I went for a walk in the park by my house and took my camera along, decided to play with the black and white setting:

I was ski hiking yesterday and took a few pictures as well. It was a very nice trip although I almost fell through ice when skiing on the Lake Ritojärvi.

I liked the footprint one...it's kind of eerie with the combination of those dragging marks.

Litle advice: Try to avoid buildings and human signs if you try to take nature photos.

I'll go to the snowed mountain tomorrow. Let's see if I can take some photos.

The place I almost fell through ice was next to a place where a stream started so the ice there was very thin. Usually at this time of the year the ice is very thick already.

I would like to see the night sky in your part of the world, do you see Orion there? Here in winter.

Yes take plenty of the mountains, but watch out for the Moloch! :)

Fuck! I thought of you yesterday cause I told you to be careful and I got lost at night in the snowed forest! LOL!
P.S: No REAL problem because I know the place and I could follow some sky marks.

I saw Orion yesterday if I remember correctly. It's quite common.
I took some photographs that I try to post tomorrow.

P.S: You did told me about the Moloch before, didn't you? Could you explain me what it's supposed to be?
We have this where I live:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaueko
We have a saying that goes:
"Gaua Gaeukoentzat" = "Night is for those of the night"
People is not supposed to stay outside the house by night cause Gaueko will teach them the hard way.
Also, we call the moon "Ilargi", light of the dead.
I fucking LOVE our language (euskera) and own mithology:

Maybe Moloch is older than man? (mountains + snow = Moloch's lair :))

I have heard of The Beast of Gévaudan, supposed to be an unexplained creature, late eighteenth century in Southern France. Sounds similar to your Gaueko?

Light of the dead sounds apt.

I need to try and get a better camera, but this isn't bad and works for the few pictures I take.

This?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moloch#Ref ... e_and_film

Quote:
In medieval texts

Like some other gods and demons found in the Bible, Moloch appears as part of medieval demonology, as a Prince of Hell. This Moloch finds particular pleasure in making mothers weep; he specializes in stealing their children. According to some 16th century demonologists, Moloch's power is stronger in December.

I remember this Beast of Gévaudan from the Brotherhood of the Wolf film:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beast_of_G%C3%A9vaudan
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brotherhood_of_the_Wolf

Not really the same concept:

http://wiki.white-wolf.com/whitewolf/in ... nko#Gaueko

Quote:
Gaueko
aka: Lord of Darkness, Lord of the Black Magic

Gaueko is the personification of the night and all its dangers, i.e. spirits and the dead. He sets rules of conduct for both the living and the dead as they travel through his domain. Gaueko walks the night and upon finding someone out night will warn him or her against performing certain tasks without light, urging him or her to go home quickly. If the person obeys, he protects them. But if the person defies or despises the night, Gaueko will be angered and punish the person.

Gaueko appears as a great black wolfhound that sometimes walks upright. He is said to eat shepherds and their herds and rape girls.

The blues in the sky show your camera takes very good photos. some of mine were taken with a 2MP phone camera, it's about atmosphere and being at the right place at the right time (with light and shadow). Sometimes a little "noise" adds to the effect, especially in black and white pictures.

Very nice Photos BasqueStorm, I have a few more desktop pictures now.
(I only know Moloch in reference to Paysage d'Hiver).

The building on the left is part of an old WW1 bunker, and the building in the distance is a monument built in honour of the French soldiers who died in WW1. This was taken near a WW1 graveyard in Verdun, you see. The perspective does make it look very weird, though, like something out of Lord of the Rings.

From a different perspective it looked like this:

(The pic on the top may actually be a different bunker tower on the same field, but I don't really remember.)

Nice aurora borealis! I hope I will get the chance to see that in real life to.

Last week I was on a trip to ''Lillehammer'', well known for its OL in 1994 ( Which I was at in an age of 4^^)
I was there visiting family.

Here are some photos:

You can see the stairs to the left where two people are standing, over 900 up to the top. A nice walk!
