Same thing here, I've been using it since '06 but for no reason I never registered...

From Vit's ma page. "The band claim to be members of an ancient cult from fictional Swansylvania, Ohio, but are actually from Columbus. "

Awesome.

heh. I'm still curious as to who decided we're from Columbus, considering no one in the has ever band lived there. :P

I was born in a hospital there, but I doubt anyone on MA knew that. haha.

I wouldn't put it like that. But everyone seemed to know each other, have inside jokes, and were funnier without trying so hard :p

Yep - judging by the threads that remain from that time (along with using the Wayback Machine on rainy days), it looks like MA was indeed a more small-towny place back in the day.

I guess you're a fan of Cradle of Filth too. Welcome aboard, and if you're looking for some melodic death metal recommendtations, I would check the Death Metal Help Thread in Recommendation Central, it's thanks to that thread that I found Insomnium. So it may help you.

Also, it's great to see a fellow British person on the board. England!

Hey, everyone. I figured I ought to do a proper introduction, so here it is. I'm just some guy from Louisiana who studies anthropology and listens to a lot of fucking metal. There's not a single shop around here that caters for especially to that sort of thing, so I lurk on several forums to download shit, since I just can't bring myself to buy music online. I was lucky enough to have an older brother who grew up on the stuff coming out of New Orleans so I was exposed to metal early on. I've been into black metal since I first heard Hvis Lyset Tar Oss when I was 12 (I'm 20 now). I haven't really explored the genre as much as I'd like to, just kept up with a few bands I knew and liked, but I'd like to find more which is why I've joined. Of course I'm interested in other genres as well.

Welcome, Julien Thomas. I'm something of a black metal connoisseur, so ask away if you need any advice. The black metal help thread is the best place for recommendations and advice.

Newbie from Norway, girl 26 (also a lesbian as noted another telling - not that it matter..).

I'm quite new in Metalworld. I started listening to Nightwish many years ago, but I was only able to expand my interest recently. I find my taste expanding every day. I struggle a bit with all the terms, black, doom, thrash etc etc.. Does someone know a site or two that would help me put things straight?

I am a listloving person , so I have to make one or two here :)

Albums:

Negură Bunget - Om
Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death
Bathory - Blood Fire Death
Taake - Kveld
Emperor - In The Nightside Eclipse

Bands:

Negură Bunget
Morbid Saint
Bathory
Taake
Emperor
Wolves In The Throne Room

That's all! Hopefully I will learn a lot here and my taste will expand further.

I could help with genres. I'm good at that. PM me if you want to accept the offer.

greetings, everyone. i'm Zombieman (i know, it's shocking, it's not like it says my username by my post or anything). i live in the St. Louis sort of area, and i'm a fan of pretty much all Metal subgenres (except Nu-Metal and whatnot, of course), though there are some i'm more familair with than others. so yeah, this seems like a cool forum and definitely an awesome site, though i guess i shouldn't guarantee much presence here, as i occasionally and suddenly lose interest in forums for no apparent reason.

Hello,

My name is Dave and I live in the Cleveland Ohio area. I have been into metal since the late 70's/early 80's. I grew up with Maiden, Priest ,Kiss, Sabbath,etc...

I'm basically into all genres of metal except for Folk or Black. Just doesn't do anything for me personally.

I'm a little disappointed in myself for not finding this site earlier.

Dave

Okay, so I've been posting here for two weeks or so, but never got to introduce myslf, so here it is.

I am from Slovenia (A small country below Austria and south of Italy) I turned 18 last week and I enjoy most of the metal subgenres (except for deathcore and grindcore not that much) and also a bit of other music (i've been a bit into neofolk and post-rock lately).

I do not do much else than listen to music and play video games, so yeah...

My nickname literaly translates to "by the way" if anyone is interested in that :D

Cheers! Im Julian, 20 years old and from Germany. Im using metalarchives.com for a very long time now and it helps me a lot
for inquiries and stuff.. so i thought its a good idea to check out that forum here..

Mostly i like bands that got a unique kind of sound, no matter if its black metal, Neofolk, Hardrock, Bluesrock, Old 70´s pop or whatever.. i also like irish folk a lot. But i think im mostly rooted in Black Metal. I also play drums, currently on a Roland TD4 because ive got no possibility to play
an acoustic set here - but the roland is doing very well.
Some of my Fav. Bands are:

Primordial
Agalloch
Empyrium
Helrunar
Alcest
Wolves in the Throne Room
Imperium Dekadenz
Iron Maiden
Aaskereia
Eis
AC/DC
Dornenreich
Nile (the one and only Death metal Band that i love)
Vali
Funeral Mist
Marduk
Austere
Woods of Desolation
Arstidir Lifsins

and so on..

Albums that i enjoy mostly this time are Primordial´s "Redemption at the Puritans Hand" (that record got me for months now) and Helrunar´s "Sol".

cheers
Julian

Valient Thorr
Isis
Carcass
Celtic Frost
Morta Skuld
Deicide
Black Anvil
Slayer (Early)
Obituary (Except for shit like World Demise)
Immortal
Bornholm
Svikt
INVDRS
