so A+ job on the video and the song in general.

I agree with stinky, the pirate thing in general never really did it for me, but the "black metal" part in this song is awesome.. the video in general is cool :) looks like you had fun making it.

Holy shit!!! This fucking rules. Alestorm has gone from gimmick band riding a trend to actually-really-good-music. Congratulations, most bands can't pull that off.

Big props on recording a 7 minute video too. The video is superb.

Did a shitload of reorganizing my collection of riffs. I now have 9 more half-done songs to work on again.

I'm just getting back into guitar, after a roughly 4 year hiatus where my practicing was few and far between. I started watering down my style of metal, swapped the old pickups out of my Jackson in favor of weaker pickups and played a more bluesy style. Well, all that's going, I'm throwing in high output pickups, tuning the ole' girl to c# standard and starting to play actual metal again. And you know what? It feels fucking good! I just want/need to update my rig since it's the same thing I've had for 6+ years now and find some people to jam with....once all the rust is brushed off.

Going to record some drums and scratch guitars on Saturday with my trusty old friend Mathias!
We're not sure of the outcome since we don't have any songs written what so ever, but stylistically it will be towards slow black metal, kind of like Khold and Shining with a hint of Dark Throne.

I'm still in the process of trying to work out exactly what I want my music to sound like, so I can actually write songs with an aim in mind - what I lean towards when I'm jamming is so incongruous with what I want to write. This is in addition to a project I plan to do over the summer, making bizarre black "metal" using piano, drums and vocals only.

This weekend, I am going to record a video for The Soul of the Stars, acoustic guitars for another new song, maybe finish writing yet another new song, and work on a collaboration with an aerial silks routine. GOOD TO BE BACK.

My band is opening for Watain one month from tomorrow. It's at The Chance in Poughkeepsie. Happiness is what I feel.

Psychic Faith has been rehearsing with our newest guitarist every Saturday for the last month or so and we're actually going to play our first show in 7 months at the Indy Jukebox on 4/20. There's definitely a lot of enthusiasm in the group now and I'm hoping this show goes over really well; our following is still incredibly small and we'll be the last ones performing on a show that starts at 10pm...

The Watain show has been moved. It's now at The Loft in Poughkeepsie instead of The Chance.

Trying to form a hardcore band in the vain of Pg. 99, Raein, Funeral Diner, etc. A buddy of mine from school plays guitar and fretless bass, so we may try and just do some stuff ourselves until we can find some other people.

My ankles are done. I have a deadline with 2 projects and I'm seriously thinking on to get a drummer to do the job for me (If you know someone interested on recording 5 black/folk metal songs, let me know). Both my Les Paul and my acoustic guitar are getting adjustments with a luthier, so I can only do the basslines for now.

Interesting day. Recorded drums that were a bit untight, but that's the whole point. Three riffs, much slower than I'm used too.

waiting for the other bandmembers for the first practice in the houseboat. I hope it's sufficiently soundproofed and stuff.

Unfortunately, the only type of musical success I've had lately is with my non-metal projects. I wrote a goddamn country song the other day. What the hell, I don't even like country.

a house boat? that's pretty awesome. you soundproofed it? so is it out of the water? or docked up to shore where your neighbors are close? for practice I'd run out in the water further and blast.

and G_A that's very very sad.

I've quickly come to notice that there's no spontaneous popularity at all to be had for even slightly extreme metal. The same heavy metal song that would somewhat attract a pub crowd will cease arousing anything but scorn once the vocals are as much as half-screamed. It takes very broad, thorough and specifically targeted promotion. If your music only appeals to a limited niche group, you can't effectively promote yourself through grapevine. "Hello, I play in a band, and we would be interested in playing a gig at your restaurant, I wonder if this is possible?" "Certainly, provided you play Smoke on the Water, Sweet Home Alabama, maybe Paranoid and the usual list of Finnish popular songs."
