I used to ride every summer for a few years when I was a kid, but it's been a long time. I'm pretty sure I could get right back into it, though. A lot of fun.

I bet some of you will get a kick out of this like I did:
http://www.guitarworld.com/archive-yngw ... dfold-test

Pretty self-explanatory, but it's funny to see Yngwie try to take some of these guys down a peg, while patting the backs of his virtuoso peers. :D

This is too good I have to share it. Serious question though, what are the odds of a completely random captcha being factual, humourous, and maybe a little creepy?

delicious.

I remember seeing a whole thread/article on some site about odd combos, one of them was like "Milky Boys" or something like that.

Yes, walking in a town where any cranky old lady driver or pissy teen or fuming senile idiot might have a gun does not make me feel remotely safe.

See, the thing is you're a Canadian and (I'm assuming) haven't really had much personal experience with guns. A car can kill you pretty much as easily as a gun, and you're much more likely to get killed by a car than by a gun, even in the US. Do you feel unsafe around cars all the time? I don't. If people aren't snapping left and right and going on vehicular manslaughter sprees, I don't think you really have to worry too much about random gun violence. Yes, there are muggers to look out for, and getting on a drug dealer's bad side is probably not a good idea, but you don't have to worry about regular people shooting you any more than you have to worry about them running you over. I mean, did anyone ever threaten you with a gun while you were in the US? Did any gun accidentally go off? Did anyone even ever fire one near you? Or did just the idea that maybe someone might have a gun and might use it irresponsibly scare you?

Well yes, you're right about cars, and no, I don't feel very safe with the kind of drivers we apparently have around here, either. But that's just a fact of life in any city, and I just have had to learn to live with it and not worry too much. I take your point with the comparison but man, I think the reason there are less uh, vehicular manslaughter sprees, is that even psychopaths aren't that suicidal. Anyway, I've been attacked for accidentally falling against someone in a crowded bus, among other things; I'm not saying that that person would have whipped out a gun and shot me in the face if we lived in a more pro-gun place, but at least if someone attacks you at close quarters you stand more than a fighting chance.

And I don't know if it's worth carrying on this discussion anymore (I think all the ground has pretty much been covered on this board over the years), but strict gun control would indeed lessen the number of illegal firearms, because most of these are stolen guns...stolen from people who apparently have the right to own them, and not smuggled into the country by some nefarious foreign smugglers.

Here's one for you guys: Back when I was living on Quadra Island (B.C) one of the local fisherman, since the season was over, was unloading his boat. Here's the good part- on one of the trips he made, he came out of his boat with an armload of hunting rifles. Must of been at least five or six of them.

There was also an old fisherman who lived there that used to come down to the docks with a rifle on his back in a shoulder-strap carry. Never failed to have it with him.

A bit late to the Primordial discussion, but yes, the mouth of judas is fucking ace. That was my favourite song on that album for a while but goddamnit it also has bloodied and unbowed. Best record of 2011 by far. And to the guy who mentioned the new Puscifer, fuckin' A man. I listened to it non stop for a week when it came out.

The vocalist kinda sounds like a tough muppet.

Sy Keeler is practically the ideal thrash singer for me; others like Martin Walkyier, Bobby Blitz and Bruce Corbin are awesome, but when I first heard about and started listening to thrash, a voice like Keeler's was what I pictured the archetypal thrash vocalist to sound like.

Yeah, haha. I thought the same thing. He seems so opposed to people who don't play in his exact style. He came off as kind of a dick.

Exactly! Jessica is such a famous song. Not to mention how The Allman Brothers is the best band on the list.

yngwie does not wank, you fool! He paraphrases the works of the great European classical composers, and dazzles with his dextrous and honeyed harmonies and heavenly arpeggios!!!

All kidding aside, I just thought it was funny, and not at all surprising to see his comments. The man can write songs better than a lot of people give credit, but that doesn't mean I love his stuff.

That Jeff Beck album is among the coolest things I've ever listened to.

Man does Overkill get the BEST reactions when you show them to people unfamiliar with metal. Seriously, they might be vaguely familiar with harsh/"cookie monster" type vocals, but nobody expects Bobby Blitz!

I always thought Jeff Beck never really lived up to his own hype. He could have been great, sure, and those early albums with Turnip Nose Pumpkin Arse (Rod Stewart) have their moments... but overall? I can't really make myself care than much. He's like Clapton, who always tops these guitarists' lists, but never really did much that I care about (although Cream is certainly pretty cool, but that's not all Clappers).

This Is The Life (How The West Was Won) (full documentary)

The Good Life was a health store in the slums of LA that held weekly open mic hip hop nights. There was no cursing allowed and freestyling was encouraged. This naturally fostered some of the most talented, intelligent, conscious emcees in the history of the game (Freestyle Fellowship, Hip Hop Klan, Jurassic 5, etc). There are a lot of very colorful personalities being interviewed and giving anecdotes from back in the days.

I know there are a few fans around here, but I think even the people who aren't into the music might find this documentary eye-opening. This is the essence of hip hop. Positive, prideful, creative, challenging...

I've been taking lessons since I was 10. It's pretty much my favorite hobby. There's nothing better than going out in the woods and the pastures on a spring day, racing around the fields.

I've thought about owning a horse when I'm older, but it costs a lot of time and money. Also, one of my life goals is to gallop a horse. I've been riding for years but I've never gone full gallop.

My only question for you guys is, english or western?

I don’t like horses. They are impressive creatures and all, but they kinda freak me out.

When I was like 11 my mother sent me to this summer camp that had two themes- horses and Christianity. We spent the days learning to ride and the evenings praying and singing hymns and shit. It was pretty awful. To make things worse, at the end of the week they named a ‘camp cowboy of the week’ and it was me! They must have pulled a name at random cause I was an unenthusiastic little shit. So on the last day everyone’s parents came out for some rinky dink rodeo and I had to ride out at the beginning and say a prayer over the sound system.

I even have a photo to commemorate my misery. It was the early 90s too, so I’m wearing a giant fluorescent yellow t shirt and a Toronto Blue Jays ballcap

Talking about the Children of Bodom 15th anniversary tour? I was gonna see the March 3rd show @ Starland Ballroom, but I figured that the time was a bit too late, and I have something to do then, too.

The Facebook time-line nonsense has to be the worst layout for a site I've ever seen. I don't have any sensitive/any real information up, but navigating my friends profiles is a nightmare.

Metal stuff accounts for like 70% of my fb use. Fb can be useful for that kind of thing.

It's optional at the moment, but it's going to become mandatory soon. I don't particularly use it a lot and if my friends didn't use it at all wouldn't bother with the thing. It's a useful tool, but unnecessary changes like this are what helped bring down MySpace.
