Dear Thrash gods, I am looking for more progressive material, in the vein of New York's Children:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IK7bDO4Da9Y

... But not so similiar as to be a clone or something. I like good production, so preferably something more modern. If anyone could point me in the direction of a couple of names, that would be great!

If you like thrash that is like:
Destruction
Kreator
early Megadeth...

I just found this band and bought their CD, and it is awesome, to me.
REZET.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTEvPCWVLiM

I can't imagine anyone not liking this, if they like the bands I mentioned.

Good find, Astrum502. Something I will have to track down. Love the vocals.

I am in need of thrash albums with really long ( 8 minutes and up ) and complex songs. Any genre of thrash will do but preferably prog thrash. I want something smarter than the usual mainstream stuff. Something mindblowing :D

EquimanthornBathory, another suggestion: Heaven's Gate's Livin' in Hysteria. (You might also try Risk's The Reborn, though it didn't do anything for me.)

Def not prog but check out Sabbat (u.k.) "Dreamweaver", a stunning release both epic and complex.

There aren't many tech/prog-thrash bands with any songs that into the 8+ minute range, let alone regularly, but try Deathrow's Deception Ignored, Watchtower's Control & Resistance, and Mekong Delta's Dances of Death. Not as progressive and you might know them already, but check out Dark Angel's Time Does Not Heal and Heathen's Victims of Deception as well.

Check out Dark Angel's album Time Does Not Heal. It progressive Thrash and was famous for having a sticker that read: "9 songs, 67 minutes, 246 riffs!"

Holy hell, I heard the first two albums and enjoyed them to an extent but they never left a lasting impression which led to me never giving this album a chance, but this is a thrash master work with huge replay value through and through. Thanks for the yt link, Hamburgerboy, because I would of likely passed over this album otherwise.

Cheers

I really liked Deathrow's first couple albums but have not yet heard 'Deception Ignored'. Sounds like it's about time I do. :)

It's like going from Deathwish to Watchtower really, it's a real 180 that one!

Yeah, they definitely went from the more straight forward thrash concept to a complete technical onslaught. This may very well prove to be the top tech-thrash album in my arsenal.

Is there anything similar to Sepultura's Schizophrenia out there? Thrash with a shitload of riffs, raw production and raspy vocals. If it's from Brasil it's a plus, but it's not neccessary.

Only thing that immediately comes to mind is Torture Squad, albeit not as raw.

Raw? Raspy? Shitload of riffs?, try Morbid Saint. Something tells me you're gonna love them. Or maybe Sabbat (UK). Especially "A History of a Time to Come". Riffffffffffs.

Also seconding Torture Squad. Pandemonium and Hellbound are great albums.

Yeah I'm familiar with Morbid Saint. They're pretty good.

Haven't heard of Sabbat though, so I'll check those out.

Heard Torture Squad's Pandemonium which is decent...though it doesn't really remind me of Sepultura.

Hey colin check out Invocator's Excursion Demise album. It's a lot slower than Sepultura but other than that it fits all your criteria.

Is there anything similiar to Coroner's Mental Vortex? Thrash metal that's not too riff-oriented, nor blazing fast, has some groove moments here and there without turning into a literal chugga chugga fest. I'm NOT looking for something with ''tough'', loud harsh vocals (see Pantera, later Sepultura) as I can't stand these kind of vocals. A plus if there's killer guitar solos around, but I don't find this neccessary.

Well that's a tough one, Mental Vortex is a masterwork and definitely my favorite Coroner album. It's kinda mellow and jazzy, so based on that you could try Mekong Delta, specifically The Principal of Doubt album. Watchtower can get pretty jazzy too with some legit soloing.

Also Colin what did you think of Invocator?

I second Wehrmacht, Suicidal, and CS for sure.

I would also add the band Excel with their albums 'Split Image' and 'The Joke's On You'. DRI would be another.

Been listening to Necronomicon's Escalation and the song Death toll just kicks my ass with its excellent use of gang shouts each time I play it. Recommend me some thrash like the link below, or any form of thrash you can think of with crazy amounts of gang shouting.

Hi guys, can you recommend me some great thrash albums? well,im not looking for anything especific, just geat riffs, rythmin, memorable songs, etc, some of my favourite albums are Bonded by blood,South of Heaven,Beneath the Remains,Horrorscope,The new Order,Ride the Lighting,Extreme Agression, then there is Sodom,Heathen,Forbidden, etc but i want something new (not necesary recent) ...some of the underground stuff that i have heard (i mean, the really underground, not Xentrix,Num Skull, etc) don´t convince me,and modern thrash,is not band but aside from Torture Squad, not any other band have clicked on me.Sometimes i have the feeling that i heard everything that i could enjoy, anyway here are some of the bands that i have listened (haven´t listened to all the stuff obiously) http://www.lastfm.es/user/veyita_88/lib ... rash+metal

Also if you know any groove metal but with real thrash influences,i mean, something like Cowboys from hell,Burn my Eyes or Resurrection (Chimaira) is a genre with "potential" but it can get kind of dumb or boring, anyway i like some of it.

Thanks for any possible recommendation.

If they finally decide to write a couple more doom songs, then yeah, I'd say this could be even better than Ironbound.
