They gave it the Haunted font haha. Without the vocals, it sounds like something from To Hell With God. Wasnt expecting the cover to look like that, but looks like theres some inside art.

That sounded surprisingly... okay. I'm not going to get it but even Barnes sounds 50% less shitty than he usually does.

I don't really like the drum sound too much, it's a bit drum machine-ish sounding. Chris sounds better than he has in a long time, and the guitars don't sound half bad to my ears. I was never too big a fan of SFU but if this album turns out good I might have to go see them with Dying Fetus and Revocation this summer.

It's definitely an improvement for the band (for Barnes in particular), but it still just kinda sounds like watered down Cannibal Corpse.

I haven't listened to SFU since the Haunted days, and they always came across like the most cookie cutter / obnoxious death metal band for most of their career.

This isn't great, but it's a lot better than I remember them sounding. Probably because it doesn't sound like SFU.

Sounded fucking awesome. This new incarnation of Six Feet Under sounds very inspired. I thought the last two SFU records were the best ones they have done in a while but if this album sounds as hungry as this track then it will surely surpass.

I see Kevin Talley plays drums on this album which would explain the blastbeats and assorted goodness. I bet he had a good influence on the album.

Drums didn't sound that great, everything else wasn't bad by any stretch. Barnes actually sounds better than usual.

Seems like the groovy, death n' roll style has been abandoned, at least on this track. Not a great loss - death n' roll has the potential to be the coolest, greatest thing ever, but Six Feet Under have always sucked at writing it.

Hmm, seems like this new album might just be about zombies...

http://www.indiemerch.com/metalbladerecords/item/14502 I think I like this better than the cover. I hate the "deluxe bundle" trend that bands are doing now.

Its a definite improvement from their last few, but that's really not saying much.

I think the cover fits with the style of early Six Feat Under album art. They never really had all that great of album art work to begin with.

To be honest, I have never been excited for any Six Feet Under release. I always liked them for what they were. How ever after listening to Formaldehyde I am kind of anxious to hear the rest of the album.

I actually think the last one, Death Rituals is their best album. New song is decent though.

I don't like it. The vocals are better but still crappy although the backing vocals are ok. The drum sound is utterly horrid. The chugging groove riffing they exhibit at times is irritating. The rest of the song is ok but unmemorable.

As usual SFU still don't appeal to me.

I've only heard a few other Six Feet Under songs but this sounded pretty decent. Barnes' vocals are still more or less shot but the instrumentation isn't bad. I don't know if I'd go out of my way for this but it's not too bad.

These guys have been getting better since Commandment. Their old stuff was fun, simple death metal with touches of death n' roll and groove metal, I don't see why everyone hates that stuff so much.

Probably because the Graveyard Classics albums suck really hard (especially the Back in Black one) and that suckiness bled into their normal material. This band looks to be an example of new blood meaning better music.

I do not like this new music at all, and in my opinion the band will probably never top "Haunted". That is the only album I really like from this band.

Seconded. Death Rituals was good. I mean, they actually wrote a real album before entering the studio or anything. For SFU, that was a decisive step up.

And the new song doesn't sound bad at all. Sounds like real midpaced death metal, instead of a lame redundant rock song with bad death vox. Chris' growl is better than it's sounded in years (as he promised), and the layering effects don't hurt. The drums could be punchier, but on the whole this is okay. If the rest of the album is like this, I might get it when the price drops enough.

This is the only SFU song I've ever heard and actually kinda didn't completely hate.

I like some SFU if its their own material and not the awful cover song albums. With that said Barnes' vocals are pretty good for being him and the song itself does a little more than the usual death 'n roll formula which can get kind of stale. Decent song

no i meant the song is different from the death 'n roll formula they usually do. its more cannibal corpse sounding than what SFU is usually known for :p

The fast, almost thrash part that comes on around 1:35 sounds awesome, I hope they do more stuff like that.

I'm not sure. It sounds pretty good, but there's a real lacking sense of pace and the vocal patterns are a little out of time with the rest of the music if you ask me.
Also, is it supposed to be Jeff Hughell playing bass on this song? Then where the hell is the crazy bass stuff he usually does?

I know, I guess it's just because I really can't see a person like Hughell in a band like Six Feet Under. With his kind of "capabilities" he's probably gonna get bored with the band really really fast.

18 Days isn't as good as Formaldehyde, but it's not bad either. Commercial as they seem, SFU's greatest crime to me was their agonizingly repetitive songwriting. Even on Haunted there were only one or two tracks that contained any real variation within their 3-5 minutes. Same damn riff, same chorus, etc. Death Rituals was an encouraging step in the right direction, maybe this will be another.
